I saw catfish on the menu by the entry door. It was wonderful. Our waiter was helpful in the selection and serving. He was laid back, not encroaching on our evening, but always seemed to be present when wanted. The food came piping hot from the kitchen. From the dining area, the live jazz musician was background. I did get to visit with him as he prepared to leave. It was an excellent evening.

Amazing place so cozy and the ambiance it everything. The staff and drinks and food are fantastic!

The menu sounds intriguing. My issue was that it's like the food and plating (as you can tell by the pictures) is from the 1980's and has never been updated to today's standards. There was an overall lack of seasoning and spices on every dish. I went in expecting soul food but instead got bland dishes filled with dried parsley or cheese garnishes on the plate. Soul food means flavor - it doesn't have to be hot spicy. I got the feeling they cater to older people who want large portions and don't care much about taste.

Ate at Louisianne's Wednesday evening to celebrate our anniversary. Delicious food, friendly, professional staff, great dining atmosphere . Our only complaint was being seated next to a table of 9 people, making it extremely noisy for a nice intimate meal. The group arrived after we had started eating our appetizers. In hindsight we should have asked to be seated somewhere else. It was so noisy that we decided to skip dessert. The food was delicious. We shared the pecan crab cakes with mushroom slaw appetizer. I ordered the catfish Louisianne and my husband had the Tasso and shrimp. The sauce was very flavorful, but he would not order the Tasso and shrimp in the future. He didn't like all the ham. My catfish with spinach was perfect. The mustard sauce was very tasty.

A really nice place to go. The vibe is great, especially for a cold winter night. Loves the foods and the appetizers are phenomenal.

Simply put, if you are looking for incredible food, in a great atmosphere, at more than a fair price, you will not be disappointed. Choosing between the special of the night, or an item from the menu may prove difficult. Relax, there are no bad choices from this establishment. Gwen has an excellent wine palate, and I highly recommend that you ask for her input. I would put this restaurant up against any of the four/five star restaurants of larger cities. Bon appetit'

Really cool atmosphere. Really transports you to another place. Food is pricey and quality is good. Service in genuine and friendly.

Excellent Cajun food. Don't skip on the pulled pork crepes, an appetizer you won't see anywhere else. I had the tasso and shrimp fettuccine. I could have eaten a bowl of the mushrooms and sauce that came with that dish.

Ambiance and service were great. Food was good. I got the pesto scallop and shrimp and was underwhelmed by the flavor (didn't have much pesto) but my partners duck and dirty rice was very good.

Rude hostess Saturday night Nov 4, 2023. A mistake was made in our dinner reservation due to a miscommunication with staff about out table location. We were assured it would not be a problem to be seated in front of the pianist. Instead we were given a table in the dining room where the pianist could be heard but not seen. We declined that table and had our dinner in the bar in front of the pianist. We were chastised twice that night by the hostess when she made it a point to come over to our table table during dinner to tell us how much we had inconvenienced her because we didn't sit at her table. She was rude, inflexible and gave us a lecture which was out of place for the events. She made us feel extremely unwelcome with her comments and anger. There are plenty of other similar venues in Middleton and Madison which we will try rather than returning here.

Just kind of meh overall. It was decent, but it definitely felt like dishes I could make at home better. They are trying to go for a sort of classic atmosphere, but for the most part it just looks outdated and dingy. Also, the steep steps into the basement make this place a no go for anyone with disabilities.
