This was a new place for us and we liked the Friday Fish Fry. It was very good and the options were endless. We had takeout and ordering was so easy. The meal was ready on time. The parking lot was full, but I was able to street park a block away. We will be back.

I worked there for two days. The second day I worked there a customer was being openly racist towards me and nobody in the Establishment, including staff and customers stepped in to help me. I made my boss aware of the situation and said I needed a day away from the place... Well I guess that was grounds for being fired. Don't go here... They condone racism.

Was there last night for a quick bite. Service was terrible, food was subpar, pretty sure bartender was drunk. Place is trash.

I’m a former Madisonian who was in town and looking for a classic Wisconsin fish fry. Paul’s was great. All you can eat cod or perch with fries. Just what I hoped for and they accommodated our group of 7 on a busy Friday night.

To be fair, I didn't actually get anything to eat or drink here, but just walking in it smelled gross, was loud and full of obnoxious people. Keep walking.

Wisconsin dive / sports bar feel. "Neighborhood" hangout energy for sure. Tried the Fish Fry on Friday. Good stuff. I had the Perch, which was great. Others in the party had baked Cod that they enjoyed tremendously. The shrimp basket was awesome. The potatoes included with the entrées were not the highlight. The fries were a little underdone, and the hashbrowns arrived tepid. Nothing so egregious as to ruin the meal, though.Rolls and coleslaw were of fine quality, nothing to laud or complain about. Tasty and understated. The tables and menus were really sticky, and that was at the beginning of dinner service early in the night. The table next to us also mentioned this. That did detract from the atmosphere a bit.Service was great. Friendly, efficient, and attentive, even on a high volume Friday night.

Heard Paul's has a good fish fry, so had to give it a try. It lived up to the raves we've heard. Lightly breaded and tasty cod filets, yummy hash browns cooked as ordered, warm rolls, and cole slaw (this was fare). You could add a one trip salad bar for an additional charge. The service was exceptional! From the moment we walked in and ordered a cocktail to the time we left we were treated so well... And with smiles from all the staff we encountered. The only downside was the noise level in the dining area was very loud, hard to converse with the one person at the table with me. Will be back for sure cuz the food and service outweigh the noisy atmosphere. Thank you for a great meal!!

Haven't been to Pauls before but been by here plenty of times. A fairly large place with tables in a back room and a large bar in the front with plenty of large TV's around. On this Sunday afternoon there was a basketball game on so the bar area was very busy. We sat at a small table near the bar and had table service fairly quickly. The staff was friendly and efficient. The food was another matter. My wife's burger was pretty much raw.Not pink, red raw. My grilled chicken sandwich had a bad smell , as if it was cooked in something not fresh and was tasteless. I smothered it in mustard and did eat it but it was far from being good. We ended up taking the raw burger home for the dog. I would have sent both back but our server was busy elsewhere when we needed her so didn't make a fuss. Maybe the regular cook was off this day or he was distracted by the game but to serve regular bar food of this poor quality was disappointing. Pauls has been here a long time and gets good reviews so this must have just been a fluke. Either way we will not be going back anytime soon.

This is a no nonsense type of place. The banter between the bartenders and the locals is hilarious. Even the cooks come out to converse. The service and the food was great.
