Time has stood still here. Huge omelet. I left so full of food. I went early and hung out with the locals. Good times.

Quaint, little, down-home restaurant that gives you the basics. The food is good, service is fine, space is limited. Only friendly people are allowed in, I think.

List your hours properly. Says open online. Drove 20 minutes for nothing.

Find your way here for endless coffee and an egg sausage and cheese breakfast sandwich on sourdough that is absolutely incredible. Skip the chains and have a real breakfast!

Had the pleasure of eating at the Owl Cafe recently in Platteville, WI. When we travel, we like independent restaurants (no chains please) with charm, grace and personality. We found it in the Owl Cafe, a "joint" that has been in continuous operation for over 60 years!! The walls were covered with framed covers of Life magazine and lots of tributes to Marilyn Munroe. The food was very good and very reasonably priced. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was friendly. Heck, half way through our meal, we were talking to other patrons. So, if you are in the area, check out the Owl Cafe; you will be glad you did.

It is a simple diner, competently done. The menu fits on one normal sized page, I believe everything is cooked on a single grill. If you want fancy go somewhere else, but if you are looking for good quality simple food, in Platteville then, this is the place. The staff have not changed in years, or maybe decades, they figured out how to run the place and have stuck to what they know works. I believe they are family, that helps with retention.Parking: Behind the owl is a free parking lot with enough spaces for the restaurant to be full. There is a back door from the parking lot which actually serves as the main entrance. While I was there nobody used the front door. There is another larger lot across the street if everyone in the place came in separate cars, plus on street parking in front.

Bring cash (no cards) for one of the best breakfast diners in Platteville.

Foods some of the best I've ever had but I can't eat here as much due to the cold treatment I get whenever I ask them to put it in a box because I don't like eating in public. Sad because I love the food but I don't like the hassle it takes whenever I go in. I don't mind paying cash only. Hell I'll even pay for the boxes but it just seems to me they have a preferential clientele.

Very good little spot to try. Best fried chicken and chicken strips. Delicious dessert- but seems to sell out fast.
