We took our college age grandkids out for their birthdays last night. We enjoyed the soup and salad bar but waited 45 minutes for our entree. When it finally came. the steaks were well done and dry. So dry that they were impossible to cut. They had been ordered medium. We sent them back. Another 20-minute wait and they came out raw and bleeding. My husband said they were inedible. We decided to leave. The evening ended on a down...it was supposed to be a celebration. So sad.

Stopped in for lunch with a friend during the workday. Definitely has an older crowd for lunch, but was pleasantly surprised! The dining rooms were clean and the salad bar was well stocked with fresh ingredients along with two delicious hot soups. I added a side of shrimp, kind of wish they were lightly tossed in the boom boom sauce instead of being smothered with it. Friendly wait staff and bartender, might have to become a regular lunch visitor!

Love this place! It's like an old fashioned Wisconsin super club, lots of room and excellent service & very good food & friendly people. Friday they had a dance band-a really fun time! We'll come back often because we love this place and love Waunakee too. Thanks for a great time!

I've been to Rex's for a few occasions. Side-story - my parents used to live a block or so away - and every Sunday mid-morning we could smell the kitchen ramping up for the day. There's nothing like the smell of onion rings wafting around the neighborhood... mmmmm.... Rex's, I'm sure, is popular amongst the locals, mostly. A place to gather and share a meal, tell stories, and enjoy some food and drink. For me, the salad bar is what makes this place. I'm trying to eat healthy, and this provides a nice option for that. Some diced chicken or ham would be a nice addition (for those of us looking ot make the salad their meal), but overall it served it's purpose. The steaks are decent, and their fried food hits the mark. Service is good - I've never had an issue with the folks working here. Always friendly, always quick with a refill or whatever you need. All in all, Rex's is fine. I'll end up there again, I'm sure - but it's usually not by choice. It's someone else's choice. And I'm fine with that when it comes up.

I use to love it. I was disappointed in my meal tonight at the Oscarettes get together. I knew the Prime Rib would be Medium (I like mine Med. rare) so, I ordered the Chicken Cordon Blue with Rice Pilaf.. Mom had the Prime Rib.. My meal came with gravy on it.. there's no gravy on Chicken Cordon Blue or Rice Pilaf.. AND the Prime Rib had gravy on it...What!? Prime Rib comes with Auju on the side and Mom said it wasn't seasoned well. I won't be back. The food was excellent when Rex was alive. Not anymore.. its to bad!

For many reasons this was the first date night in at least 18 mo. Where to go? When in a wheelchair, access is number is number 1. It pairs down the choices real quick. Paired with the fact that restaurants don't seem to bother to promote it when they are accessible. Rex's is vary easy to get into bar and rest with a chair. Any way, date night was prime rib and we have had in a long long time. Perfect medium rare and very tender! Staff was very helpful and friendly, service prompt informative. P.S. old fashioneds and salad bar where great.

The ambience of this place and to the excellent service !!! We heard they serve Duck dinner there and we were not disappointed, they also have a great salad bar which is a plus if you enjoy that too. The Duck was done perfectly along with the service by our waitress. Will be back to try some of there other specials.
Excellent Thanksgiving meal! Painless pick up and no kitchen mess!!! Food was excellent-can’t wait for our next takeout meal!

During our times of curbside and takeout.......shrimp tacos will be well worth it! I have been seeing this special for lunch on Fridays, but wondered about Friday night fish fry night??? We called last Friday and they accommodated our shrimp taco request. Not sure if this was a special request, but I suggest it be put the the MAIN menu. These tacos are the BOMB! Great job!!!

Love, love, love the innkeeper! Can’t wait for COVID to be over so we can get back to the salad bar! For now, I will have to stick to the Rexs cheese spread at home. Rex is always there with a friendly smile. Prime rib to go is also a must.

Steak Oscar was terrible, fake crab and tasteless bearnaise sauce. Asparagus was overcooked and watery. would have been nice if they had offered a discount on the bad meal, other meal, prime rib was good.

The food and drink were amazing, but the service was beyond our expectations! Sherri was a delight throughout our entire meal and made the whole evening that much better. We will definitely be back and recommend to others.
