I hate giving local mom and pop places bad reviews. So my two star rating might be "beefed up" a bit because of the sympathy I have for the people who own this spot. It's hard to run a restaurant. Its hard to find good help or a great location. But at the end of the day, as long as the food is good, all the other things don't matter. But with this spot, that's where this place fails BIG TIME. It's been open for a couple years now, and I have often thought of giving them a try but every time I consider ordering a pizza from there, the photos of their pizza just look terrible. From the photos it looks like their pizza suffers from what I call :"The TOO deadly sins of bad pizza" (Too Thick, Too Floppy, Too Soggy, Too many toppings, Too much cheese, Too heavy, Too Soft, Too undercooked)The service was fast, and right on time. Ready in exactly the amount of time they had stated. The people who took my money were very nice and polite. I did not eat in the restaurant. I did take out. The place looked clean and inviting. However, I was the only person in there who was not an employee. The pizza Suffered EVERY SINGLE "TOO DEADLY SIN" unfortunately. and it was one of the worst tasting floppiest pizzas, I have ever seen. Its crust was something that tasted like Bisquick. The toppings were cheap tasting and there were far too many of them. It was one of the worst pizzas I've ever eaten in a long time, even for Fairmont which does not have a reputation for good pizza. The price of the pizza is one of the highest prices I've ever paid for a large pie. I don't mind paying close to $30 for one pizza, if its great, like Difara's in NYC or Sally's in New Haven or Lucali in Brooklyn, but those places deliver high quality. This has a high-quality price with terrible quality pizza. I will not be back. I can still taste that aftertaste from the "Crust"... it's not a good thing. GO to Cantoni's for take-out pizza in Fairmont instead. That's where I usually go, but I wanted to try something different. My mistake.

They were very slow. Had to ask for a menu.Waited very long time to be waited on. Husbands Spaghetti was watery. Over charged. Our meals were 13 something. Husband got a beer, 4.00. Our bill came to 46.00 before the tip. Does not add up.

Great food, ok service, authentic as it gets but kind of stuffy and quiet, some Italian music and fun the lights. Kind of like a cafeteria feeling but the best Italian food in WV for sure.

Cute Italian restaurant. Had the best cannoli, didn't even last long for a picture. We tried the caprese and had the eggplant sub. Both were great, fresh ingredients and had different flavors plus bakery bread so can't beat that. We will be back and try their dinner plates. The dinner plates are around $20, so more than pizza or subs but they do come with soup or salad and garlic rolls which are amazing!Vegetarian options: Eggplant dinner plates and eggplant subs. Veggie and margherita pizza.Parking: Parking meters in front and at post office parking lot next to it.

My new best Italian restaurant in West Virginia. Delicious food reasonably priced. Good pour on wine. Friendly staff. Friendly patrons. Too much red pepper on the delicious clams linguini with white sauce. Next time will be perfect.

I find it amusing that someone comments that it doesn’t seem like real Italian fare, when the owner and all his recipes are from Italy, and others, myself included, find it very authentic. Perhaps when you get your impression of Italian restaurants from American pizza places, that’s what happens?! Mama di Roma is very good. Probably the best in Fairmont. I don’t to smear that “other” Italian place that sheep flock to, but they have gone downhill and while they may do a few things very well, Mama D’s is better overall. Prices are fair, service is decent, food is exceptional. I’ve had the pizza, which is solid, better than the “other” place, tho we prefer Cantoni’s for pizza. The kids in our group want pizza, pepperoni and or cheese, and they love Mama Ds too and love it. I’ve had the Margarita and House special pies and they were delightful. The greek salad with chicken is also a solid choice. I love the sausage and peppers, fried mozzarella, and caprese appetizers. I love wedding soup, and theirs, while different, doesn’t disappoint (had it this time, see pics). The lamb chops and salmon toscano are amazing and the chicken piccata is on point. The meatball sub is pretty good too. This weekend I tried the angel hair al fresco and it was delicious, and you can see it below, along with the garden salad and house made soup. Refills on my sweet tea were easy to come by, and the waitress was patient with myself and others who were there to watch the parade and our band kids out the window. One of the best things are the abundant and delectable garlic knot rolls that come with just about every course, soup and dinner. They bring you a plate and there’s oil, parm and hot pepper seeds on the table to make a knot dip if you like, but they are already coated in butter and real garlic chunks. I filled up on soup, salad with house made balsamic dressing and rolls and had to take all but a few bites of my pasta home, after taking the tails off, cutting up the shrimp, and mixing it up well to blend in the goat cheese. It was just as good for lunch the next day. Hard to go wrong with Mama Ds, and there’s ample parking both on street and the parking lots and garage literally right next door.

This is a great local buisness that I highly recommend trying. There Italian food is great. Make sure you eat the garlic bread.

Rude waitresses, charged me $3.00 for several pieces of extra red onion. Charged another $3.00 for a little cup of extra red sauce.

Bad attitude waitresses. Was charged $3.00 for extra onion on salad. Pathetic! Used to be much better. Place is clean though. Not going back!

Mama Di Roma was decent, though it didn't quite meet my expectations considering their prices. The spaghetti lacked flavor and seemed diluted, and the shrimp scampi was similarly underwhelming. On the positive side, the presentation of the bruschetta was appealing, and it tasted good. All in all, I'm willing to give them another opportunity to make a better impression.
