“We stopped by on a Sunday because we were following the SmackBurger truck but were pleasantly surprised by Humble Sea! The space is very nice with a huge outdoor section with string lights and tons of tables and a nice little dog area.The beers themselves are high quality. I'm a big sour beer guy and they didn't have any fruited sours but they did have their Shoalmates. Its good, very good. Seriously, I wish I picked some up but will have to go back and get more!“

“I decided to write this review because I am currently staring at the leftover malt butter that was served with my warm pretzel and I am holding back the urge to Jell-O shot it right back into my mouth because it was BEYOND AMAZING and I would hate to waste such a gift. “It's the place to be in Alameda. Games, space, food, nice and knowledgeable staff. It's a great place to take someone you know and meet someone new. If you're in or near alameda with a free night and or company, this is the stop.“

“Alameda Island Brewery is a great place to hang out with friends or socialize. They have a big dining area with lots of space and one big screen TV to watch the game. The dining area was nice and open due to all the big open windows. They also have a large selection of draft beers to choose from which I like. They brew their own beer as well which I have yet to try. They have some flights they can offer. I did try a sampler of a unique beer that was 5% called 'Sarap' meaning good in Tagalog. It was on draft. It's a hint of calamansi in it. It was actually good! I will have to get that again next time. The guy at the counter was cool and friendly.Looks like they share the space with the Fikscue Craft BBQ next door as long as you buy their beers. Which we did! Prices are decent as well. Not a bad place to hang out, and just drink and chill. I know I will be back here again!“

“Faction Brewing is a wonderful, local brewery! On a perfect day, enjoy a beer or cider on their patio overlooking the San Francisco Bay and city skyline. Catch it on a gloomier day and you can still enjoy a crafted beverage in their large indoor spaces. We host our annual donation drive here in the spring and the staff is always so fantastic. “I haven't been here for many years. It's always been a Belgian beer bar. I'm not sure when Sante Adairius took it over but they've pretty much kept it the same as it was, in a good way. As I tend to drink IPA's, I was happy that they also had some on the menu. I tried the Left and Leaning, a non hazy that I really enjoyed. My friend had a very properly poured St. Bernardus (see photo). The service was great. Also on hand is a lovely, friendly Irish Setter. It was very fun when he visited our table. There's a nice $5 parking lot next door with an attendant. This alone would bring me back :)“

They have an impressive selection of "old school" beers in bottles: barleywine (above average), imperial stout (multiple varieties), and Belgian dubbel (also above average).Not much for the kids to drink, though my 11 and 14 each found something decent.The Caesar salad is the best I've ever had, the pizza is decent, and the service is good.Demerits for the bench seating with no backs for the Over 40 crowd, the minimal kid drink selection, and it can be difficult to find parking nearby on the weekends.“

“My favorite brewery in Oakland and it’s not even close. Large and diverse selection of beers such as IPA’s, malty ( schwarzbier, dopplebock, brown ale, etc), and light beers. the inside can be kind of tight but they have plenty of outdoor seating and the upstairs which has more seating and an entertainment area for kids. The customer service and the owners are always good people and there is food trucks always outside when I’m there which are quality as well.The only thing I can recommend is to watch your cars in the area. It’s still Oakland but I have yet to see a break in of my car or others but I would take valuables out. Other then that come visit this brewery, enjoy the amazing beers and good people.“

“This is hands-down the absolute best place to go if you are sober with your drinking friends or dates! Or if you are partaking in dry January, or just a dry week! Not only do they have an array of adult non-alcoholic options (not just water and soda), these NA drinks are SO good! The hop water is an excellent option with their awesome cans - really makes you blend in and tastes great. The supertonics are all delicious but my absolute favorite is the salt and lime as it really gives you the feel of drinking a margarita. I get packs to bring home, add tajin on the rim of a glass and it's my most favorite easy mocktail-style drink without feeling too sweet or cheesy. They also now have two non-alcoholic beers which I cannot wait to try. Oh and I shouldn't forget - their ginger beer and root beer are also delicious! “I just discovered this great brewery. They have a nice array of IPA's and don't miss the Coffee and Cigarette's Stout. Yum. I only tried the meatballs, but they were very tasty with just the right amount of spice. The SF Chronicle food critics highly rate their pizza. They have a special pizza of the day plus a couple of standards. Big open space inside and out for big gatherings and also comfortable for me and my husband. We would have preferred different music, but other people seemed to like it. Don't miss this neighborhood gem.“

“Man, I really like very curated "touristy" experiences like this. It was cool to find one so close to home.The tasting is fun, and very educational - we watched a video at the beginning, and the woman who ran the tasting taught us a lot about what made each pour taste different. A lot more information than a typical wine tasting, and very tasty. Great date idea, but would also be fun with a group of friends or even alone.“

“A very stalwart beer selection. One attractive option was the sampler flight of six 5 oz pours for $18.88, which I chose. The woman who handled the order and pours was helpful, having the names of the beers printed out on a receipt and placing the samplers in their respective order clockwise, so that I could know which beers they were. Unfortunately, whatever she offered in helpfulness, she lacked in friendliness. She just seemed to want to quickly finish my order and head to do something else, even though it was quiet and I was the only customer in the pour line. That's why I only gave Gilman Brewing Company 4 stars instead of 5. I chose to try a flight of their IPAs as determined by the beertender. Here are my tasting notes on a scale of 1 to 10: *Frog on Bicycle: 5. Not much flavor. Low on suds. *Punxsutawney Phil's: 5. Lacked flavor. *Banjo Cat: 8. Strong. Clean. Smooth. Robust. Reminded me of Russian River's Pliny the Younger...but just a tad. *Missouri Lean: 6. Strong. Bitter. Hoppy. Uneven. *Quarter Panel: 7. Clean and Balanced. Decent amount of suds. *Bad Tattoo: 6. Flavorful and fruity. But lacking in suds. There was a big seating area inside, as well as a good number of tables under the cover of large canopies outside, which was where I hung out on a pleasant, balmy day. It was also very dog friendly, as fellow patrons sat nearby with their leashed besties. Also, several dog bowls for water were around. I've heard the pizza here is great, and I will definitely be back to try it and pair it with some of the stellar brews.“

There's a certain grit that gets baked into the street food in Chicago that they don't have in this part of Oakland, but for the Bay Area this is about as authentic as it is going to get. “Full disclosure: I'm more of a wine drinker than a beer one. Physically I think this place is a beautiful place to hang out. It's kind of a modern industrial take on a biergarten with high ceilings and lots of wood and stainless steel. I've never seen it anything but spotlessly clean. When the weather is warm I definitely prefer hanging out on the patio area in front. They don't serve food themselves, but they sometimes have a food truck and are totally fine with you bringing in outside food. There are a handful of great food choices within walking distance.They're known for their IPAs which aren't usually my jam, but there are always other interesting options to try. For example I had their new "Dark Headed" Imperial Stout on my last visit and really enjoyed it. (It was almost like a dessert wine, but beer if that makes any sense?) They also have taster pours so you can sample one or build a custom flight.It does get a little busy on Friday around happy hour and on weekends. But the service has always been friendly and knowledgeable. I've never had to wait long for drink either. It's obvious they take pride in the product and what they do. They go above and beyond and I am happy to applaud them for it.“

“This brewery is phenomenal. Lots of selection and rotation moves fast. The inside can be tight but the outside there is a space for kids to play and even a spot to reserve a party. Every once in a while they will have a jazz band that plays which is great to enjoy with the family.This brewery will do classics, IPA’s and even some unique beers like a mushroom porter. No matter what though the beer is always quality. The customer service is great and they have trivia nights, game nights, and live music.The only negative I can give this place is the beers are small batch and rotate fast. Once you get used to a beer more then likely it won’t be back which sucks cus they’re all really good. Highly recommend!“

Michael really kills it with all of his regular menu items and totally knocks it out of the park with his specials! Oh, and the beer…??!! Delicious.
