I was utterly disappointed by the so-called Mexican-Italian fusion restaurant. To begin with, the host informed us of a 20-minute wait, only to seat us outdoors a whopping 44 minutes later under two flimsy carport canopies held together by bungee cords. The entire setup looked tacky and rundown, to put it mildly. Our order was taken by a young lady in a green t-shirt and jeans. We tried the Cafe de la olla, which was diluted and poorly prepared, and the horchata, which was essentially 4 ounces of rice water drowned in 85% ice and priced at an outrageous $13. The profit margins for the restaurant must be through the roof with such practices. Moving on to the food, the Brussel sprouts were decent, but the sweet potato ceviche was a disaster. It contained some crunchy bits in a watery crema, with flavorless and off-putting layers. The pamzerotti was essentially an oversized, undercooked empanada filled with chorizo and potatoes that lacked any discernible taste. The aguachile was a far cry from authentic, tasting like a sad and uninspiring version compared to what one might find from a street vendor in Mexico City. My carne en su jugo arrived almost an hour after ordering, made with braised beef that was inexplicably accompanied by only three pinto beans in the sauce. The so-called "Italian tortilla" turned out to be nothing more than a flour tortilla from a common brand. This establishment feels like a pretentious joke catered to hipsters, showing little respect for the dedication and passion that real chefs put into their creations. The exorbitant prices on the menu only confirm that profit is the main priority here.
