“I ordered the pho soup and man I would this is the best pho I’ve had in America. Not gonna lie, the thai tea is amazing and that boba too.“

“Beast Pho I ordered the No. 2 Spicy Dac Biet with Spicy Power: Hot. -Grub- It was surprisingly good because it wasn't just them tossing on chili oil, but using some sort of Chili Crisp-like sauce. It had dried chili peppers, chili oil, and what tasted like fermented beans mixed in as well which resulted in a spicy, salty, savory mix. What you get with the spicy Pho is less of the original Pho broth (which is still great on its own) but more of the spicy, salty, and savory parts of the spicy sauce. Spicy Power: Hot is somewhere between the higher end of Jalapeño and Serrano. It was a surprisingly tasty experience as I've never tried a restaurant that offered spicy versions of their Pho. -Service- Service was attentive. The workers spoke Korean so I assume the place is Korean owned & operated. What's surprising is that in my experience most Korean-owned Pho restaurant tend to be garbo in quality, but this place wasn't. I will remember that. The lady offered extra water potions which was gratefully accepted as I had already downed mine due to the spicy power. -Misc- I like their metal chairs. Normally, I wouldn't appreciate it, but the metal chairs give off a street food-like vibe which is appropriate here.“

The cold teas we delicious too.“

“After coming here several times, I can safely say I enjoy getting any of their lemongrass Bahn mi's which I usually like pairing with the beef broth. It hits the spot especially after coming out of class. On cold days, I love getting their veggie pho of spicy phos. Staff is friendly. Service can definitely be slow, however, it seems to be largely due to a high volume of online orders. Some days I receive my items more quickly than others. I have seen them accommodate some complex orders & rude customers the many times I've gone here. One thing that can't be beat is the affordability of a lot of menu items. It's my go to spot whenever I'm craving Vietnamese food but not trying to break the bank. Would still recommend if you like to eat Viet food on the regular.“

“For $6 it's a pretty great price for a Vietnamese Sandwich. The #1 seems to come with everything, but we happened to get the #4 this time. Crisp and flakey on the outside with a soft pillowiness on the inside. The flavors are fresh and the jalapeno just a bit spicy.Service wasn't that fast, but it's worth the short wait. Although the atmosphere is a little rundown, it still feels cozy“

“Worth the wait. I avoided the wait as I went before the lunch rush on a Saturday morning. Around 10:45am. Their broth is clean, light but flavorful. It was not overly sweet like some places. The eggrolls were the rice paper kind and not the wonton type. It was super crispy and right amt of chewy. Spring rolls were equally delicious. Found meter parking outside. Would definitely return.“

“If you're interested in trying popular Vietnamese entrees outside of pho, head over to Be U! This woman-owned eatery is located in a prime hipster Echo Park neighborhood, and to me, it's a perfect blend of my culture superimposed on Los Angeles's colorful cityscape. The menu ranges from homey comfort-food entrees to popular street bites, and some new-age fusion items as well. Atmosphere: 2/5 As a take-out-only restaurant located on Hoover Street, there's no seating and it faces traffic. If only there were some colorful plastic chairs (like the ones you see in SE Asia) - the vibes would be immaculate. However, you're either standing and eating or taking the food back to your home. Service: 3/5 Wasn't bad but wasn't warm or friendly either - service was okay Flavors: 5/5 Highly recommend: -Banh mi trung op la (banh mi with fried egg): homemade mushroom pate is delicious, it inspired me to make some at home. The egg was crispy to the heavens. -Rau ma juice: in English known as pennyworth, extremely refreshing, herbal, and will cool you down on a hot day. -Tofu goi cuon (spring rolls): The peanut sauce offered with this was so yummy! The spring rolls were super fresh and all the herbs complemented the flavors. Parking: 2/5 Street parking only, very limited Pricing: 3/5 Definitely not cheap for Vietnamese food, however, LA is a high-cost-of-living area so I understand that the owner needs to maintain overhead costs and pay her employees a fair wage! Expect to pay $4-5 higher than what you're used to paying in the OC/SJ/SGV. The reason why I rate it low is because the portions are significantly smaller than what you'd get at a traditional sit down Vietnamese restaurant Overall I recommend Be U if you're unfamiliar with Vietnamese food outside of mainstream pho, but if you're willing to drive to SGV, Garden Grove/Westminster, you'll be truly immersed in the cuisine and culture“

“We almost drove right by the restaurant because there was no sign, but fortunately we found our way in to the cozy bungalow dining room. We ordered the turmeric fish hotpot which was full of flavor with crispy rice and soft flavor fish that was amazing. Everything else we ordered did not disappoint--the watercress salad with beef was fresh and tender, steamed rice cakes with shredded shrimp and taro root crispy rolls were unique spins on traditional dishes that were really shareable and delicious. Definitely will come back!“

“We wanted something healthy but flavorful for dinner and happened upon this place in the neighborhood, pretty no frills on the inside. Clearly a big focus on deliveries, but there's plenty of tables. We each got a steak banh mi and WOW was it good! So much flavor, and the bread was perfect; hard enough to hold it together, but easy to bite into. The crispy spring rolls were perfect as well, clearly freshly made and decently sized. We also split some noodles and were pleasantly surprised by the portion sizes. Definitely will be back.“

“Best pho I've ever had in my life. There's so much in there I was full for 18 days. During this time I was transported to nirvana valhalla and Betelgeuse. I returned in our own time as if only a second had past. Damon the owner greeted me and offered my samples and told me their process for making all the delicious soy based nuggets, they have pictures of all the menu items so very easy to order. Good opportunity to use google translate and brush up on your Vietnamese. cảm ơn bạn từ tận đáy lòng“

“This is where my mom would get banh mis for us when I was little and I just recently re-discovered them! The #1 Thit Nguoi or cold cuts is my version of THEE traditional banh mi. There's no where else you need to go. The fresh bread is crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. When you order, you can choose from the football shape or the baguette shaped bread. Scratch pate, cold cuts, daikon, carrots, cilantro, and thinly shaved jalapeños. Service is straightforward and fast! Corner store vibes but Vietnamese :) Parking is also plentiful. Ugh my heart is so happy!!“

“My friend recommended this place for the chicken banh mi and egg roll I tried it It was really good, the chicken was tasty and the bread was soft, not the rubber type bread. I tried the egg roll also it was good but not my favorite. Cash only and it's just to go food.“

“The parking structure right behind it can get pretty packed, but we have never had trouble parking there during prime dinner time. We have also never waited to be seated here, although the restaurant is quite bustling. Service is polite and very quick. If you are hungry, come here as your food comes out fast. The soup tastes light, but flavorful. Compared to other pho restaurants in the area, I feel like the broth does not rely on seasonings as much for flavor. They are also generous with the meat in the soups. The large doesn't look much larger than the medium, but it actually is. I can easily finish a medium soup, but cannot finish the large at all.The inside is clean and casual, with minimal decor. Perfect for a quick, casual meal with friends.“

“The fish banh xeo was excellent, i think this is probably the best banh xeo (been to about 10 places so far between SGV, Rowland Heights and Westmin) in LA for a few reasons - crispy, aromatic shell, balanced ratio of everything each bite. The bite itself - clean, not oily and the nuoc cham works perfectly with this dish. Highly recommended. Price was as expected and the portion was perfect for an extra bit of take home. Mind you, the entrance appears sketch as heck, but we're talking about Garvey blvd, this is the norm. But inside, you'll get a very gracious host and familial vibes.“

“We were craving for some banh xeo (kind of like a savory crepe, if you will) but didn't feel like going to a sit-down restaurant. This is a to-go spot...small space with only about four high top chairs...so definitely a grab n go casual place. The female cashier was friendly and originally, we had our mind set on two orders (boxes) of banh xeo. But she was nice enough to suggest ordering one box and add on the additional $8 for a second piece of banh xeo instead. This was delicious!! Plenty of shrimp & pork...and they don't skim you on portions either. When you wrap the lettuce around, add the carrots, basil and dip that into their house fish sauce.....holy moly...so flavorful and fresh! I love how the crepe was lightly crisped on the edges. Thanks to Yelp for helping me discover Tay Ho.“

“Small location, drove by it three times before I found it. If looks could be deceiving was a restaurant, this is it. Looking at the location you may think, eh, idk if should eat here. But let me tell you, the cost was great $14 for a nice portion of PHO. The flavor was delicious, the meat was tender, and the broth was on point. The staff was very friendly, they made sure I had everything I needed. They even have a drive thru, never seen anything like it. A must try if you're in the area.“

“Best bowl of pho I’ve had in the LA area so far! Got the beef stew pho and it was absolutely delicious. Also had a taro slushie with boba and it was not too sweet and the boba had a nice texture to it. Prices weren’t too bad as well and great portion sizes. Will be back!“

“Service is slow. Pay upfront with your ticket number. There was a fly in the free soup they give.... And they took forever to bring another one. They didn't even apologize. - Grilled Pork Chop Broken Rice 4.4/5 The pork chop has good flavor but it was VERY dry and overcooked. Everything else was good. Street parking or market parking.“

“Their specialty is the cage free chicken pho. If you've never had cage free chicken before, note that it's a bit chewy compared to regular chicken since the cage free chicken get more exercise. This doesn't mean it's undercooked. Their food is delicious! It's a cute restaurant attached to a grocery store; they have their own entrance. The staff was friendly as well and speak both Vietnamese and English.“

“Food was good. Service was great from the owner's wife, Helen, herself. The place was very clean and big spaces between tables. There is an added tables from space outside the restaurant uf you see it full. Their table was cut off from a big trunk of a tree which the couple owner designed. If you go to their Vernon Pho in Alameda we should see more of these kind and beautiful tables, Helen said. I give this place a 10 for food, cleanliness and service!“

“Huong Bac is a quintessential "hole-in-the-wall" eatery that surpassed our expectations during a recent out-of-state visit. Craving authentic Banh Cuon led us to this hidden gem.Despite our late arrival—merely 15 minutes before closing time— the lady welcomed us with open arms, allowing us to place our order. We opted for the #9 Banh Cuon Dac Biet and #12 Bun Rieu, eagerly anticipating our meal in the cozy ambiance of the small dining area. The kitchen was bustling, with the gentleman wrapping what seemed to be freshly made Gio Lua.The aroma of sweet and sour fish sauce wafted through the air, a hallmark of genuine Vietnamese cuisine. The wait was about 20 minutes, as the lady needed to boil water anew for our noodles and steam the Banh Cuon. She apologized for the delay, though we insisted it was our oversight for arriving late.Tasting the Banh Cuon at our hotel room was revelatory. The rice rolls were thin, the batter didn't make the banh cuon "cakey" nor runny, it maintains a delightful stretchiness. The seasoning of the meat and mushrooms was spot-on, with the addition of meat floss and fried onions enhancing the aroma. The Gio Lua boasted a pleasant chewiness without being mushy. However, the real standout was the house-made sweet and sour chili fish sauce—a masterful blend that added an explosive burst of sweet, tangy, and spicy flavors that I fell in love with their banh cuon instantly. As I'm writing this, I haven't had the chance to try the Bun Rieu yet because I was eager to share my exceptional experience with the Banh Cuon. It was so memorable that I felt compelled to write this review immediately. If I ever return to the area, Huong Bac will definitely be on my must-visit list!“

“ive been coming here now for close to 3 months. absoutely love this place. they know me and my bf now because we order EVERY dish with extra meat. hahha. add shrimp to everything it tastes amazing. we have gotten thai dishes, soups, and banh-mi sandwhiches and we love it all, infact .... its too hard to decide so when I go I just order everything and take it home for left overs. typically we go now 1-2 times a week and make it a routine. its too good to pass up. this is a local gem!Parking: easy , its a big lot, if you go at night parking is simple, during day maybe alittle harder because there are only like 10-20 spots, but never had a problem ever.“
