Salt & Straw is located in the redevelopment area of Sac. It is located at the old Ice House. Yes, ice house, where they use to make blocks of ice for early refrigerators.Parking is great. There is frontal parking as well as street parking. The neighborhood is safe and there are plenty of people walking around. Tables out front to enjoy your dessert.Now for the ice cream. My kids had a Lavemder Honey ice cream scoop and my son has the snickers ice cream. Both were very good. Staff here are very friendly and best of all, offers samples . “This is a burger joint and in that context it's a great restaurant. First of all their prices and portions are better than anyone around . They have excellent fries and chicken burgers and the milkshakes are better than anywhere around. We were really pleasantly surprised. Also the customer service is great- it's not your usual burger spot in that regard- the guys working there are really sweet/ hard working!“

They have daily rotating flavors, so every visit will be different. You can check out their instagram to find out what they're currently serving. I tasted the more "unique" flavors, like cornbread and salted egg yolk potato chip. They tasted fine, but the flavor profiles didn't stand out too much for me. Meanwhile, the more "basic" flavors like sea salt and ube were strong. As in not subtle at all. It was amazing! I opted to do a half and half single scoop of both flavors, which was pretty generous in serving. The only downside was that it was so hot outside that my ice cream immediately started melting. An older man (the owner maybe?) came out and said we were sitting at a Menchie table, so of course he was now forced to give us some free samples ❤️ this was about 30 mins before they opened as well and he went to another group too at a Menchie table, and even gave a couple sitting at an outdoor Melty table free samples too. “Nice clean and cozy spot. Service not there didn't greet , didn't explain things and also notice while there they didn't greet anyone or really help with service. I ordered the orange Popsicle, when I asked how to pronounce it he just translated what it was. I'm assuming one isn't supposed to chew the Popsicle because there were hard seeds in it that could have broke me teeth. If you know what you want and don't need help this is the place for you but don't expect help if it's your first time. At the end one person said " welcome in " the other four did not.“

“I was torn whether to give "Crumbl Cookies" an average 3-star rating or be kind and generous by going with a 4-star rating. So I figure this experience is worth 3.5 stars which averages out to 4. This takes me to their North Natomas location (at the Promenade at Sacramento Gateway shopping center) which was actually tougher to find than I had anticipated. This place shares the same parking lot as Target, Burlington, TJ Maxx, and Off Broadway shoes but Crumbl is on the very end of all these stores. I arrived during the evening of Saturday 5/18/2024 at around 7:15pm. Fortunately, many Crumbl locations have very generous hours as this location is open until midnight on Friday/Saturday nights and until 10pm Monday through Thursday. Keep in mind that all of their locations are closed for business on Sunday. As far as the interior, this place is fairly standard as what I've seen at other locations complete with a digital kiosk that makes the ordering process way easier. One thing that deters me from coming here more often would have to be the price! Don't get me wrong but spending close to $45 for a dozen cookies ain't a drop in the bucket. However, I've found their cookies to be delicious, fresh, moist, and packed with flavor. During my most recent experience, I went with (3) mini coookies; semi-sweet chocolate chip, French toast, and wedding cake which were priced at $8.99 (including tax) for the trio. They were given to me in a small lavender colored box. Once making the 15 minute drive home, I was surprised that these still had a warm, gooey, and fresh out-of-the-oven taste to them. My only gripe is that they're packed with a lot of sugar. So if you are diabetic or watching your blood sugar levels, I wouldn't advise going too overboard on these. Aside from that, this was a decent above average experience. The employees were friendly, quick, and attentive. My rating (as noted) for the Natomas "Crumbl Cookies", 4 stars.“

“Want to be transported back in time? You absolutely need to stop at Vic's ice cream shop in East Sacramento. There is a small adjacent parking lot and plenty of street parking around. Expect somewhat long lines on warm weekends. You can also grab a seat at the counter or a booth. There is limited seating. They have a small menu of hot food items, but what they're known for are their desserts and ice cream! I got a small sunday of strawberry cheesecake ice cream with hot caramel and fresh pineapple with a cherry and whipped cream. Delicious! Their top Seller is the chocolate mint ice cream which smells heavenly of mint. All their ice cream is made fresh in house. They also have a secret menu. Ask for the suicide drink next time. This is a great nostalgic local shop that's been around since 1947.“

They have a humongous selection of toppings in 3 different areas along with hot fudge and other sauces. We tried the non-fat chocolate-vanilla mix and the NY cheesecake; both were pretty darn good and didn't taste like fake flavors. We got small servings as we had just eaten lunch but they were very reasonable at $3.60 and $4.35 with a few light toppings. It is self serve and the cashier was friendly. “I just recently visited Del Valle Antojitos y Neveria (located on the side of Del Valle Supermarket), and ordered a custom banana split. I can't believe this place only has one Yelp review so far! Their concha ice cream sandwiches are all over Instagram. I was going to order a concha ice cream sandwich, but they had already sold out of their conchas (which they bake fresh in store each morning) for the day. The shop was so cute, and highly Instagrammable. The walls are painted pink, and decorated with die-cut wooden posters of Mexican sweets. The staff was super patient, friendly, and helpful. I asked if I could change out the flavors and toppings in the banana split, and they said 'Of course!' For my ice cream flavors, I asked for Pistachio, Ferrero, and Strawberries with queso. For toppings, I asked for Fruity Pebbles and Sour Gummy Worms, but she also added the standard coconut and granola, which came out delicious. There was also whipped cream, chocolate sauce, cherries, sprinkles, and of course, the banana. (I also saw a Gansito split option on Instagram.) Their ice cream is made in house, and it shows in the flavor. My favorite ice cream was the Strawberries with queso, and then the Nutella. Although I liked the Pistachio flavor, I thought that it was way too heavy on the Pistachio extract. I was thinking that it probably needs an alcohol content warning (as the extract contains about 35% alcohol). Overall, this was probably the best banana split I've ever had in my life. This shop is so cute, and they offer all kinds of Mexican snacks and desserts, like mangonadas, fresas con crema, elote, Doritos locos, etc. All of their goodies are made "extra," as in lovingly, over the top, and cute enough to show off on Instagram. In addition to the regular concha ice cream sandwiches, which come with two scoops of ice cream, they also have a mega concha, which comes with five scoops, and is meant to serve at least two people. In addition to the regular mangonada, they also offer a 'Del Valle' version with house made chamoy, chamoygetti, a tamarind cuchara and straw, and other Mexican candies (this is what I want to try next). This shop reminds me of the shops I go to when I visit my family in Southern California. This is the first time I've found anything as good in NorCal! I'm so glad I found this place.
