Delis in Astoria

Lunch Stop Deli Deli • $

“We arrived a little too early before the restaurant opened, but the waitress let us in 30 mins early. We were hungry and wanted to order lamb chops. Alas, we had to order veal instead. And I asked for a tarama -my starting point for any Greek meal and lemon potatoes, another favorite of mine. The veal was tender and delicious and tarama along with warm bread was very tasty. Gregory's Corner is perhaps one the best small taverna in Astoria. What they lack in choices on the menu, they make up in service. The waitress who took our order was really on point and gave us solid recommendations. Gregory's is a nice cozy spot with a truly Mediterranean feel. The tables are well-spaced, and the decor is bright and breezy. Outside the restaurant is a little hard to make out up the street and is covered with too much foliage. The entrance is not clearly marked. Inside you can hear the waitress and owner arguing and speaking in Greek. It got a little intence at times, but was fun“

L & M Italian Deli And Catering Deli •

“Chicken parm hero. Boom. Do it. Cash prices are cheaper as is the status quo in this neighborhood. In addition to sandwiches and the beverage cooler you can get cold cuts and a few other items here. It's a small space but the service is good and the sandwich is unrivaled.“

Steve Chu's Deli & Grocery Deli •
Astoria

“Came in a pinch! Happy I found this deli on a work outing early one morning. Delicious egg sandwiches made with care, and Steve was super friendly and helpful. Clean store—good vibes too. Loved that he had a clearly printed menu I could look at since I hate squinting up at signs. You can tell it’s one of those local hidden gem delis—I’m eager to visit again when I’m in the area! Note: it is cash only.“

George’s Deli Deli • $
36-19 28th Ave, Astoria

“Surprised to see the negative reviews here, as I've been consistently ordering from George's and haven't noticed a decline in quality. I stopped in here on my long walk to Astoria park to enjoy the gorgeous weather and was promptly served. My typical go-to's at George's are the 114 (a BLT with an egg and avocado on whole wheat toast with mayo), their hot start breakfast wrap (chipotle chicken, egg whites, pepper jack cheese and avocado), or a chopped cheese which they do very well here. But on this day I was more in the mood for something simple - a roast beef on a roll with lettuce, mayo, salt, and pepper. This deli might be one of the last affordable bodegas that offer quality ingredients. Their deli meats aren't the cheap stuff, this roast beef was moist and tender, with that pink in the middle instead of the grey you find at other spots. My sandwich also came to just under $7, which I think is a solid deal for the amount of meat they pile on here. Service here is prompt, even when I order delivery I never wait longer than a half hour or so, which is a record for this area. Inside, they have a ton of snack options, pretty much anything you could possibly be in the mood for to pair with your sandwich. I appreciate that in addition to typical sandwich fare they also have fried options like buffalo wings or fries, if you're in the mood to be really bad.“
