4 Best Italian Restaurants near Lake Placid

“Caffe Rustica Read our review guidelines Choose a star rating on a scale of 1 to 5 Good Saved Food Service Ambiance Date of visit: 4.20.24 6-7pm. We live in the local area and as our go to restaurant was unexpectedly closed we decided to try Caffe Rustica. So my wife and I arrived without reservations and were told that they expected more people to arrive, but they did have a table for us. The greeter, who did not introduce herself, asked us to wait and after about 5 minutes were escorted to a table for two. The greeters appearance and demeanor needs improvement. Needs more appropriate attire and greeting verbiage. Ambience was very nice, but a little too dark for us as the menu was hard to read. A couple who arrived minutes later, and sat at the table next to us, used their cell phones light. Our server arrived in a timely manner, who did not introduce herself, and we ordered 2 Manhattans, straight up and also our menu selections. I had asked to server to take her time, no rush. The salads arrived along with warm bread, vinegar and oil. very good. - no drinks yet. Finally our drinks arrived after almost finishing our salad. The Manhattans arrived in a non-traditional glasses - not appropriate! We tasted the drinks and they absolutely terrible. Almost straight whiskey. When the server arrived I told her that they were not drinkable. We ordered red wine, which was great. Our meals, Melanzana Arrabiata & Sweet Thai Chile Shrimp were excellent. Had two expresso coffees and cheese cake. Again excellent. Our server, Heather L., was excellent. Attentive and well dressed. I observed another server, male, 40-50, who looked slovenly because of his attire just came out of the dryer! Overall, I rate this restaurant an 8 out of 10. We would try it again.“

“An excellent Italian restaurant! We stumbled upon this place after our car broke down and while waiting for repairs, decided to at least make the best of being in town for a couple days. We loved their food so much, we had to come back for one more meal to try other items on the menu.I love that they had homemade bread and dipping oil provided with every meal and my favorite winter beer — Cold Snap on draft. We had excellent pasta meals and I loved the vegetarian options.Thank you so much for making our trip to Lake Placid memorable.“

“My friends and I had just finished a very long hike to Mount Marcy and it was dark and we were quite famished. We called Main Street Pizza & Pasta and there was just barely enough time to order and pick up pizza before they closed. We kept it simple and ordered two large Grandma's pizzas. They were fantastic! Initially I thought that maybe it was so good because we were just so spent and hungry. But the next afternoon while driving home we ate the handful of leftover slices and they were just so good too. So I would definitely recommend this place. Oh, and the owner was pretty down to Earth and friendly.“

“Fantastic! Haven't been to Lake Placid in about 15 years. Ordered a large pepperoni and the pizza is wonderful. It's perfectly cooked, flavorful and the pepperoni under the cheese ensures that it stays in place when you take a bite. The owner is super friendly and checked me out himself. The place is huge, with dozens of tables. I hope Mr. Mike's is full to the brim with customers during the 'on' season, as he deserves it for the wonderful food and service.“
