So lately Ed Elton Acepcion and I have been discussing a lot of side theory. I noticed that the $5 chalupa box at Taco Bell is higher EV than the $5 nacho box. However, the problem is that the chalupa box doesn't contain nacho fries, while the nacho box does. So Ed suggested asking TB if they could do swaps on the nacho fries in a chalupa engine. I showed up to test this theory, but wouldn't you know it, I arrive at exactly 3:00 am - the time that TB closes. Important side lesson - ALWAYS watch the clock and make sure you avoid going into time. Fortunately, this JITB is open one hour longer than the Taco Bell across the street, so I skipped on over and tested a different side theory: can I swap half/half curly/regular fries to all curly? The cashier allowed it (and I didn't have to appeal). She told me she doesn't usually do this but that she'd do it just this once for me. Regardless of whether or not that's true, it was a great approach to customer service. I felt like the only customer in the world. Which I kinda was because it was 3 in the morning. Anyway, I don't expect to see any Jack in the Box in Guatemala but I do know that Taco Bell is fairly well represented there - it seems backwards, but that's just Mexico's meta for you.
