“Okay so, everyone is SUPER friendly and wants to make you feel welcome. It's old and not pretentious, the bartenders/servers will talk to you and share the history of the place. The drinks were decent, the food wasn't really there. They're super limited by having an airfryer and toaster oven type situation. Would I go back? Heck yes. The regulars were so nice and welcoming. Would I plan to eat dinner there? Probably not. But it's a dive bar, with dive bar food... the menu on Google is definitely not the menu you will find there. Go for a beer or two and make some new friends, it's worth the check out.“

“I absolutely love the bartender Kimi.. She is a wonderful person and probably the only reason I come here as often as I do..Best bartender ever..I ordered the steak breakfast.. I gotta say, they had a substitute cook today and it's a "Tavern".. but everything was perfect, except the steak.. I ordered it medium and got it well done and tough.. I know it's not a steakhouse and it was a cheap cut of steak.. So it is what it is..I will try it again, when there is not a substitute cook.. “The food was amazing and service was very friendly. I have seen some bad reviews from people, but they all have ordered their food and had delivered. Not sure if they didn't tip and their order took time to get picked up, but not restaurants fault. I highly recommend the Thai chicken wings, elephant ear, and fettuccine. “We came here for a late lunch after doing an escape room. The food was really good! Two of us are vegan, one is vegetarian, and the other two are omni. Most of us ate vegan/vegetarian and really enjoyed our meals! The server was fantastic and our meals were really affordable (most of us spent $25 total). It is a dive bar, so the noise level was expected (it's hard to hear and you have to shout). It was also really dark in there. But nothing that would keep us from coming back! I highly recommend the vegan nachos! They were amazing.“

“This is one of my favorite places to go in Tacoma. The food is awesome, the music is cool, the atmosphere reminds me of my younger years of frequenting goth clubs, and they have pinball and skee ball, and a couch to sit on. If I had to say anything negative, it's that parking can be challenging, but that's just 56th street in Tacoma and nothing the Church Cantina can help. Great place to be on a Saturday night.“

“Real cool local spot within UP. My wife and I just came by for a quick drink and an appetizer. Full bar, rotating beer on tap, and decent amount selection to choose from. Nice, Clean & Inviting.Parking: I parked 3 blocks away at City Hall because I was going there afterwards. There is a free parking lot 1 block away plus street parking, if you want to parallel park. ? I don't. I could walk there. It's only 7 blocks from my house.“

“Since I’ve been to this dive bar several times over the last few months, it has easily been one of my favorite bars in Tacoma. The atmosphere has been cozy and usually allows conversations to flow with the person next to you without having to shout at each other to hear. I’ve never been disappointed with the food and drinks either, the new menu face-lift has more options than before, with the fried cheese curds, the Korean pork belly tacos, and the hot honey lemon pepper wings being my personal favorites. The staff and the owners are talented and genuine people, with Drew and Cody working wonders behind the bar while Deven is usually cooking up something great. Every once in a while, there’s live music or karaoke which have been fun to attend to. When the weather is nice, the outside patio situation has been great to mingle but on rainy days we like to hangout and play pool. Overall, I really enjoy my time here and try to recommend it when I can!Parking: More parking behind the bar.“

“The service was top-notch! Our server was amazing and knew the timing of the meal and even suggested different drinks options when items weren't available.The atmosphere was lovely for a date night. It's cozy and intimate with a classy feel inside the restaurant.The tables for 2 feel very small especially when ordering a flight with food. It would be nice to allow smaller parties to sit at bigger tables so it doesn't feel like we're squished. We had some close calls with almost knocking drinks on the floor because there wasn't room at the small table.I'm spoiled with amazing steaks, but my $44 steak was just okay. The fat was hard and the steak didn't taste that great. My boyfriend's truffle burger was amazing though. We split his meal and I took my steak to-go.They offer a variety of flights, but I'm not sure why Elijah Craig is on it? Maybe it's just preference, but EC is not great. If they did a Four Roses, Johnny Walker, Macallan or even an Argbeg scotch flight would've made it more interesting and taste better than EC.I was so incredibly happy to see Pappy on the menu!!! However, someone bought the bottle so it was unavailable. So sad!! I first tried Pappy in Atlanta and fell in love. Sadly, it's so hard to find. Please leave the bottles for restaurant patrons to enjoy! The Weller's was enjoyable.The Arancini appetizer was delicious.It was nice there's a range of prices on the menu and they have a happy-hour until 5 or 5:30pm with delicious looking drinks on the menu.They offer dessert cocktails with chocolate and espresso - a nice change from the traditional sweets. I did order the olive oil cake though. It tasted oddly like fruit cake, so it wasn't what I expected. It was still good though.Parking isn't ideal at dinner time on a Friday night, but wasn't too terrible. We found street parking down the street and around the corner. But, this area does get busy. We got there around 5:30pm. I imagine it got busier later on, so maybe we just timed it right.Cute place. I'm sure we will be back.“

“Great little dive bar by the Tacoma Dome. It appeared that there was only a bartender and a cook on duty so we had to serve ourselves and order from the bar which wasn't a problem since it wasn't too busy. The cheeseburgers and pizza bread was great. Music was a little too loud for having normal conversation with our friends.“

“When my friend and I are in the mood to go out dancing we head to Dawson's. I find a lot of Joy in dancing and don't mind dancing all night by myself. We especially like to go when the T-Birds are playing. The last time we went my dentist Dr. Hickey was filling in for them. Next time I go, I will probably be when he is playing with his band. “This is really cool! When you arrive you check in at the counter and get your bracelet. Then you serve your own drinks! This means you can sample as many as you like and you don't have to commit to a drink you're unsure of. The indecisive person's dream come true! The staff were friendly and were kind in answering questions. You can sit on chairs around a coffee table or there is a table that has swings for chairs. Fun but can be hard to sit on for a long time. Next time I'm in Tacoma I want to come back here!“

“Our first time visiting and we are glad we went! A good hometown feel. The kids had the pancake kids meal which came with a drink and they chose hot chocolate. A mug full with a huge whipped cream top. Cute pancake with a side of meat. Don’t let the photos fool you! The kids pancake was plenty for my 11 yr old and the adult versions are, no lie, bigger than your head! We had great service from Ashley who always checked on us and made sure the kids were happy along with Betty who even gave the kids balloons once they were finished. I recommend a visit to this place.“

“I have been to many burger joints and this one is epic! The onion rings were nice and crispy. The burger was fresh and delicious. The server was excellent and attentive. “Stopped in for the famous fried 1/2 chicken and it is delish! Took a while but worth the wait, it's a one person bar service. They have been there since the 1800s! Full bar, small and cozy place with a small pool table. Lots of locals here.Not a favorable place for the little ones. There is no disabled access.“

“I had never heard of this bar before, I started coming when Sheri posted she was working here. I knew her from some other places so I was excited to check out something new and something close to home. We came a few times and really enjoyed the food. We came once when it was Sheri’s day off and the service was horrible. The bar had maybe 2 people, and there were 2 tables occupied. We were told we had to order at the bar. I could see the if it was busy…but why if it was so slow? We have definitely noticed a significant improvement since the previous manager left…not only more people but the people who work here just seem friendlier and the food has improved. My friends and I come often for the tacos on Tuesdays (which are so good) and we are happy to see the place so crowded and doing well!“

“We stopped in after a day of golf, as we hadn't been here in a long time. The bartender, Jennifer, was quick to wait on us and take our order. The food came out fast and was hot and the fries were cooked perfectly. Upon eating the burgers we found them to be delicious and huge! The margarita and draft beer was good as well. The music was a little bit too loud as we had a difficult time hearing each other so we ate in silence. With such a small area it doesn't need to be that loud, in our opinion.“

Pull tabs and sports on the tube. Full bar (no one under age tho). The train goes by at least every 30 minutes and the water is right outside the doors. People are friendly too.“

“We stayed nearby at an airbnb and found U Betcha Pub charming. I would say it's a regular spot for locals but everyone was super friendly and welcoming. The food is really good, it's "bar food" but that's what we wanted. We had hamburgers and chicken burgers both were delicious and generous sized portions. Decent selection of IPA's on tap which my adult son enjoyed. I like a nice cocktail and the bartender didn't disappoint! There's just something about that sign that felt nostalgic, we had to try. We went back a 2nd time too. Also great music, and the jukebox is one you can do by your phone. I didn't know but my kid did. Again, give it a try, service is excellent, food is great, and other customers welcoming.“

“Place was extremely busy on Saturday night so there was a little bit of a wait to get seated. However everything else was absolutely amazing. The live musician set a really cool ambiance. And the food was fantastic. We started with the stuffed mushrooms which were probably the best appetizer I’ve had anywhere in a long time. I got the shrimp and grits as my main. I had never had that dish before and I was very pleasantly surprised. My girlfriend got the shrimp fry and was pleased as well. Portions were nice and big and the drinks were good too. 10/10 would recommend.“

“One of my Top 5 places to eat in Tacoma. Really good BBQ food, CenTex-style (with sauces on the side for those who want them). I've had over half the menu and loved everything, but the Opal Burger with egg is my fav. Solid taplist, incredible whisky selection. Kitchen is scrupulously clean, there is outdoor seating at the front and in the back, for when the weather suits. The owners are great folks and work weekdays if you want to meet them - which I recommend!“
