Visited for dinner for the first time as I heard they are closing this iconic restaurant after 24 years. I’m not too familiar with Hungarian cuisine, I enjoyed everything I had tonight. My favorite was chicken paprikash, it is tomato based stew with chicken, served with home made spaetzel. Service is casual and friendly, it was a lovely restaurant!

Absolutely fantastic family restaurant. Always huge portions and amazing comfort food. Congrats to the owners on their upcoming retirement. Get there while you can and enjoy this Calgary institution.

I was raised in a large Hungarian family growing up but lost touch with a lot of my family when I moved out West. After recently moving to Calgary and hearing that there was a Hungarian Restaurant, I couldn't wait to go. The Restaurant is usually pretty busy, and it took a while before I was finally able to get in. The restaurant is small, modestly decorated and simple. The food is delicious to say the least. The portions of good and reasonably priced for such high-quality food. It brought back so many fond memories of my childhood. I absolutely loved it. I love the fact that the Husband was in the back cooking and his wife was out front serving. I will be coming back with the rest of my family next time and will try to come back as much as I can in the coming months as the owners will be retiring soon. My only regret is not moving to Calgary sooner and finding this place years ago. Do yourself a Favour and eat here while you still can.

First visit on the recommendation of a friend and colleague (who's Hungarian). Saturday night, and it was very busy, but the hostess asked a gentleman sitting on his own if he'd mind sharing a table. What a treat! A recommendation from him, and 2 hours of sparkling conversation. Busy or not, the chicken paprikash arrived very quickly, along with a Slovakian beer. I'd opted for the smaller serving of chicken, and it was perfect. The whole meal sat very happily the whole evening, and the entree and beer were an excellent combination. Going to be going back, and going to be systematically working my way through the great menu. And tip-0-the-hat to John, the unexpected and great dinner companion!

This restaurant is unassuming when you look at it from the outside but you immediately love it when you walk in. The decorations are a tribute to these owners’ heritage and so welcoming. And the food - is comforting and delicious! Screams home cooking! So sad that this place won’t be around soon. Make the time to eat here. No regrets - only that my stomach couldn’t hold more!

We were looking for interesting, well-cooked food and we were not disappointed. This restaurant is cosy and you genuinely feel you are in a family resturant in Europe. Rozsa was extremely welcoming and helpful. Our meals were excellent - and great value.

Nice Hungarian restaurant with traditional Hungarian specialties. Food tasted very good, service was fast, menu is great, you can even find there Czech and Slovak beer. The only thing is, that owner of the restaurant was nice to everyone except me and I don’t know why.

I enjoyed a delicious, wholesome Hungarian dish cabbage wrapped in pork meat , sauce which was delicious , I had to get a takeaway dish to finish the 3rd cabbage wrap..Nice surroundings, decoration, quietier early lunch after 11.45am. Service was excellent by the Host of the restaurant ?Parking: 2 hour free parking access along main road to the restaurant

Owner was super busy but she engage you with her sweet talks. Food was really delicious as this was my first time but surely I am really satisfied with over all experience. I will suggest everyone to visit this place once..

Long time fan of Jonas' simple and perfectly executed Hungarian comfort food (particularly the schnitzel, potatoes, and paprikash!) but this week I was really delighted to bring my toddler for his first visit. He loved borrowing a book and some colouring supplies from their little children's library (with English and Hungarian selections!) and he ate so much of the refreshing cucumber yogurt salad that next time we might have to order two portions. We ate there this time but I want to note how well their food travels. In this era of everyone having pivoted to accommodate takeout, Jonas holds up as a solid choice for dining in or at home. Can't wait to be back in again!

I was fortunate to have lived in Hungary for a few years. When I came across this restaurant, I had no option but to give it a try. I must admit that my high expectations were not met…they were exceeded! The dishes my wife and I ordered were spot on. Great flavour and presentation. The owner of the place was present. Her customer service skills and pleasant conversation were the highlight over already amazing and tasty food. I could tell she puts her pride and heart into the food. I had my favourite Hungarian red wine, Egri Bikavér, which is not easy to get in Canada. A place that I highly recommend if you want to try authentic Hungarian food and hospitality.

Jonas is a very nice family feel restaurant, it reminds me of home comfort - and our server was also very friendly. The lighting was really dark though. As for the food, my girlfriend really enjoyed the schnitzel, and it’s a little pricy for the food on the plate.

Really friendly staff and very hearty meals. Great flavour and many traditional Hungarian dishes to choose from.

Both my goulash soup and wiener schnitzel were delicious. Super cozy place and the owner was very friendly and patient. I will definitely go back.

We had a group reservation on a Saturday night and they took superb care of us. The menu had an entree for everyone and the wine and appetizers paired perfectly. The service was prompt and attentive and our sever gently encouraged us to get the larger portions. She was 100% right too.The chicken paprikash and the chocolate walnut crepe are my go to dishes but I look forward to trying more. Definitely recommended for a great hearty meal.
