Had a great experience at Varbar for my partners birthday. Kim, the hostess was fun and knowledgeable, and provided a great experience. The food was unique for Calgary and very delicious. The location was a bit hard to find as they don't have signage up yet, but once inside it's an intimate little spot, music is loud enough that you can't really listen to the nearby tables, but not so much that you have to yell at your party. Will definitely come back here again.
Under the heading “Why didn’t I think of this??”- an amazing concept: Champagne and Fondue! This is a tiny space with a cool vibe. Was taken here for Mother’s Day lunch, and completely enjoyed our experience. Kim was very knowledgeable about the selection of champagnes by the glass, and the house fondue was smooth and flavourful. Note that it is a small space, maybe 4 tables plus two seats at the bar. I absolutely love the atmosphere, there are only 5 spots so it's perfect for an intimate date night. When I first saw the amount of food I was concerned it wasn't going to fill up the 2 of us, but by the time we were done we were full up. The staff is super personable and friendly, and the food is delicious. If you want a tasty drink and plenty of cheese book yourself a table.
