“A restaurant can be judged by how it treats its solo diners.It's one thing to wait hand and foot on a group of two or four, they're worth a significant investment. But a restaurant that also is attentive took a solo diner who will occupy a table but spend only half, that's special. Ten Foot Henry is special.They have optional small portions so the solo diner can still try several dishes, they were attentive but not rushing me out. They made excellent recommendations.I had a cocktail to start, then enjoyed the scallops and their roasted cabbage. All perfect and delicious, of course. The butterscotch pudding was to die for and I finished it off with a tawny port. Exquisite.Overall, a delightful interlude.”

“The best Filipino restaurant in the city!Now I see why this restaurant has received numerous awards.The food was delicious! I had the chicken inasal. Chicken was tender with a BBQ char on the outside. The sauce was a nice mix of sweet and spicy and they gave a generous amount of rice.One of my sides was the Amihan rice. It had a light blend of spices that didn’t overpower the taste of the chicken.There are plenty of food options for you to choose from. Anywhere from authentic Filipino dishes to a cheese burger. You can also purchased baked goods to take home.I’m surprised now cheap the food is! A standard meal with tip is still cheaper than a meal at a fast food joint.It’s a smaller restaurant but it had plenty of space between the tables. It was clean and tidy with murals and artificial plants on the walls as decor.Service was on point! My server was Bee Jay. He was highly attentive to my large group and got out the food and water quickly! He was kind and helpful with any questions we had. I hope to have him again because I will definitely be visiting in the future (there was another girl who helped him out but she was great too!).”
“Markos is great!!!The owner is so friendly as well as the staff. Fantastic food, made with fresh local ingedients and nice to see gluten free options.We enjoyed the bbq plater, white bean soup, two salads, the bread was delicious and the cabbage rolls are the best. Enjoyed the fresh cheese and ketchup they make. Also tried 3 of the desserts, all really good.Nice relaxed atmosphere!Look forward to going back again soon!!!Parking: Lots of parking when we were there.”

“When people talk about "hidden gems" this is exactly what they mean! This is a beautiful Japanese Italian fusion restaurant and every dish is carefully crafted.From the moment we walked in we were treated with the best service and food we've had in a long time. It's a small restaurant but they're popular and book up fast- for good reason.To start we had spicy tuna tartare on housemade chips, and karaage chicken with pesto dip- the dip paired surprisingly well with the deliciously seasoned karaage chicken, made with tender chicken thigh. Both were also good portion sizes for apps.For mains, we had spicy Wagyu bolognese ramen and the Duck Duck Duck dish (duck served 2 ways with penne pasta). The duck was delicious, tender and well cooked but the star was the Wagyu bolognese ramen- such a unique combination but this was hands down the best ramen I've had in a long time! Such a rich savoury broth with tender Wagyu bolognese. It was also a huge portion sizes bowl so we of course had leftovers.Unfortunately we didn't have room for dessert but we'll def try them next time!”

“Went in for a late-night donair and was so impressed with the quality. I got a beef donair and they absolutely packed it with meat. The sauces were tangy, the vegetables fresh and crisp. They also added cheese for a fee, which was immense. Fantastic place, the gentlemen working were polite and friendly. I should add they even threw in a pastry, what a gem of a place.”

“Came in on Saturday with hubby and father and in law. We all enjoyed our meals. Reasonable prices. Food came out fairly quick, and hot too. The garlic dry ribs are delicious, and we tried the Pauls special pizza and was not disappointed! Loaded with toppings and cheese all the way to the crust. Our waitress was very attentive and polite too! I wish i got her name.We will be back ?”

“Food, and service are excellent. Booths are a bit aged but it is clean, well upkept and obviously a hot spot for locals! We were visiting and found it online. Steady stream of customers staying and to go and ordering out. We had the bbq family plate for 3. $60. We were all stuffed and there was still lots left to take home. Our server Mohammad was super friendly and constantly on point with making sure we had everything we needed. They greet you with fresh pressed juice, hot tea and a piece of baklava. Will be back for sure. $60 for the 3 of us. Well worth it. It just made our list of go to's”

That genuine connections, even with food server and total strangers, hold just as much significance as any other bond. Let me tell you, their shawarma and their Service is an absolute winner! I Have been working in the food Industry for many years, I know how it feels to be recognized and to be appreciated. They Deserved the highest rating. This is based from my experience from JERUSALEM SHAWARMA. Every once in a while I have time to swing by, they've nailed it—consistently great taste and always a generous serving. And those fries? Oh boy, always fresh and the perfect sidekick to the main dish with the aroma of the super duper amazing garlic sauce on the side. With a black complimentary. (Im dying) lol. I've been around the block in the food and customer service Industry for about 15 years. My partner, who's a passionate chef, and I are quite picky about where we eat. But let me tell you, Jerusalem Shawarma Shop really impressed us. But what sealed the deal for me was their customer service. Yes! That is the most essential part of the business. There was this awesome guy, I think his name was France or Francis—apologies if I got that wrong—anyway, he was top-notch! Seriously, their service went above and beyond, even the other guy who prepared our Shawarma Wrap. kudos to their team, making our meal on the 12th of December truly memorable. Limited menu choice, but home cooked and genuine Eritrean/Ethiopian food. Some dishes may be too spicy for those not used to 'hot' food. Take the plunge and eat with your fingers - a genuine experience.”

Be early, reception will send you at NUPO bar before you’ll be invited over to the secret door leading to your seat. 2. FOOD There are no words to describe the gastronomical experience this 15-course dinner (with snacks) offered. All the superlatives can be used. Fall in love with the plethora of Canadian ingredients married into the greatness Chef Darren’s mind. Well intentioned sourcing of fresh local, farm owned ingredients in your plate. Each made great with time whether it’s the reclaimed dairy cow’s beef, cured bacon goodness — it’s clear! (yum) and rich chicken broth. “I had dinner tonight at The Himalayan (17 Ave SW). It was my first time here, and only my second Nepalese restaurant I’ve been to. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable and very kind. The restaurant is clean, and intimate. Parking isn’t ideal, but that’s not their fault! I started with the pork momos as an appetizer. They were excellent, but quite expensive ($16 for six regular-sized dumplings). The flavour was great, and they tasted very fresh. For my main, I had Chicken Dal Bhatt, which came with three small dishes of meat and curry and lentils, along with rice, naan and some side dishes. Each of the individual dishes had incredible flavour. They were also hot and fresh, as were the momos. The meal was served on a metal platter, and the small bowls were also metal. It was beautifully presented. As soon as I finished my main meal, the waiter offered me a chai and mango pudding (included in the meal). The chai was aromatic and spicy and earthy and amazing! The mango pudding was icy cold (also in a metal dish), and hit the spot at the end of the meal. For my appetizer and main meal, I opted for mild / zero spice. Everything was so flavourful I don’t regret this decision. However next time, I’ll live a little and try the medium heat. Overall, this was a 10/10 for me and I’m really glad I had the chance to try out this restaurant!!”

First of all 12:00 noon on a Monday I don't know who was serving and cooking but the server was wonderful and welcoming. And as for the cook, he knows how to make a damn burger! I ordered the galaxie burger with a tiger milkshake and let me tell you, It was amazing. I honestly had to take breather breaks because it was packed with soul! Seeing as I live right nearby I'm going to be back a couple dozen more times.”

When spending so much money on everything to do with a wedding it can add up and you want to make sure the value is there and that you’re not over spending on one thing vs. another. They made sure that as costs added up for us elsewhere we really saw the value while still getting an elite, exceptional, beyond compare venue that just took care of nearly everything. “What a nice surprise this place was. Excellent sushi quality. Better than many in town.Prices here are great for the quality and considering the huge increases in the prices of everything in 2024 in general. For a group of 3 (2 adults and a child), we spent approx $250 for dinner with a sake and a yam panna cotta. Not cheap, but for reference, we've spent double before and left hungry at a restaurant downtown.Here, we were full but not to the point of indigestion. Similar quality blue fin toro elsewhere in the city was $15 per piece. This place gives you 3 pieces for this same price.If all sushi is the same to you or you can't tell what is good or not (i.e. supermarket cooler sushi tastes good to you) then save your money and go to the restaurants closer to Chinook.The menu here is good. Some standard main fare and a good selection of special /unique items. The California roll, dynamite roll and miso soups were the least impressive. Everything else was wonderful. If it was not for my kiddo, I wouldn't have ordered the first 3 items. But, they were not bad at all and my kid loved them.The tempura is exceptional. Crispy, not too mich batter and flavorful.The shrimp and unagi nigiri were delicious and prepared perfectly, not mushy and also not dry nor smothered in sauce. 2 items created well above the average Calgarian Japanese restaurant standard. Oshi was well balanced, creative, and wonderfully smokey.Plating was beautiful with natural items like pretty flower petals for spota of colour. Zero plastic items was also a plus.This small restaurant is in a very basic strip mall with an underwhelming exterior. Inside it is decorated nicely in a lovely classic minimalistic design. I especially liked the very nice selection of pottery pieces used for table settings and decor accents.Good place for a small family dinner, lunch with friends, or a casual date spot. Great food but not at all pretentious. Vibe is mellow and relaxed. Service is attentive and food preparation is perfectly timed.I think if you want a truly romantic date night meal though, another place might be better unless they dim the lights for evening service. I feel it's a bit bright otherwise.For eating out with a large group, I'd recommend calling in advance so they can move some tables and seats together.Hopefully, this restaurant will stay around. It's a very good one. We'll make an effort to be back whenever we visit South Calgary.Parking: You may have to walk a short distance, but it's a big parking lot that always has room. “Get transported to the 1920s where the booze is flowing albeit secretly and the music is the bee's knees. We were there last night holding a murder mystery filled with shady characters with hidden agendas. This place is very Chicago and made the perfect ambiance for our event.The long shelves in the back held some smart-looking antiques that truly belong in the 20s. The lighting is low and dim as if people wanted to keep their indiscretions secret and avoid a police raid at all costs. In the meantime you have comfy couches, candle light, and a fireplace to make things a little romantic. It was absolutely fabulous.The drinks in this establishment were excellent! The house wine was tasty in all the best ways and not too expensive. It had its own unique zip and the taste of velvet that should be in every glass of wine. Speaking of zip, don't be afraid to have a lemon drop shot. A round of these are known to make you brave when you are celebrating some good times.For a real good time, get one of their specialty cocktails like "Sinatra's Black Tuxedo." All that can be said about this drink is WOW!. The server made a whole display of bringing it on an old dresser dressed in a black tuxedo with mirror to get your picture taken. Then there was the drink itself. It was black at the bottom with white foam at the top. You can see the tuxedo for sure. The taste of it was not a sweet as one originally feared. It has a little sweetness but a nice mixture of sour thanks to the passion fruit.The service was pretty good but admitted that it could have been a little better. Upon entering there did not seem to be a server for over half an hour and no menus. Luckily, the QR code is found on the table and the ball got rolling by visiting the bartender himself. It wasn't their fault though, it was quite a night and not a lot of people on staff.As soon as the drinks were ordered everything became much better after that and had faster service. The servers knew their stuff. They knew every ingredient in their beverages, have good food recommendations (even though we didn't feel like eating), and made a wonderful presentation when we had a special cocktail. They were also very friendly and welcoming to us. They knew how to maneuver around us when we were putting on our show and that is no small feat.All and all, this place deserves five stars and beyond because they do go above and beyond for their patrons. To allow us to throw a murder mystery and play along with our characters, these guys deserve a medal. Must try more of their cocktails and some of those nice looking nachos that have been coming out of the kitchen all night long.”

“My Girlfriend and I decided to try out VyThi since I met the owner who was just starting out and came to our shop for marketing materials. Since we love Vietnamese Cuisine, we decided to go for a drive from the SW all the way to the NE to try them out. IT WAS WORTH THE DRIVE. Not only were we welcomed and treated invitingly (she did that to everyone who came in with a huge smile), The Chicken vermicelli was amazing. The seasoned chicken made was made to perfection and the spring rolls where a great favourable experience that topped off the great DISH. I told the owner not to change a thing as it was the Best Chicken Vermicelli we have ever had. We look forward to going back to try the SUBS. This place is a hidden gem. Keep going and keep the great food rolling. We support local and we will support her and her family's restaurant for years to come”

“We were eager to try this new Chinese fare in the NW and it was pretty good. Full disclosure, I'm a white guy and the menu is very Chinese. Sill, there were plenty of gweilo items for us to choose from.We started with the deep fried green beans with pork, which was very good and had good flavours and spiciness. We, of course, had to compare the ginger beef to our current favs and it came in about average. It had good texture and was saucy enough but it did lack sufficient ginger and garlic to give it any zing, so fell a little flat. The Salt & Pepper Basa was our last dish and was disappointingly bland. No salt, and I don't think I saw any pepper flakes anywhere. So overall, everything was pretty good but it lacked zing, with little spice, ginger or garlic.Pricing was typical and fair considering the sizeable portions provided. Service was spot on, except that you have one ipad for everyone to order from. Nice folks, I hope they do well. We will definitely try again and inquire further about making it spicier.”

Along with sweets we tried their chicken and vegetable samosa, probably the most authentic Punjabi style samosa I have ever had. We also tried their ras Malai which was equally delicious. The owner says their food items are better than the sweets so will probably update the review again after trying their food menu.Original: The best place in Calgary to eat authentic Pakistani sweets. That genuine connections, even with food server and total strangers, hold just as much significance as any other bond. Let me tell you, their shawarma and their Service is an absolute winner! I Have been working in the food Industry for many years, I know how it feels to be recognized and to be appreciated. They Deserved the highest rating. This is based from my experience from JERUSALEM SHAWARMA. Every once in a while I have time to swing by, they've nailed it—consistently great taste and always a generous serving. And those fries? Oh boy, always fresh and the perfect sidekick to the main dish with the aroma of the super duper amazing garlic sauce on the side. With a black complimentary. (Im dying) lol. I've been around the block in the food and customer service Industry for about 15 years. My partner, who's a passionate chef, and I are quite picky about where we eat. But let me tell you, Jerusalem Shawarma Shop really impressed us. But what sealed the deal for me was their customer service. Yes! That is the most essential part of the business. There was this awesome guy, I think his name was France or Francis—apologies if I got that wrong—anyway, he was top-notch! Seriously, their service went above and beyond, even the other guy who prepared our Shawarma Wrap. kudos to their team, making our meal on the 12th of December truly memorable.
