Orso is a spacious restaurant with a cozy atmosphere that invites guests to relax. The food features highlights such as the salmon dip, garlic prawn, and Alaska Seafood Spiedini. The calamari appetizer includes large Alaska calamari and is unique, while the crab cake remains a favorite. The fig and date salad offers a standout taste, and the ossobuco has been praised for being fall-off-the-bone tender and flavorful. Guests have enjoyed the Ribeye and the Shank, cooked to perfection, though some reviews mention that the ribeye was not seared well and barely seasoned. The filet mignon, however, has been described as the most tender in Anchorage, and the halibut was praised for being tender and flaky, making it one of the best meals in recent times. The Tuscan chicken fettuccine was found to be extremely rich, with tough noodles, but this may have been an exception. Service is friendly and efficient, with attentive staff who help guests navigate the menu. The manager is helpful and friendly, assisting guests in finding wines they like. Many appreciate the warm and welcoming nature of the team, who sometimes offer thoughtful touches like complimentary desserts for special occasions. Portions are generous, making it easy to share. The selection of good beers, including Pilsner and oatmeal Stout, enhances the experience. Guests enjoy the beautiful scenery and the good drinks. Although the music can feel out of place in the elegant setting and noise levels are high during busy times, especially upstairs with close tables, Orso remains a popular dining spot. Many guests look forward to returning for the excellent local seafood, inviting atmosphere, and memorable desserts, such as the pistachio cake.
