Ray's Place | Vietnamese Cuisine is a popular restaurant in Anchorage with a super extensive menu offering something for every mood. The atmosphere is clean, and even though it is an older building, it is obviously taken well care of, giving a pleasant family owned vibe. The service is friendly, with quick service and staff who greet guests immediately.
The food receives high praise. The egg rolls have a flaky pastry like crisp with a flavorful Asian bouquet of flavors. The fried rice is a standout, described as the best freaking fried rice ever, with generous portions of shrimp, pork, chicken, and Al Dante vegetables. The Combination Fried Rice is flavorful and does not skimp on amount or flavor. The Alaskan halibut (with ginger sauce) has excellent flavors, herbiness, and a perfect mix of sweet and spicy, cooked perfectly. The fresh spring rolls are large, refreshing, and have a tasty dipping sauce. The Banh Xeo is also delicious. The Thai tea and Thai Iced Tea are so good, strong but tasty. The pho is rated 4.2/5, the steak 4.3/5, and the Fried Rice and Lamb Chops are both 5/5.
The price is fair, especially for the portions. However, the restaurant is super popular and can be very busy, especially during late lunch dinner opener, with orders sometimes taking about an hour. It has enough tables and parking.
