I stopped by the food truck while it was parked at UAB Highlands. The service was polite, quick and friendly. The tamale was one of the best I've had in years and had a nice black bean salsa on top for added fun. I Highly recommend you give the Tamale Queen a try!

My mom is a California native and a tamale fanatic. We happened upon this place thanks to Yelp. They are a bit difficult to find if following GPS but they do have signs up with arrows. They are seemingly centralized in a neighborhood. We thought we were lost and then there the building was. The service was prompt and the tamales were incredible. It is hard to find authentic tamales as many places cater to the taste of the locals. I would highly recommend this stop for anyone who like tamales.

This place is a hidden gem! My husband and I went today and got the Birria Tacos. The service was so fast and friendly, and the food was 10/10 amazing. We will be returning for sure!

First time trying Tamale Queen. I tried the Amazing Tamale...and it was! Won't be my last time to visit.
Do not be deterred by the directions to the place. It is very nice and the food is fantastic. You will not be disappointed.

WHAT A FIND! I was driving through Alabama on my way to NOLA from Cincinnati, OH, and needed to stop somewhere for lunch - I couldn't have stumbled upon a better place! Needless to say, the tamales are absolutely delicious, the toppings are fresh and flavorful, and not only that, but everyone who works there is a delight. I felt so taken care of, I didn't want to leave! Next time I'm headed south, I know where I'll be stopping ;) Thanks Tamale Queen!!!

I saw the small sign out by the highway and decided to take a chance. Great service, I needed advice to choose which combination and they were so helpful. I could see back into the food prep area which appeared clean. Extra stars for that! The tamales were excellent, topped with fresh salsa and salad. I took my food to the nearby park and watched people and wildlife. I will be back (I've already sent my parents who also loved the food) and would highly recommend it!

I am on the hunt for the best tamale I can find around here. Came across Tamale Queen food truck in the neighborhood today, so of course I had to try it out. To get an accurate idea of how their tamales are, I ordered two plain tamales. Of course they were pre-made, so I got my food right away. The staff was very friendly and efficient! Took the tamales home and was digging into them within 10 minutes. I would definitely say they are above average. They tasted fresh and not grainy....but a little light on the flavor. The sauce that came with the tamales definitely helps and kicks the flavor up a notch. On that front, I would recommend getting at least a sauce per tamale ordered since the sauce container is so tiny. I ran out of the sauce before I even finished the first one! While my search for the best tamale around is not over, I would definitely order from Tamale Queen again the next time I run into them!
