We ate dinner there. I had the meatloaf sandwich and my wife had a shrimp poboy. Both were good.We bought a whole pound cake to take home. At first it seemed dry and stale. After a couple of days it's much more moist and flavorful. Go figure.

My company used Homewood Gourmet catering for a three day event. The food was delicious and delivered on time. When they delivered they noticed that the dipped strawberries did not have beautiful leaves, so they remade the entire order at no charge. Very impressed. Will use again!

We were invited to enjoy a private dinner that was catered by Chef Chris. Dinner was fabulous and he gave us such good food and presentation. If you are in need of a special evening, have Chef Chris cater your dinner. My only regret is that we didn't take pictures.

I can’t quite explain it, but I didn’t feel very welcome here and I rarely get that feeling. Found it just looking for somewhere nearby with chicken salad. The chix salad sandwich was good & bow tie pasta salad fresh, if not exactly seasoned. But back to feeling welcome - the guys at the register did not crack A SMILE at any point. Like not even a partial smile. Let alone a “welcome to Homewood Gourmet”. And it wasn’t super crowded, so I don’t think it was because they were just Uber busy. Again, I can’t explain it & fortunately there’s plenty other options.

The shrimp po boy and gumbo are to die for. Shrimp had a crunch (aka fresh and cooked perfectly) and gumbo had a nice lil kick!

This is a great lunch spot with the freshest ingredients, some unique items and some oldies but goodies. Today, I went for the "oldie but goodie" - grilled cheese (I ask for mozzarella instead of cheddar) with fresh sliced tomato in the sandwich on house-made white bread with a side of the best cole slaw in the Birmingham area! The sandwich comes out hot, with the cheese melting out of the sides. You can taste the tomato and the whole sandwich tastes like something from my childhood. For roughly $10.50, it's worth it! And then there's the tea. I don't know why, but his sweet and unsweet are just plain excellent. The deep tea flavor comes through. Although the sweet is not particularly sweet, I still go half-and-half to hold down those calories. I can tell you that his fish sandwiches and po-boys top of the line. My friends RAVE about his gumbo, and I was tempted by the speckled trout po-boy option. Given my diet (ha ha), I skipped dessert, but those cookies, cakes and bread pudding are very difficult to ignore! I give it the highest possible rating.

Little Restaurant with BIG flavor: I can't say enough good things about this Homewood gem. The food is fresh and so flavorful. I'm vegan/vegetarian and can always find something delicious to eat. The cherry on top is the owner and the team he's assembled. Top notch staff.
