I’ve been eating here since 2004. I need the place back in my life. Why is it closed?

The food is very overpriced and the mom that works there or grandma is rude and easily gets offended when you ask about her

J*** Chicken and Curried Goat was delicious and the owner and staff were very friendly and accommodating.

I ordered the oxtails and chicken curry.. both of which were fantastic! The food was steaming hot and fresh right after they opened. The meat was so tender and the portions are heaping. The cornbread was soooo good, I'll definitely be coming back!

The food I received today was horrible. The cabbage had no flavor. The oxtails had no flavor and to top it off the food was not fresh.

Mrs. Vivia is a very kind, warm person and her food is amazing. It's been a hot minute since I last had a bite to eat here (and I'm kicking myself for that) but they always remembered me when I came in years ago and I really appreciated that. I always remember my first time there and she was walking me through the menu and I was like "I just don't really like goat." "Well, you haven't had my goat!" She was right. Her goat curry is delicious. As is everything else on the menu (I also highly recommend the oxtails). Even the sides are great. I could seriously subsist off of the cornbread pudding for the rest of my life and I would be perfectly happy. Try her homemade fruit juice!

I had the oxtails which comes with rice, cabbage, and cornbread. Everything was amazing and I also ordered a side of candied yams which were also extremely good. One of my favorite local places here in Mobile!

This was soo delicious! I ordered the lunch portion of the brown stew chicken and it was so tender and flavorful! The ladies at the counter took my order quickly and the food was out within minutes! It was hot and you can tell it was cooked that day! I tried to opt out of getting the cornbread but I’m so happy I did! It was legit the best cornbread I’ve ever had in my life! And there was actual corn in it?! I’ve never seen that before. The plate was only about 8 dollars but the portion was big enough to eat from twice! I will definitely be back to try more of their dishes!

I've been going to this place since around 2001. I've never had bad food there. I've tried everything on the menu but keep going back to the curried goat. The place a bit small, but the good prices, huge portions, awesome cornbread, and miss Vivia's infectious smile keep me coming back, even after having moved away.

Really wish ALL Jamaican Restaurants took pride to ensure they are able to offer what's on their menus daily! There's always an excuse! Honor your menu. No oxtails...no plantains.

We stopped here on a road-trip and were treated to delicious j*** chicken and goat curry!! Exactly what we needed to power through another 6 hours of driving. The lady who runs the restaurant was sooo sweet and kind too! And the cornbread--best I've ever had !

We had been meaning to try this place for a long time and I’m so glad we finally did. As soon as you walk in the restaurant, you can smell all the yummy aromas of curry and other spices teasing your appetite. The store is painted yellow with picture frames displaying all the newspaper and magazine features the store has. There were only two people working, so it took a little while to get our order in and take a seat. They had a very consistent stream of people coming in for take out orders. We were so excited when we got our food. I don’t think we waited more than five to ten minutes. The J*** Chicken is absolutely delicious with tender falling off the bone meat, subtle and rich spices, served with rice, cornbread pudding, and side of cabbage and veggies. The oxtail was also very good. I would love to come back soon to try the curry chicken or brown stew chicken! And of course for the cornbread pudding. Lovely little place. Jamaican Cafe has left an excellent impression on me!

It was ok. I had the curried goat. I've been to Jamaica many times and the food at Jamaican Cafe did not compare. I was a little disappointed.
