Members no longer get a discount at the cafe. A burger with fries (no drink) starts at $14 and goes up to almost $20!! They were out of French fries so they gave me a bag of chips. Kids meals are $10 which I think is crazy! Kids meal option is either an pb & j uncrustable or hot dog, animal crackers, fresh fruit (but again, they were out), and a drink. For two kids meals, my burger, and a pretzel it was $47.. yikes. We will definitely eat before we come or go somewhere else after. An absolute downgrade on what they used to offer. So sad because we enjoyed stopping by for a decent priced delicious lunch.

I'm surprised our zoo can afford to have such a nice place to eat at. I was impressed by how good my hamburger/fries and sweet tea was. And how good they keep it clean looking. I think ill start coming here to eat 2-3x a month.

Professional chef or cook, the food was BETTER than most parks (theme parks, zoos, etc...) and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful EVENTHOUGH the place was crawling with kids.

Just visit Café Africa to ruin a good zoo visit. Prices are off the hook for the poor quality food and drinks and for the lack of service. Cashiers are merely wall flowers.

Typical gray lunch food. Tastes good, but, you know, not really good for you.

I'll do the middle on stars. They were busy with a kid group and they all got burgers and chips which was pretty neat. But I ordered a basket of fries and it was a very small portion of fries. It was about as much as a kids meal with fries and they were under cooked. As a professional cook myself I understand being busy and trying to get food out but quality over quantity. I would not have sent that out with as little amount it was for the price the guests are paying. I'm always up for giving places another chance but I probably won't get the basket of fries again.

The zoo itself was very nice and the majority of the zoo workers were friendly. However the restaurant SUCKED. As soon as we walked in the guy at the front would not stop rudely staring at me while I was trying to look at the menu. Almost as if he was trying to intimidate me. I felt very uncomfortable looking at the menu and trying to order because he just looked like he DID NOT wanna be there, and HATED that he was there. The tables were dirty, not even wiped off. The man in the restaurant who took our order walked around “cleaning” however, he wasn’t cleaning just making it look like he was. At least be nice. It’s not our fault you’re working at a zoo restaurant. Go get a new job if you hate it so much you have to be rude to customers.

Food was really good, kids loved everything and the prices. If I complain do I get a free meal ??? Lol!!Kid-friendliness: Everyone was so patient while taking the kiddo’s orders, they changed their minds a few times, prob why service can be a lil slow. Thank you for your kindness and making a great day even better!! Nobody left without a huge smile and a full tummy!!

Some people are over reacting, it's not world class food and it's not over priced. You are at a zoo so things have a little charge to them but it isn't horrible. The line being long is the only thing that's wrong but I have waited longer at fast food places for the food we got. They get through customers fast and efficiently.
It's a Cafe inside the Zoo so, yea. The prices were a bit ridiculous, something like 11 or 12 bucks for a hot dog, bag of chips, and fountain drink with no free refill. But it's more than serviceable if you're with kids and need air conditioning and bathrooms.

The burgers were dry and over priced, the tables were sticky, the person ringing us up couldn't keep attention long enough to understand our order. . . BUT the Zoo itself was amazing and the atmosphere was great. I would have thought for the low cost that admission was the eateries would follow suite ?♂️Kid-friendliness: Great place for the kids to be kids
