Restaurantji's Flagstaff guide: Where to find the best Mexican flavors. Experience the city's best with Shrimp Tacos, Carne Asada, Tacos, and more.
“Wow. Wow. WOW! Tres wows for the Tres Amigos! This food... I can't describe it! Full of flavor and dedication. We ordered Carne Asada Burrito, Carne Asada Quesadilla, and Bean tostada. We couldn't finish half of it. The Burrito was stuffed with Asada, rice, guacamole, etc and it was massive! Everything was fresh and wonderful. We stopped in on the way through and it didn't disappoint. Flagstaff is lucky to have this place!“
“Super underrated, you get the most for a very cheap cost. I love it the most because of the quality of the food and how much you get for a really good price. I go here all the time super nice people. Definitely should have more locations throughout flagstaff. Definitely local, best food in the world, especially if you love Mexican food. One of the best locations in flagstaff.“
“Some of the best food in Flagstaff. Truly talented. And they are opening a brick and mortar in the Americana near 4th and E Rte 66. Tip-call to make sure of hours and location before you go.Seriously, food so good it makes you happy all day.“
“My family and I had dinner here while staying in Flagstaff. The food was excellent. The portion sizes are large enough to share and still have leftovers! The atmosphere is great. The painted booths are absolutely gorgeous! I save the best part for last…Manny was our waiter and he was absolutely amazing! He made our dinner eventful with his exceptional humor! He went over and beyond just serving us. He had great suggestions for food. Was very attentive and informative. You have to ask for him if you eat here. You won’t regret it! He turns a simple mean into a fun evening!“
“I was here in April 2024 and had the Huevos Benedictos. Very good—nice hollandaise and just enough green chiles to make it interesting. I ate every bite. Knocking off one star for the coffee (a latte), which was undrinkable due to its charred flavor—and I’m no coffee snob. The decor and atmosphere are great!“
“My family and I visited Las Gorditas Mexican Food during our stay in Flagstaff. Authentic Mexican family style food. I love Mexican food and it was delicious. The service was fast and the staff was friendly. The food was reasonably priced and we enjoyed it.Kid-friendliness: Kid Friendly menu options.“
“Great little taqueria. We walked down for a late breakfast and were greeted by a very friendly gentleman who accommodated a couple of no meat breakfast burritos; eggs, potatoes, onions, peppers. These were really good and the accompanying red and green salsa made for a nice breakfast. Had a couple of sparkling waters and the bill was $30 before tip. So maybe a bit rich, but overall this was a winner with good food, friendly service.“
“Small restaurant where the owner Alejandro takes care of you. My husband enjoyed his margarita and his barria taco but said the meat wasn't cooked in the sauce which he likes best. If you like a slightly sweet sauce, I recommend either of the seafood taco plates which feature their fish sauce and a perfect pile of ingredients. Num!“
“If you want some of the best Mexican food in Flagstaff I would highly recommend stopping in and grabbing some lunch. This was some of the best food and service we have had in the last few years. I can say this has replaced one of my go to restaurants in town every time we visit. Thank you and keep up the hard work.“
“I have nothing to complain about. The service was good, the server was very kind and got everything we needed, he was all alone at lunch rush hour though so it might be even better if they add one more server during lunch. To me the food was very comparable to Tacos los Altos east, the food was good but wasn't very original. The chips and salsa were very good though! The food came out super fast and they have good drink choices, lots of bottled sodas. I hope one day they grow and can serve margaritas and other drinks! For the price I wish the portions were just a tad bit bigger! Seems to average around $14 for the combo plates.“
“Very friendly service from Matt and Drew. Delicious carne asada fries and nopal tacos. Appreciated the variety in the menu. Wonderful drinks and reasonably priced. Loved the "dive" vibe with the super sweet bar dog (Take down that one sign, tho...)“
“Polibertos is my go-to spot for delicious and authentic Mexican food in Flagstaff. I've been visiting this little hole-in-the-wall restaurant for years and have never been disappointed. The tacos, burritos, and tortas are always freshly made with high quality ingredients. My personal favorite is the carne asada burrito - the meat is perfectly seasoned and melts in your mouth.During my last visit, I was craving their famous cheese crisps. As soon as I put in my order, the owner recognized me and threw in a few extra crisps free of charge. This friendly and generous gesture is so typical of the outstanding customer service at Polibertos. Whether you're a loyal regular or first-time visitor, you'll feel like part of the family here. With its homemade salsas, affordable prices, and top-notch service, Polibertos deserves every one of its five stars. I enthusiastically recommend this gem to anyone looking for an authentic Mexican dining experience in Flagstaff. You won't find better south-of-the-border cuisine in all of northern Arizona!“
“We started off with a trio of salsas. We really enjoyed the pico and red salsa. I also really liked their chips. I had the triple enchiladas and I really enjoyed the chicken and carnitas enchiladas. The carne asada one I could take it or leave it. The smoked chicken was very Smokey and a unique flavor to the enchiladas. My husband got the stuffed sopapilla. That was his first time having that dish and he really enjoyed it. The bread was flavorful and the smoked chicken was tender.“
“Please don’t close!!!! Their sign disappeared about a week ago and I haven’t seen them open since. I am obsessed with your breakfast burritos ? best in town by far. I hope you’ll be open again soon, either here or somewhere else in town.“
“Me and my co workers found this restaurant just by driving around town looking for some good food… well we went in with low expectations but as soon as we saw the food coming in we were surprised by the size of the meals, then the flavors!!! *chef’s kiss!*. Our meal was from the lunch menu which included soft drink and sopapillas.. I was expecting to see small sopapillas as usual… naaaah!! I was wrong! There were the size of my palm of my hand! (I got big hands) and the honey… oh honey!!! It was the real deal honey! No the fake honey you buy at the stores!I 100% will go back to this restaurant!!!“
“I thought this was a place to go eat. Come to find out, it's a take out place. I'm not mad about it....I am so glad I stumbled upon this little gem!! I decided to try their salsa, tortillas and tamales. The salsa was so incredibly fresh with a hint of garlic. The tortilla chips were super delicious as well! I made a chimi burrito when I got home with the tortilla. OH EM GEE!!!!!! I never want to buy store bought tortillas ever again! Can't wait until I try the tamales and have a chance to go back!!“
“Tacos Los Altos is probably one of the better if not the best Mexican food restaurants in Flagstaff but all the other restaurants that serve fast Mexican food in a 2 mi radius keep the competition at an insanely high level I personally believe that you have to sample all other options in the immediate area to gain an accurate review of the breakfast burritos and taco situation in the Flagstaff community Yes Tacos Los Altos hasn't beautiful salsa bar but right next door they have probably a better breakfast burrito Viva Flagstaff and keep your curiosity open Cheers“
“Had to stop in at our absolute favorite Mexican food place on our way through Flagstaff after moving away a year and a half ago. My daughters, having been gone much longer, couldn’t wait to get their “fix”! Still one of the best!Parking: In a large strip mall. Plenty of parking available.“
“We stopped in for some takeout after a day of hiking in Sedona and we are SO glad we did! My friend ordered a burrito and I ordered 3 tacos and everything was delicious. Get the birria taco, soooo good. The service was very friendly, they were so willing to give recommendations and help us with the menu. The food came out hot and was still hot when we got back to our Airbnb ~15 minutes away. Highly recommend coming here!Vegetarian options: Veggie burrito“
“We ordered this to be delivered to the hotel we are staying at nearby and I do need to say the driver was amazing, the food was all packaged well and it arrived on time. Overall the food was good- not the best, but we were happy to have tried it (when we travel our goal is always to try things that aren't local where we live). We ordered the beef tacos (some of the meat was pretty charred), a chicken burrito, the mini chimi plate, a carne asada quesadilla, a Mexican pizza and chips/guacamole. Overall it lacked flavor, and definitely needed the salsa/hot sauce. Everything was prepared well and the portions were good size. We can't say anything about the restaurant itself, as we didn't go in. They did not include utensils, which was a bummer, but other than that, no real issues.“
“As we were driving down Route 66, what do I see parked in front of Jiffy Lube? Tamales USA!!! Our first encounter of this yummy goodness was at an event at the Museum of Northern Arizona. The tamales and Salsa Fresca with avocado were excellent! I was wondering when we would stumble upon them again! We'll, in addition to various events, you can find them in the Jiffy Lube parking lot on the corner of Route 66 and Ponderosa Pkwy. every Sunday from 8 AM to 1 PM, weather permitting. Make sure you get there sooner than later though as I can tell you they will sell out as this cat is now out of the bag!The Salsa Fresca with avocado is one of the best salsas I've ever had! Fantastic tamales! Took home green chile pork, green chile chicken, pork red chile and beef red chile! They do not skimp on the ingredients! The pozole was one of the best we've ever had! Many pozoles have tons of hominy with very little meat, but this pozole is the opposite! Tasty, meaty goodness with a generous side of cabbage, chilies, radishes, lime and tostadas caseras! You definitely want to add the chilies as they give it a nice kick! Now that we know where to find them on a regular basis, we'll be back on a regular basis!Slow down and stop in! You will love Tamales USA!“
“Love this place!!! Literally the only place in Flag that knows how to make carne asada fries the right way! The young man that takes orders is always really nice and friendly. The horchata is always good too!!! Playlist good too ??If they cooked their corn tortillas in oil a little bit for their tacos it would be even better than it already is!“
“It's in the back of a gas station so only 4 stars for to atmosphere. Separate dining areas though. Inside and on the covered patio. I had the Fried Chicken. Great stuff with mashed potatoes and gravy. The tacos are very good too. Check it out.“
“This place is a "hidden" gem in flagstaff. I say hidden because it's inside the mall but they hands down have the best tacos in the city. Honestly, best tacos I've ever had and i've lived a lot of different places and had a lot of tacos. Salsas are so yummy as are the chips and guac. The owner is so friendly and the service is fast. I have never been disappointed in the food I get there. Run, don't walk, to try the tacos at La Placita!“
“Whoever’s rating this place 1 star need to pipe down. Qdoba is straight gas. After a long day of classes and coming back to the desert that’s south campus, Qdoba serves as an oasis where I can quench my hunger with some of the best food in Flagstaff.I ❤️ Qdoba“
“Gloria's Bakery is a must try. The service is phenomenal, and the food is great. The restaurant is small and quaint. Very well kept. The pan dulce is delicious. They have conchas, rebanadas, cerditos, empanadas, tres leches, and flan. You will not be disappointed.“
