Came in on a Saturday morning around 11:00. It was not busy at all and there was a lot of staff working. They had balloons up with a "3" balloon and staff were wearing 3rd anniversary shirts. I was told to sit wherever I wanted to.I was promptly brought a menu and offered a beverage. I ordered the Top of the Morning omelet with hashbrowns and a biscuit. Before ordering the biscuit, I asked whether they were good/ recommended and the waitress told me they were good. The food was prepared quickly but nothing was hot - just warm. Ceiling fans were set to high which made my lukewarm food cold faster. The cheese in the omelet was unmelted (which you can see in the picture) so the eggs were never hot enough to melt the cheese once added. Generous with the turkey sausage in omelet, generous with avocado on top. It was okay - I added Tabasco. The hashbrowns were greasy but okay. The biscuit was awful/inedible. It was obviously microwaved to warm and hard on the bottom, spongy on the top.  No coffee refills were offered and I had to ask for a refill twice in the hour I was there. When I was done, I sat with everything packed up and ready to go for at least 15 minutes while I was ignored by my waitress while she wrapped silverware. They had live music which was an unexpected treat. The Christmas tree is still up in the corner. All patrons (except me apparently) were asked to spin a prize wheel at checkout. My waitress made me stand there for at least 5 minutes while she looked around, did something on the computer while I stood there waiting to pay and escape. She finally turned around to ask whether I was "ready" even though I was standing there with my bill and credit card on the counter the entire time. FYI - They charge a 3.5% fee for using a credit card.I've been here twice in the 14 years I've worked at the hospital. Meh. I should have gone to First Watch.Parking: Limited parking in front off of Thomas Road but there is a large lot behind the building.

A good, friendly, classic diner. You know what to expect and they're consistent every time. The family that owns it adds their own Mexican flair, and I noticed that the dishes with that influence stands above the classic American dishes.Parking: Parking up front is limited. Large parking lot behind the building, and the back door is open (not wheel-chair accessible)

While I was working, I went here about once a month, or more, because they had the best Chicken Fried steak & eggs, for 15 years. I haven't been here since I retired, 2021. Well I'm sorry to say, they're Chicken Fried steak and eggs, was not as good as I remembered. The gravey was so thin you could almost see through it. Well, I know now that I don't have to go out of my way to come here. Our server was great, and I like the Easter Christmas tree.

Food was terrible. I mean like seriously, how do you possibly ruin a breakfast dish?! The potatoes were not fresh. I think they’re from the previous day, at least.Look at the bacon!! What is that? It was cooked from last week?I kid you not, I took maybe 4 bites and I was ready for the check. Now, I did like the location. The server was kind. And she didn’t press me at all. I even told her about how the food was disgusting, in a constructive manner.I hope to see this place get it together. They have a great location! Maybe the manager is being cheap…idk. But it’s hurting his business in the long run.

Great experiences at 5th Ave Cafe every time! Wonderful classic cafe vibe with super friendly and attentive service. They have an extensive American and Mexican menu with their own special twists to the menu choices. Open for breakfast and lunch, on Saturday mornings they have a great acoustic guitarist adding just the right musical background to appeal to almost anyone. Today I had Incredible lightly battered French fries, eggs, and their delicious avocado toast on sourdough bread with a creamy cappuccino. Last time I had a well made Belgian waffle. This family owned, family friendly, one of a kind cafe should be a frequent stop for you, across the street from St Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix.Kid-friendliness: High chairs and booster seats.

Cute atmosphere, live music ,fast service but the food was COLD and tasted like low quality. Told my waitress and her response “Yeah” and walked away. I won’t be returning.

We came here based on the 4.5 stars of hundreds of diners & this will be our 1st and last time here. We should have believed the most recent 1 star reviewer but sadly didn't read it until after the meal was served. Perhaps they're under new owners or cooks? Chiliquiles not prepared properly, day old hashbrowns that "couldn't be browned", fried hard "scrambled" eggs, a biscuit like a hockey puck ( I literally couldn't cut it) replaced by 1 burned piece of toast when sent back. The positives were a kind server, calming music in a decent location. Sadly we won't be back & really don't like posting negative reviews but for over $25 for two breakfasts that one was barely eaten, save your $ & find another place that cares about its food prep.

Juan was an excellent server! He recommended the Chilaquiles Verde. GREAT CALL. The salsa was spicy, a good flavor burn. The chips are house made, thick, yet not greasy. This dish is a must try!My friend had the pancakes with sausage links and red potatoes. The atmosphere is great. An acoustic guitarist, Jean Ladensack, was playing some great background music. This is one of those places to bring a friend for breakfast.

Had breakfast-food cold, service slow, waitress would not talk. Toast never placed in a toaster and no butter. No recommendation from me.

OK, so the music is quite loud in there even though it wasn't anything crazy the problem service was slow which I was willing to deal with. The main issue is when the food came. It was cold biscuits and gravy were subpar The biscuits were a rectangular pattern had just been pulled from a package of bridge pre-cooked biscuits. They were not even warmed up, and Luke warm gravy poured over them not very good at all. Hashbrowns were room temperature. The only thing hot was the egg which was over easy when I ordered over medium I won't be picky about that, but it was covered in Greece. That was the most enjoyable part, bacon was good but once again, it was cold. My wife had a cowboy scramble. It was the worst of the worst she got an English muffin with no butter on it which we are OK with, but they didn't even bother to toast the English muffin and the scramble with scrambled eggs with hashbrowns and once again room temperature. Will not be coming back here again I'm surprised at the number of stars this place has received. I said something to the waitress about the temperature of the food because she could see that I did not eat more than three bites. It went in one ear and out the other didn't seem to care.

I am giving this restaurant 5 stars based on the unique ambiance. It is the most relaxing breakfast place in town! Soothing soft jazz and the muted blue colors are a welcome break from the farm kitchen motif found in most breakfast joints.
