Small restaurant where waiter aims to please you. Special items on menu. Less expey than driving to Sante Fe.

Excellent food - please consider trying this hidden gem as the place as they can definitely use more business. I used to travel to New Mexico frequently for business and miss the unique cuisine of red and green chile's and dessert sopapillas. I saw a few reviews on Gil's and checked out their menu online and it look great, so my wife and I decided to stop by on a Friday for lunch. Our only concern on stopping by was there was not a wine, mixed drink or beer menu. The good news is that the food and service was outstanding, but we were the only ones there for our entire meal and didn't hear the phone ringing with orders either. Kelly, a very engaging and excellent server, promptly helped us choose between inside seating and outside gazebo seating. It was very windy, so we decided to to stay inside but will try the gazebo seating in the future. The inside seating while somewhat limited, was very clean with great New Mexico flair. We were served complimentary freshly fried hot tortilla chips with red chile and hatch chile salsas that were perfect. My wife, who hates cilantro (one of those that thinks it tastes like soap), appreciated that it is not used in the New Mexican cooking and loved her chicken chimichanga with red sauce while I enjoyed a carne asada stuffed sopapilla with green chili sauce. Both were outstanding and everything was made from scratch. We couldn't leave without trying a dessert sopapilla served piping hot with powdered sugar and honey. Excellent! We learned that there is a BYOB policy without a corkage fee, so look forward to bringing a bottle of wine and sitting in the patio gazebo for a future dinner. Give this place a try and you will love it!

I only recommend because of the lack of other option. My wife was ok with her Relleno plate except the portion of beans was very small especially since they were out of rice. I my self did not enjoy any of my food I had ordered the carne adovada tacos which looked great but lacked in flavor and were to soggy. Again the portion of beans wasn’t enough for even a child’s plate. They substituted me for a ralleno which I got but it was soggy and did not seem to be fried or at least it wasn’t fried to order. We are both born and raised New Mexicans and NMC critic. The server was nice and the owner (chef)seemed in hurry even though we were the only people there. I will go again and try something else. I so bad wanted them to be good.

Very delicious food made at a family restaurant. We sat outside on a cool day and enjoyed the cool breezes and a little sun under the gazebo out front. While we waited for our food the waitress, Kelly, brought out homemade chips and salsa which was really delicious. My husband ordered the beef burrito and I ordered a taco salad. My only Issue was how long it took but frankly worth the fact that it was obviously freshly made. The food was delicious. It is a quaint little location that was perfect for a casual lunch. There is seating inside and out with a sweet indoor bar seating. A very very quiet location so lots of privacy and low foot traffic.

I have not been at the restaurant but I tried a breakfast burrito at the Farmers Market. It was delicious, it was fresh and tasted home made. I’m definitely gonna try the restaurant.

Great little restaurant with a cozy indoor and outdoor seating area. Owner was the only one working and his service was excellent and food came out fast. I'm from New Mexico and the chili was on point. The green was great and made me feel like I was in NM. Had the chicken burrito and it was delicious. Definitely a great place for a traditional NM meal.

Food was great portions very generous! Would give it 5 stars except I ordered take out and got home and dove in and realized they didn't give us any salsa in the take out bag. I blame myself I should have asked if there was any salsa that I can take home with me. If you order take out ask for salsa.
