For the price the food is okay. Nothing great. It’s not bad but the portions are extremely small. The place doesn’t wow you. Definitely overpriced, but not a bad experience just would rather spend money

I find it interesting when the waiter knows we didn't have a great end to our experience they must have the ability to do something as a relates to requesting a review. I book on OpenTable all the time and immediately get an email asking to do a review. I did not this time. Our overall experience was good until the end. First we received the wrong check. Then he comes back with a different check that has an additional cheesecake on it and a church music beer that we never had. The waiter or anyone else was nowhere to be found and we finally left after 15 minutes of waiting. That is unacceptable. It will be a long time if we come back. Unfortunately we've enjoyed the vabene but not this time. We shared one dessert at our table and bought these two young kids next to us a dessert. We were charged a fourth dessert, which is an extra cheesecake. So much for being kind and doing a good deed.

Italian is our favorite. But this is beyond our expectations. You can tell they have quality meat. Warm ambiance with friendly service by Daniel.We started with Bruschetta. 5 pieces generously loaded. Best I have had in a while.Then we ordered the Lamb Shank. Truly fork tender sitting on a bed of risotto.This is authentic Italian cuisine!

The atmosphere is welcoming and has a unique charm. The staff is charismatic and very attentive . I come for the live music venues, but stay for the excellent vibe and service!

Been coming to va bene for years. It's pretty consistently good. Easy parking, easy to make a reservation, and great staff always. One thing to love about this place is it doesn't have the AZ strip mall restaurant feel inside. You feel like you're in a nicer restaurant. The food is always perfection. I nearly always get the rigatoni bolognese which I know seems basic, but they do such a great job. After going here for like 12 years I finally came on a night they had the lasagna. That's right, 12 years coming and first time I have finally gotten my hands on this dish. This is THE BEST lasagna I've had at a restaurant. It isn't pumped with a ton of bechamel, the bolognese inside is the perfect amount, the piece isn't too small nor too large, the outside is ladled with meat sauce and red sauce to run your fork full of lasagna in it cresting the perfect flavor.

The food was outstanding. And the service was really good too. Very nice ambience and very reasonably priced. We will definitely go back food with hot and arrived fast.

My husband was wanted escargot. He ordered it and it tasted good but he really wanted it in the conventional way. He also ordered an Italian margarita and veal parm (even though it's not on the menu. He asked for penne on the side. All he received was good but he didn't like being charged extra for the penne considering the price of the veal entre'. I ordered the penne sis Illini which was tasty and the penne, eggplant, tomatoes and basil were cooked just al dente as I like them. I was also served a generous portion of the Coppola diamond Merlot which I chose over my normal Cabernet choice because the menu said the entre had a light tomato sauce. My husband thought it was dark inside. I liked the decor even though I'm not a fan of the art in the walls. (That's just a matter of taste preference though.) If you decide to try this restaurant, I think you'll like the food but you also have to love to listen to Frank Sinatra sing. The area we ate in was empty except for us. I like that, but my husband thought it was weird. After we paid the check we visited the martini wine bar which was pretty busy and seemed like everyone was enjoying themselves. I didn't check out the restrooms or order a cup of coffee as I was full and tired of Frank Sinatra. I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon cause even though I liked my meal, I can get the same product closer to home. But, I would recommend you try this restaurant, it's one of the better Italian food offerings in the valley.

Me and my friend showed up at around 3:30 not knowing they only served drinks till 4 pm. The service was lovely and let made us Shirley temples while we waited for the kitchen to open. The bread and butter is amazing. We both ordered the gnocchi allá vodka. It was well cooked, but could use a touch more seasoning. One of the dishes also had way more sauce. The decoration is nice and it's dimly lit.

Have been going here for years. We sit in the bar cause we like the appetizers! Never disappointed in the food. The manager is very kind and gracious. He know what we like to drink when we come in! One of my favorite restaurants!
