Valentine has been on my list for a long time so when we finally made it to Melrose for dinner we pulled no punches on our ordering. If we didn't get everything on the menu we were close. The restaurant itself is cute and delightfully photogenic which helps set the tone for a great meal. On the cocktail front, most were good. The only standout to me was the hatch chili margarita served in a glass boot which was as tasty as it was eye catching. Similarly, most of the food was above average with nothing being bad. The Elote pasta is the standout - it was outstanding. Basically this is a carbonara style pasta with Elote flavors instead of the traditional bacon. The execution on this dish is perfect. Prices are quite high for what you get on most dishes and cocktails and if there was more value, I'd likely have a better rating. That said, I'd return and I definitely would like to come back for pastries from the coffee bar if driving by in the AM.

Truly incredible. Creative flavor combinations and preparations featuring local and heirloom ingredients. Out of so many delicious sounding dishes, I decided on the avocado toast. Their rendition includes homemade squash bread, avocado, smoked trout, corn nuts, and optional egg (get the egg!). Perhaps the best avocado toast ever. I also tried the hatch chili lemonade (smokey and refreshing) and matcha tonic with prickly pear cactus syrup and elderflower tonic. Great atmosphere. Bonus: there's a mid-century modern shop in the back!

Our visit here was amazing. From the moment you walked into the restaurant you'll be greeted by your barista with the a beautiful smile. We ordered the Burger, Valentine Dog and Tater Tots With Chili-Aioli & Native Seed Salsa Secca. Absolutely yummy! I also tried the Cajeta Latte espresso with cajeta very sweet and tasty coffee. The food was amazing, service was great and the decor inside and outside the place brings the whole experience together. We will definitely visit again!

Enjoyable dinner. The menu is a little difficult to understand but our waiter was very helpful and walked us thru our options. We shared several plates including the pretzel, radicchio salad, pork ribs and elote pasta. All of it was enjoyably tasty.

Awesome atmosphere. The service is impeccable and the food is great but the drinks we ordered were not very good. But they also did the right thing and comped them upon letting them know as we pivoted to the wine options. I would definitely go back again and recommend.

If I could leave a 0 star review, I probably would. We showed up a few minutes early for our 2-person dinner reservation on a Saturday night and were told by the hostess that our table was still eating dinner, but we could wait in the 1912 lounge and get a drink while we wait. We happily agreed and sat at a table there and ordered the pretzel and a drink each. The pretzel came out in about 5 min and was amazing, but after 30 more minutes of waiting, our drinks never arrived and no one had updated us on our table. We saw several other groups that were in the same situation as us get seated in the restaurant so we decided to leave and head to another restaurant. The waitress in the lounge apologized for our wait and comped the pretzel which was kind, but the hostesses at the front of the restaurant couldn’t even find us on the reservation list and then offered to seat us at one of the 10 open tables they had (why didn’t they ever come to grab us and seat us at one of those??). We left without food or a drink in a 45 minute period and will never be back. Acceptable for a restaurant that’s been open for a month still trying to figure out the reservation system, but not for this place. Horrible experience and I bet quite a few people in the lounge/restaurant that night would agree.
A very cool place. Very unique dishes with Mexican flair for breakfast . My kids didn't love it, but I'm a foodie and would go back in a heartbeat. The vibe there is chill too and decor mix of modern and antique/classic.Kid-friendliness: Lots of families, easy seating.

You will need a reservation, however, they are willing to work with you if they have time/room. All of the staff was very friendly. Each, when asked, offered their or popular favorites. A friend and I went here for dinner this past Saturday. We only had two dishes, both recommendations, that were to die for - elote pasta, and cabbage. OMG! So fricken good!

I got the avocado toast which is so basic it’s hard to mess up BUT THE COFFEE ??? I’ve been thinking about the Squash Latte and the Vanilla Corn Cappuccino for a month now just dreaming of when I can make the 35 minute drive for COFFEE ? it’s a must. I will say seating inside is a bit rough with all the students camped out with their laptops. I felt like I was defending my table and chairs while I waited for my other two friends to arrive which makes ordering a little stressful since you have to get in line to order the waitresses doesn’t come to your table. They place is clean though as they do clear your table and are very attentive to that. Great chill atmosphere, like I said lots of students. Can’t wait to go back!
