Everyone here treated us like royalty. I hardly go to restaurants because of a couple big (strange) food allergies I have but I have to say, with the care and attention the staff went through for my birthday lunch , I will definitely be back. The staff went above and beyond to make sure nothing, and I mean nothing, was on my plate that I couldn't eat and I know for sure that there was no cross contamination. This was all done with respect and understanding ( no heavy sighs, no bothered attitude, no eye rolling). This respect was also presented when I just ordered sparkling water with my meal instead of a wine or other beverage. The meal was fabulous and we all left full and satisfied ( even though the plate was not stuffed with cheap filler foods that no one eats anyways) and the flavors were perfectly melded with nothing over powering (like when the whole meal tastes like garlic or season salt). Kudos to the chef for art on a plate and kudos to the lovely staff at this beautiful, tucked away restaurant with a stunning view.

I love this special restaurant elevated on piles over Okanagan Lake waves - truly unique! We shared the tuna poke and green curry bowls, paired with a Grey Monk Pinot Gris. Service was attentive but not overly. An experience to fondly remember!

This was my wife's birthday lunch out. We chose the Hooded Merganser because of our previous very positive experiences. My wife was looking forward to the chicken parmigiana but it has been removed as a menu option. Her second choice cheeseburger and fries was only OK. The meat patty had a very dry texture and there was overall too much salt in the meat and on the meal. She managed half the burger and a few salty fries and left the rest. I had the green Thai curry. I found the chicken to be over cooked and the prawns undercooked. Plus I have never had rice noodles that were fully Al dente. In retrospect I regret not sending my lunch back to the kitchen to be cooked properly. We will look at alternatives next time we want a meal in Penticton.

We all got the special menu for Dine Around Penticton, and it was fantastic and an incredible value. The pistachio crusted salmon was a wonderful combination of flavour and textures. So was the winter salad - sweet (apples, roasted squash) with a pleasant amount of crunch (apples again and pumpkin seeds). And the blackberry porter chocolate cake was delicious. The cake with the mousse inside would be pretty outstanding on its own but the addition of the rum berry compote alongside it was perfect. Just the right amount of sweetness. I will definitely be watching out for this event each year now.

Server did a pretty good job of filling the gap waiting an hour+ for food to arrive. Brutally overcooked and very substandard. I've eaten here dozens of times. Unlikely to come back. Noise made it very difficult to have a conversation. Penticton has lots of new choices. Merganser needs to step up not down

Apple squash salad was bland. Calamari was excellent. Shrimp cocktail was horrible. Halibut we sent back. It smelled and tasted bad. Sadly our worst experience of many. Won't be back.

Dinner was good. The restaurant was a little busy because everyone was headed to the same show in the hotel. Initial service was a little slow but really friendly and the chef managed to get a lot of tasty meals out at the same time.

Excellent meals and service. It's a comfortable restaurant to enjoy a casual dinner out or special occasion. Service was great. Shane allowed us time to enjoy our meal with no pressure to hurry up and finish. We really enjoyed our evening.

Fairly new to Penticton and the "Hood" was recommended to us for my wife's birthday. Staff were not aware that we were celebrating but Wendi made the night special for us. My wife is vegan and requested a substitution in her meal that was done with no questions. I like my steak done a particular way and Wendi made sure it was done exactly the way I wanted. Food was perfect in every respect. My congratulations to the chef, kitchen staff and Wendi for an unforgettable evening.Definitely returning.
