This place is where it's at.Not only is the food top quality, but the service is on par with their service. We came here as a group of seven, and they were quick to accommodate us.Their service here is top-notch and matches the quality of their sushi.I was blown away with how quick they were to serve us, get us our food in a timely matter, and how often they checked on us to ensure we had whad we needed. Our server was truly on it. Their service was incredible, and I was

I ordered a sushi & sashimi combo this afternoon for my lunch. Customer service is very good; however, the food is below average unfortunately and here is why: when the food arrived, I noticed that the roll is very thin and the nigiri sushi is smaller than usual. I don’t expect a huge portion; however, I think a normal, regular serving size create a very positive respect to the customer when the lunch combo is close to $27. And it is a bit disappointed to see that the few pieces of roll were cut so thin that it can’t even stand in it’s own. Again, I don’t expect huge portion, but it relies fully on the restaurant’s responsibilities of not being cheap out to reduce the food portions to the point of way below average. Customer noticed this right away. The quality of food and good customer service really bring customer to come back again and again. I really hope this can change in the next visit as this restaurant has really great customer service.

I’ve been going to Kamei Royale for 15 years. Its current state is a far fall from its previous glory as a top sushi resto in Vancouver. The ambiance is hustle, tables are too close together, staff are tense, the temperature is always uncomfortable, and the food is a mere fraction of the quality it used to be. Kamei had really superb sashimi and great Japanese specialty dishes but everything is now quite mediocre and the fish is average. It’s become just another unremarkable sushi resto in the downtown core. I truly hope it veers back to its former glory as we don’t need yet another lame sushi option, we need a great dining experience with memorable dishes.

Really cute classic Vancouver style Japanese restaurant, in fact the oldest in Canada?! Very nice service, super prompt and tasty for the prices.

Fabulous atmosphere, very authentic staff and decor, a great place for a date or meeting as it’s quite atmospheric. The presentation of dishes with cool performances - like flaming food, etc., is simply stunning. The price is slightly above average and the portions are not too big. However, the dishes are decent and fresh.

Not up to par. We were hungry so most food should taste good, but we were somewhat disappointed at this place. Got a BC roll, a spicy tuna roll, and a chicken kaarage. The chicken was ok, crisp and hot but overcooked on the outside. Lacked seasoning on the inside. The rolls were sad. Both rolls were loose and not firm or packed. The salmon skin in the BC roll was chewy not crisp, and it lacked sauce. The spicy tuna roll was just a plain sushi roll with a side of spicy sauce that did not have heat. The tuna inside the roll was mushy and grey, not firm and red. House tea is plain green tea which they charge for. Most other sushi places offer free tea. Here, $3 per order ... for tea. And they cleaned up while we were eating. Maybe wait till we're done, then clean up or at least ask if plates can be taken away.Japanese food is one of my favorites. But not at this restaurant. Expensive with food not up to expected standard. There are better choices within a few blocks' distance. Dismal experience. 2 rolls, 1 kaarage, and tea for 2 was $70.

Portions for the price are ridiculous. Service was exceptional but compared to ebisu a couple of blocks away, you get way less for your money. The food itself is decent, I would say mid tier sushi quality and taste but the price is basically Minami

It is very expensive. When we checked the menu in store, we didn't see the menu shown in their website. After I asked them, they said the menu I was looking for was only for lunch. By the way, the price of lunch and dinner could have 10+ dollars difference. Anyway, I think the price is way more expensive to me and won't visit again.

We went here for the first time and the food is absolutely amazing. We went for the Valentine's dinner course. The service is also very great. We would really like to come back and try their other dishes.
