My partner brought me here for my bday surprise and it was a beautiful surprise! We had the omakaze experience with the owner and chef Tom and I believe his wife. He was very sweet and so incredibly passionate about his creations. Every sauce, dish, is all his own creation and hand made from scratch. I also appreciate an introduction to every dish. Every dish was incredible and service was top notch. Highly recommend coming here for an omakaze experience with Tom.

It was experience to enjoy our first Omakase at Tekkaba in Vancouver. Crossing the border to enjoy the Canadian discount a little bit helped but Tom, the owner with his attention to detail, customer centric mindset and relaxed setting gave us the ability to converse with a man that has spent countless years crafting a great food journey through his dishes. Check out my photos and let them speak for themselves because my mouth was orgasming and moaning with every bite I took. It was a memorable experience for a birthday dinner for dad that he deserves and so much more!

Wife and I went on a date back in February. Looking for a reasonable omakase experience. Found this. Was pleasantly surprised. We did the Dinner Omakase @$78/person. The set menu varies. Chef walks you through the courses and provide information on how best to enjoy the dish.I know there are a lot of Michelin Star and Michelin recommended omakase out there, but having the experience without breaking the bank is good enough for me.Make a reservation, there’s no walk-ins here. Reminds me of those closed-door restaurants in Osaka. And also make sure you arrive early to get the seating at the bar. Very limited seating.

I feel scammed. 5 star service but with low to mid quality food. They are selling packaging instead of contents. The steamed egg is very generic and plain. The sweet shrimp tempura is a big red flag. It’s fried more like fish & chips than tempura. The shrimp head is not crispy enough to chew. I think restaurants usually serves sweet shrimps raw to showcase the freshness. I’ve never had fried sweet shrimps so I don’t know if the soft texture indicates low freshness or they just taste like this.Raw fish are mediocre. Some of them come with too much and strong-flavored sauce which totally overwrited the taste of the fish.I like the pasta but I don’t have much experience in them. The dessert is a total let down. It’s 1 piece of mochi ice cream which you can find in any grocery store. And it’s a small one.The chef doesn’t seem to be familar with making sushi’s as his hands shake a lot and hit the stainless still counter top a few times. They give you a 30% off coupon after the meal but I won’t go back.

The staff are very passionate about their work and friendly, but unfortunately found the quality of the food to be mediocre on the whole. It is on the cheaper side for omakase, but the seafood didn't taste fresh at all with some dishes in particular like the mackerel being hard to down. The rice also was somehow both sticky to the fingers but also falls apart much too easily especially since you have to dip it into soy sauce yourself to help with the flavouring of each piece. The best dish was definitely the creamy truffle pasta which was a good way to end the course.

Enjoyed an exquisite dining experience with the ambiance of classical music filling the air, while the chef meticulously described the ingredients of each dish with precision and depth.

My girlfriend and I came to Tekkaba for her birthday after seeing many posts about it on Instagram. This restaurant doesn't stand out from the outside, but as soon as you walk inside, it instantly gives a totally different impression. The lighting was very dim, which makes you feel the coziness inside. Unlike traditional omakases, where you sit around the bar and watch the chefs make the nigiris, Tekkaba brings the food to you on a wooden tray. The owner would then walk over to every table and explain to us what was on each dish. He emphasized how the wasabis are raw, real ones unlike typical imitated ones; they're also unlimited if you love them! My personal favorite dish turned out to be the truffle pasta instead of the nigiris. Apparently, the owner was an Italian chef for many years before he opened this Omakase restaurant. He really knows what he's doing with the pastas, and most people find them their favorites too. There was also live music at the end of the meal; the musician would mention the guest's special dates, and then the staff would bring a "special dessert" to these guests. I really appreciate the service!

My husband and I celebrated his birthday with an unforgettable dining experience at Tekkaba - a sushi omakase restaurant in Vancouver. We opted for the lunch menu and we arrived early and were seated at the bar, where we had the pleasure of interacting with Chef Tom, creating a memorable experience for us. He explained how the sushi was made and recommended some great combinations to try. The restaurant also had beautiful Korean art displayed and played classic music, which added to the wonderful atmosphere. I highly recommend trying out Tekkaba's high-quality fish and innovative dishes. Keep in mind that reservations are necessary and prices are as follows: $42 for lunch, $78 for dinner, and $118 for premium.

Brilliant Omakase dining experience. The chef and owner is so friendly and he explained in great detail everything about what we were about to eat, including how he made all the dressings and sauces. His wife and daughter were a delight to talk to too.

Tekkaba deserves 10 stars! Don't look any further for a better omakase experience. We enjoyed the omakase dinner for a birthday celebration priced at $78. We sat at the bar for an intimate experience with Chef Tom, who you can tell is passionate about his work as he meticulously perfected every dish he served us. He took the time to chat with us, explaining each dish and the best way to enjoy his delicious creations. This was my first omakase but Chef Tom has set the bar high! I was worried we would leave still hungry but we left completely full as the 12 course meal had multiple parts to it, finishing with the most amazing truffle Uni pasta that chef said is the most popular dish and for a good reason! Chef Tom and his wife work beautifully together to provide a wonderful dining experience that was unforgettable!

Not worth the price at all. I didn’t expect overcooked rice and cheap sashimi for omakase. Worse than average sushi.

Amazing place to eat out! Everything as delicious. The experience was surreal, Tom was super sweet and explained everything. If you go for omakase, be sure to take the sake pairing!! Came for my birthday and got a really nice surprise at the end! ☺️

Embarking on a culinary journey at Tekkaba Vancouver on a snowy day, my boyfriend and I experienced our first omakase. The modern and beautiful ambiance, accompanied by welcoming service, set the stage for a delightful evening. Each dish from the carefully crafted 12-step menu, from the exquisite chawanmushi to the heavenly caviar truffle, was explained with care. The chef's meticulous creations made our first omakase at Tekkaba a truly memorable and enchanting experience. Sometimes the dinner is accompanied by live music and a piano as well. We tried the sake flood shot pairing but there's also a wine selection!
