Bench is by far my favourite bakery in Vancouver. The quality is consistent and everything always tastes SO GOOD. It is difficult to narrow down choices so I usually leave with a packed box. Also, the staff are quite wonderful: friendly, helpful and enthusiastic.

I was at the Bench yesterday and asked the person behind the counter about the difference between two of their loaves. The server who didn't have gloves on took two loaves from the shelf to show them to me, just seconds after taking cash from another customer. I was absolutely disgusted and will not shop at Bench again. Totally unacceptable.

Always wanted to drop by here and finally got the chance to drop by during their opening hours. Got to try the Seasonal Rotating Danish, the guava flavoured with kiwi fruits. It was sooo tasty for someone that's a huge fan of guava. Super flaky with just the right amount of sweetness. Would love to come by for more and try their other pastries and bread!! Everything looked really fresh and seemed perfectly made

I love the ciabatta and baguettes at Benchmark! However I may stop going there because I get embarrassed every time it's time to pay. I'm passed the pos machine and I have to chose what tip I'm supposed to pay. A couple of times I tipped but didn't feel right about it on my way out the door. Now I don't tip but feel cheap while the very pleasant and helpful staff is waiting for the pos machine back. I'm sorry but I have just been passed a few buns and if I start tipping at the bakery for such a short service then should I start tipping everywhere else that store staff just passes me something.

i was looking for a place to get a box of pastries as a gift. They were near me and seemed to have great reviews.I went in just after opening. They're inside the Il Mercato mall. Theres a free parking lot underneath for 45mins (but you need to register at the machine). Supermarket elevator takes you right to near their main entrance which is nice.I bought 6 different types of croissants. They were excellent, nothing to really complain about. Their seasonal special was an apple croissant which was well-received by my guests, as were the rest of them.Prices are high, $5.50-6 each, but you get what you pay for. They also serve espresso drinks. I got an americano, which was fine, nothing mind blowing.Their selection of pastries is small, and they seem focused on croissant variations, which they do very well. The place itself is a very small storefront, not a ton of seating so probably better to get things to go esp when its busy.I would def come back, really for 2 main reasons: excellent croissants, and free parking in the lot. No hunting for street spots and not having to pay for parking are huge pluses.

I’m here weekly and usually the service is decent. Today was the WORST customer service I’ve had in a really long time. The employee rushed my order wouldn’t even let me order more items, cut me off as Im ordering ($190) Used her tongs to point at customers making them rush to the cash. AWEFUL EXPERIENCE!!!! They just lost a loyal customer!

My favorite bakery in BC ❤️I hadn't visited for a month, but today's croissants were the best I've ever had.The last time they were a bit dry and less buttery, but today's experience was delightful. Huge thanks to the baker for the amazing almond chocolate and almond apple croissants today! You guys are fantastic!!!

I regularly shop here, but do so less now that the prices have become so high--or the items, like the baguettes, seem to have shrunk. We no longer purchase our favourite pastry--the morning bun--because they are too expensive and consistently over-baked and dry. The baguettes, small though they may be, are excellent, and easily the best I have had in Vancouver. The quiches are also excellent, but pricey.

Bought a couple baguettes, fig & walnut loaf, chocolate almond double baked croissant, almond double baked croissant, chocolate brioche and a mixed berry scone. Thought it was odd that my purchases smelled strongly of oil and onion; Even the wife could smell it from the front passenger seat when I placed the bag into the trunk. When we went to try the pastries, they all smelled and tasted of onion, as if they had been baked with some infused onion oil. Baked on the same pans as the onion loaves? Who knows, but it was a little off-putting particularly with our sweet pastries. They were all individually packed in paper, so there wouldn't have been any sort of contamination. Read all the reviews and seemed to have been a one-off. Nonetheless, 5-stars because the baguettes and croissants were still excellent! Haven't broken into the fig & walnut loaf yet. We're very excited to have found a bakery with such an excellent baguette. Will definitely add Bench to our regular rotation.

This is a wonderful bakery offering a wide selection of bakery items made of quality ingredients in imaginative recipes. Bench is a veritable treasure trove of delicious and healthy items. Be sure to ask about their quiche, sold whole or by the piece. Service is terrific. I love this place and am grateful for their presence in our community.
