“Had the best lunch at Kahuna with out of town friends. The Loco Moco was a delite for my husband but the Kiluaea Kahlua pork was beyond expectations ... great service and friendly fun owners. The dole whip with lava sauce was a pleasant surprise ... good portions, great food ... didn't get back to get the macadamia nut bars but now I have a great excuse to get back there SOON1”

“This is our must go to restaurant when we visit Victoria via boat for 30 years. First-year there I ordered the BlackBerry halibut and every year since then I order it and it's still my favorite cooked perfect, it's hard to make halibut moist like butter. My husband loves the olive tapenade they serve with their focaccia bread and will get an extra bowl to pour on his pasta. Best cheese cake too. Great culture, attention to detail, they even use copper water pitchers, the water is great.”

Victoria is lucky to have KAPPO Marta around. Service was first-class from the moment we walked in. Shrimp Gyoza was light yet incredibly moist inside - a delicate balance done just right. The Oyako Don was done to perfection, with delicious pickled garnishes. Chirashi Don was exactly what I was hoping for, and though squid may not be my favorite, every fish in the bowl was unique and tasty. Visually stunning, by the way.

To be honest, one of my now favorite spots in all of Victoria. Definitely coming back - thank you for a great meal!”

“This was our first experience with Ugly Duckling and we were very impressed with the knowledge of the staff explaining how each dish was made, including the particular wine pairing. Each dish was a work of art and enhanced the taste experience along with the processes used for creating the delicate combination of flavours. The atmosphere, the staff's cheerful, elegant engagement with our guests, and their patience with our "foody" friend that wanted to learn of every detail of every dish was sooo appreciated. The intimate, calmly paced serving of the many dishes was such a treat to truly enjoy the whole experience - the restaurant atmosphere, the educated and friendly servers, including the chef visiting our table and cheerfully engaging in our foody friend grilling him for more details on the dish preparations was such a welcome and new dining experience for the four of us. Included in the experience was the restaurant following up by phone prior to our reservation reconfirming specific food alerts for one of our guests, and the surprise special birthday presentation to one of our other guests was the perfect ending to an amazing experience! BRAVO!”

“Went in for dinner on a recommendation from a friend. OH MY. We went in thinking it would just be another dinner spot - we were so wrong. From when you first enter & you smell the fresh herbs to when you sit down around the table on super comfortable chairs/couches. WOW. The staff were attentive, personal and yet not in your zone too much. Helpful with advice on the food and menu. 10/10. The food was on another planet. We had three dishes in total - one appy and two mains. Cooked perfectly, extremely fresh flavours and large portions. The naan bread… just wow. Delish! Will be coming back and telling everyone about this. They deserve a line out the door.”

“I visited a few times this week and every time I was greeted with a smile and kind employee, either in the drive thru or inside the restaurant. I always order the same thing; a tea and a bagel. Each time they made my order just the way I asked. They never forgot the sleeve, I only had to ask for once which is very refreshing! When I presented the Tim's app they thanked me for my loyalty. First time for that. If you havent had the steeped tea, try it here!!”

“We came with 2 families to celebrate (last minute) a 7th birthday. As soon as the crew found out it was her birthday they came out with a muffin, candle, and special treats for all the kids! The kids got to make their own cones as well! They made this little girl’s day!!! They truly made the day so special!”

“First time in ages I had exceptional service at a Tim Hortons. The cashier actually talked to me. I ordered an americano. She told me that as a child an Americano sounded so special so her Mom ordered her one. At eight she wasn’t thrilled, but now it’s her favourite order. It was cool being able to hold a conversation. Nowadays there isn’t much chat. I had had a crazy morning, and so happy I went… it was a last minute thing.

The store was clean. Garbage bin, wasn’t overflowing, and tables were clean -first time in ever. Floor wasn’t a sticky mess. Will definitely come in again if I see this darling girl serving.

I didn’t get her name, but she has a black cat. We discussed cats - I bought the new hallowe’en mug.”

“This place is much better now that they have cleaned and renovated it.
The only complaint I have are the bathrooms.
The men's bathroom is kind of small for a power wheelchair.
It's doable but kind of tricky.
It was also not clean when I went in, there was toilet paper all over the floor and the handicapped stall toilet was not flushed.
I chose not to use it, luckily I'm less than 5 minutes from home.
Not sure if the ladies is the same or not.”

“I would like to say that Hamsa working at the Goldstream Village (Langford BC) Tim Horton’s outlet I had occasion to sit watching him produce his orders in a timely and efficient manner, but more than that he had outstanding customer service skills with each and every person he came in contact with. During a time when it is difficult to get valuable employee’s who are an asset to the Tim Horton’s brand name, it was gratifying to see that this outlet had hired an exemplary employee. It was interesting to see that there were other employee’s “goofing around” but this didn’t distract Hamsa from doing his job. Again I appreciate the outstanding service Hamsa is providing at this outlet.”

“My whisky club and I heard about Macaloney's around 2020 and sampled what was then not considered whisky, but 2 year old spirit. We were all intrigued, and are pleased to have enjoyed the whisky getting better and better each year.

Their core line is outstanding, but their unique casks (Sugar Kelp Infused Peat Project, Ex-Islay Cask, Moscatel Cask) are some of the best whiskies I've tasted.

Our whisky club has ran with the thesis that age statements don't define a good whisky, but the character behind how it is made does. Canadian whisky is full of character, and one of the most exciting whisky regions worldwide right now...And Macaloney's is leading the charge.”

“This is a review from August 2, 2025: We stopped at Shuck Taylor’s on a whim while off the ship for the day, and I’m so glad we did. Even without a reservation, they accommodated the two of us last minute with genuine hospitality. It’s a simple, no-frills spot, but the food was absolutely extraordinary.

The attention to detail was impeccable—from the freshly shucked oysters served with a pile of freshly grated horseradish to their own house-made oyster spirit, which added an unexpected flavor burst to a glorious Bloody Caesar. The Dungeness crab was to die for—sweet, rich, and perfectly prepared.

One of the standout dishes was the buffalo oysters—totally unique and so delicious I wanted to order more, but I was already too full. Sitting at the bar felt casual, but the warmth and attentiveness of the staff (including, I believe, the owner) really elevated the whole experience.

Highly recommended. This place is a gem”

Restaurant is large - it has great ambience, the layout provides a personal and intimate feeling despite there being many tables. The food is superb, we plan on returning to make our way through the great menu. It is the best place we have eaten at in Canada for food, service and ambience. We highly recommend the seafood tower as a way to taste through some of the menu. The grilled octopus rivalled what we have eaten in Italy. The pork belly was cooked to perfection. The wine list is extensive and expertly curated.”

“This is one of Victoria's highlights. Bunny's is a hidden gem of a cafe and one of the few places to get a decent latte, flat white, or cappuccino. The food is good, but the atmosphere is cozy and community-oriented. The best way to describe Bunny's is that it's like coming back home for the first time. We're originally from Ontario, and stepping into Bunnie's, it was a quality cafe experience without any of the pretentiousness downtown. Just make sure you have some time to kill because once you get to the cafe, you won't want to leave, and they do close early.”

There were over 10 courses which were all delicious - hot and fresh. There was a set up for music and people from our group sang Christmas carols and Chinese songs at a karaoke mic. Please note that this is not your typical Chinese restaurant that serves the run-of the mill dishes for a quick turn-around; instead, this restaurant serves authentic Cantonese cuisines. The chef is passionate about his cooking -- they use the freshest produce and ensure that customers enjoy the pure and natural taste of the dishes. The restaurant is tastefully decorated; it is devoid of the 'loud' Chinese lanterns or traditional writings -- and this reflects the owners' attention to detail. Dining in March is a delightful and satisfying culinary experience. Highly recommended!”

“We are quite happy with Boom & Batten. We love the food, the view as well as the atmosphere, for the most part. One of the issues is what makes my husband feel uncomfortable while we are trying to enjoy dining. The choice of music is not suited at all to fine dining. It is so unpleasant that my husband asks to leave as fast as we can & at times, he prefers another restaurant. We have mentioned it few times but nothing changes. Gentler music would enhance our experience considerably. The other disappointment is mine. I love the grilled cauliflower for either breakfast with two poached, for lunch with the beet & goat cheese salad. I enjoy it for dinner as well. The unfortunate part is that the portion I am served lately is barely more than half of what I was served a mere 6 mos ago. I am always left wanting more.”

“My husband and I had breakfast here as we were staying at the hotel. It's a beautiful space with lovely views of downtown Victoria. My husband had the short rib hash and he enjoyed it very much. I had the yogurt parfait. It was okay. The homemade granola lacked flavor and depth. The fruit was hard and not ripe at all, it also had very little flavor. All in all it was bland. I did ask for some cinnamon to sprinkle on top and that helped a bit.”

“Fun atmosphere. The menu was ok no big surprises. Noise level was over the top, but guessing that was because of the World Series game. The service was excellent and even though we showed up 50 minutes early for our reservation they were able to set us almost immediately.”

“Tasmin was our server When we arrived, it was very busy, Tasmin seated us quickly in the "VIP" section which made my kids very excited. She was an absolute wonderful server, she was personable, funny and very knowledgable and helpful with the menu. She made our visit one of our favorite memories from our vacation. I would highly recommend this restaurant to families, it is a great atmosphere. Also, they offer a gluten free menu if you have dietary restrictions. A good selection of fresh fish, the ratio rice/fish is perfect compared to other sushi places in Victoria and the chef added a bit of citrus on some nigiri that are fattier and some nigiri are blowtorch to enhance the flavor which shows his skills and knowledge. Love the mix of tempura and fried shallots for the crispy salmon roll. I would definitely recommend to try them out! Their prices are very reasonable considering the quality. Definitely my go to place for sushi now.”

“First time at Ay MI Mexico and can't wait to go back. We ordered the cochinitas and barbacoa tacos. They were fresh, crispy and the pickled red onions were so good. We also tried the Lamb Consumme which was rich and flavourful with lots of meat and chick peas finished with lime and cilantro. Amazing, friendly staff. A perfect meal to take to the park. Excellent paired with Horritos lime soda from the convenience store.”

“INCREDIBLE. I hope that this business makes money hand over fist, because they're hitting the nostalgia G-spot of every age demographic. Live dj. Fresh pizza. Group Mario Kart. Probably 30 pinball machines from every era. Impeccable service. Quality merch. Literally the only detractor is the fact that they only have 2 single washrooms, but this is likely due to the building structure and out of their control. I can hardly wait to go back, and encourage every visitor to Victoria to go.”

“Oh wow, this just became my favourite cafe in the city—hands down. If the super great used book selection and array of African and West Asian vinyl (new and OP) wasn’t an indication this place is run by some wickedly cool people, the excellent coffee and food selection would still make this place marvelous and quite special.

The rolls were generous in size and the fish tasted top-quality. The staff were welcoming and attentive, and the service was quick even during the dinner rush. The restaurant has a cozy, relaxed vibe that makes it a great spot for both takeout and dine-in. Definitely one of the best sushi spots I’ve tried — I’ll be back for sure!”
