“Came here at just after 4pm today on a whim. Clearly we hadn’t checked their opening time ahead of our visit and when we rolled up it was closing. However as we were planning our next move their finance guys happened to be leaving and asked if we would like to be servers some whiskey and beer. Of course we said yes! He opened everything back up for us and proceeded to served some samples and a tasting flight. Then he gave us a little tour of the back. Clearly MacAloney’s finance guy cares about the bottom line because we bought a few bottles. But more than that he cares about service and keeping customers happy. What a great afternoon and what a great place! Oh and their whiskey is fantastic too.”

From when you first enter & you smell the fresh herbs to when you sit down around the table on super comfortable chairs/couches. WOW. The staff were attentive, personal and yet not in your zone too much. Helpful with advice on the food and menu. 10/10. The food was on another planet. We had three dishes in total - one appy and two mains. Cooked perfectly, extremely fresh flavours and large portions. The naan bread… just wow. Delish! Will be coming back and telling everyone about this. They deserve a line out the door.”

“The unhoused have basically taken over this tims every night and morning - almost every booth is occupied by people sleeping or coming down off a high. Regular interruptions and outbursts by people who clearly need assistance and aren't getting it. I feel bad for the staff- they do a great job dealing with the chaos it brings. It's been a consistent problem for a while and it's only getting worse as we go into another autumn/winter cycle.”

“Your graveyard guy is amazing. He's been there for years, (3 yrs? 5 yrs? 10 yrs?). He has dark brown hair with glasses. He's always fast, pleasant and professional. Hopefully the owners know this and show him how much they value him.”

“I stopped by after a long day, and overall the place seemed fine. The bathroom, however, was honestly awful and definitely needed some attention.

One positive thing I noticed was a really young kid named Allen working there. He was very friendly and helpful. He showed me where to sit, helped me figure out what to order, and was also taking care of things like changing the garbage. He was working hard and was very polite. It was nice to see someone so young taking his job seriously.”

Great playground plus lots of lush grassy area. Dogs on leadh allowed. A reasonable amount of free parking. Has a free public boat launch on site as well. Only 2 blocks from coffee shops and other amenities.”

Restaurant is large - it has great ambience, the layout provides a personal and intimate feeling despite there being many tables. The food is superb, we plan on returning to make our way through the great menu. It is the best place we have eaten at in Canada for food, service and ambience. We highly recommend the seafood tower as a way to taste through some of the menu. The grilled octopus rivalled what we have eaten in Italy. The pork belly was cooked to perfection. The wine list is extensive and expertly curated.”

“This is one of Victoria's highlights. Bunny's is a hidden gem of a cafe and one of the few places to get a decent latte, flat white, or cappuccino. The food is good, but the atmosphere is cozy and community-oriented. The best way to describe Bunny's is that it's like coming back home for the first time. We're originally from Ontario, and stepping into Bunnie's, it was a quality cafe experience without any of the pretentiousness downtown. Just make sure you have some time to kill because once you get to the cafe, you won't want to leave, and they do close early.”

When they state porkbelly and you get shaved roast porkbelly that is not seasoned and because it is thinner than their bacon super chewy and distracts from the other flavours of the dish which are okay. If they rubbed it and braised the belly and cut proper thick slices for porkbelly it would do the oppisite and add to the dish 🥲.”

“A small family business with exceptional food and service. The atmosphere is pleasant, with gentle music, books, and curios around the restaurant.

It's a small shop located inside the mall, better for a smaller group. When we visited there was construction inside the mall which was unfortunate, but the staff tried to reduce the noise and dust.

I wish they didn't use AI art in the menus -- we almost didn't visit for this reason, which would have been a shame because it was a great experience. It would've been nice to have real photos of the actual food in the menus, because the actual food was both gorgeous and fantastic.

Had fantastic vegetarian ramen, which came with some side dishes, and a really delicious blended drink. Staff was friendly and gave us a small free taro dessert. I will definitely be back!”

“An Unforgettable Evening at Lumache

Lumache offers one of the most unique dining experiences in Victoria. With only 16 seats, the restaurant feels intimate and personal. The owner and chef prepares each course directly in front of you, allowing you to watch the entire evening unfold.

Every dish was thoughtful, beautifully presented and full of flavour. The vintage plates added character, while the small setting made the meal feel more like dining in the chef’s private kitchen than visiting a traditional restaurant.

My wife enjoyed her wine selection, and the group seated beside us spoke highly of the wine pairings. We are more drawn to cocktails, and Lumache’s creative cocktail list did not disappoint.

The entire evening was a huge hit. Lumache delivered one of the best dining experiences I have encountered in Victoria—if not anywhere. For anyone who appreciates excellent Italian food, thoughtful drinks and a truly intimate atmosphere, this restaurant is an absolute must.”

Both JBCH and SPCH are family-owned businesses, and the owners are truly hands-on, working alongside their staff and setting a wonderful standard of excellence. You can feel that commitment in the friendly, happy atmosphere they have created for their customers. James Bay Coffee House is a lovely coffee house, and we are so fortunate to have it right here in James Bay. I think it is absolutely worth a visit when you're looking for a great coffee house to enjoy on your own or with others.”

“Absolutely love the 6 Mile Pub! As someone who needs gluten-free options, I was so impressed by the huge gluten-free menu and how many choices there were. It was such a nice change to have so many options instead of feeling limited to one or two dishes. Everything we ordered was delicious! We had the fish and chips (come automatically gluten free) and were hands down the best I've ever had!

Our server, Faune, was truly wonderful. She was incredibly warm, friendly, attentive, and made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. Her service really made the experience even better.

We also tried the Lamb Consumme which was rich and flavourful with lots of meat and chick peas finished with lime and cilantro. Amazing, friendly staff. A perfect meal to take to the park. Excellent paired with Horritos lime soda from the convenience store.”

“This place had a very good price for the portion size. Food was fresh and tasty with the dishes including lots of flavour. We ate the edamame, udon noodle bowl, kung pao chicken and teriyaki chicken.However, all their chicken was deep fried including teriyaki chicken which you would expect to be grilled. Kung pao not as spicy as expected. Other than those issues, the staff were nice and the place was well kept. They also did a good job st staggering the dishes. Overall, a pretty decent place for a quick bite and freshly made.👍”
