Dutch Bros Aims to Double Store Count by 2029, Expands to Retail
Dutch Bros Coffee recently opened its 1,000th store in February. Now, the coffee chain aims to double to 2,029 shops by 2029.
Looking ahead, the company sees room for more than 7,000 stores across the country, a big jump from its earlier goal of 4,000 shops.
"Led by field operations teams deeply rooted in our culture and hungry to grow, and supported by a leadership team with complementary skills and first-hand knowledge of scale, we are well positioned to deliver sustainable, long-term value while staying true to our mission of making a massive difference, one cup at a time," said Dutch Bros president and CEO Christine Barone.

The Oregon-based chain expects yearly sales to grow about 20%, with new store growth in the mid-teens and small increases in sales at existing stores. The company recently reported that same-store sales grew 4.6% through March 24 compared to last year.
To help with this growth plan, Dutch Bros hired Brian Cahoe as chief development officer earlier this year. Cahoe brings 24 years of experience from Yum! Brands, where he most recently led store growth for KFC U.S.
Beyond opening new stores, Dutch Bros is starting to sell its products in grocery stores. The company announced a partnership with Trilliant Food & Nutrition to create packaged coffee and related products for grocery stores, supermarkets, and club stores starting next year.
"We believe this offering will build brand awareness, especially in newer markets by providing exposure to new potential customers," Barone explained. "This new channel, structured as a licensing agreement, will allow us to share our passion for exceptional beverages with a wider audience."
Some money from these retail sales will go to the Dutch Bros Foundation for community projects.
The company is seeing more people use its mobile ordering platform, now about 10% of all orders, up from 8% in the fourth quarter. Many mobile customers are using the chain's walk-up windows - 15% compared to the usual 10%.

Looking to 2026, Dutch Bros plans to add food items to its menu. Currently testing eight options including breakfast sandwiches and bakery items, the company aims to boost morning sales while keeping service fast.
"Our mix is unlikely to be this high...but our goal with food is to utilize a focused assortment to fulfill need states and drive frequency," said Dutch Bros CMO Tana Davila.
With these growth plans, Dutch Bros is set to become a stronger player in the U.S. coffee market by the end of the decade.
