Smoothie King Plans 60% Growth in Colorado
Smoothie King, the world's largest smoothie chain, is continuing its expansion in Colorado with two new store openings and six additional locations planned, the company announced. The move follows the brand opening five new stores in the state in 2023.
The franchise-owned stores recently debuted in Longmont and Glendale, both within the Denver metro area which Smoothie King sees as a critical market. Over the next three years, six more shops will open in Lafayette, Highlands Ranch, Wheat Ridge, Lakewood, Englewood and Parker, growing the chain's Colorado presence by nearly 60% to a total of 22 locations.
"We are thrilled to expand our footprint not only in the Denver area—a key market for Smoothie King—but more broadly throughout Colorado, a state where we still have plenty of growth opportunity for new and existing franchisees," said Chris Bremer, Chief Development Officer at Smoothie King. "We're proud to show up in so many of Colorado's communities, that like Smoothie King, are passionate about living healthy and active lifestyles."
At Smoothie King's Colorado stores, customers will find an extensive menu of nutritious smoothies and beverages designed to optimize wellness routines. Every offering aligns with the company's "Clean Blends Promise," which prioritizes whole fruits and organic vegetables while prohibiting over 75 ingredients such as artificial flavors, colors, preservatives and added sugars.
In fact, many of Smoothie King's blends contain no added sugar at all, a significant contrast to the 39 grams of sugar in a typical 12-ounce soda. The approach reflects the brand's commitment to "inspire healthy and active lifestyles."
Founded in 1973, Dallas-based Smoothie King now operates more than 1,300 locations worldwide. The Colorado expansion coincides with the company's plans for new stores in high-growth markets like Las Vegas and Grand Rapids, Michigan. Capitalizing on increased consumer focus on wellness, Smoothie King is targeting 100 new store openings in 2024.
