“Have been told by other people to avoid getting food from this spot. Didnt let that stop me from checking it out for myself. We ordered to go for the office as an early birthday celebration so we made a pretty big order. Food was done in a good amount of time. Most of us ordered the 3 item bento box. We were all pleasantly surprised at how good everything was. I got the bento box with cali roll, chicken teriyaki and veggie tempura. Everything was pretty good. Even the miso soup and the house salad. Would definitely get food here again in the future.“

“Instant favorite! Outstanding hole-in-the-wall establishment. Got 3 Uni as part of the generous sashimi lunch special. Fantastic fish protein quality, strongly competitive prices, lovely family-owned environment. Will go here again as soon as I'm nearby.“

“Ordered the katsu & garlic rice. Great customer service on the phone. They were very kind and patient with order taking and giving good directions. Katsu was some of the highest quality I've had in a while. Super thin crispy breading with white meat chicken. Very delicious and the garlic rice paired well. Good flavor and cooked to perfection. “This is kind of an out of the way spot which is taking over an old pho restaurant.I flew in late to Oakland airport, I need something warm and homey. Frankly, I was itching for a good ramen. Having lived in the Bay Area many years, I knew I could find something like that. This place wasn't too far off of my path, and it was late and they were still open.Walking in the place is fairly unassuming, yet there is still some customers there. Almost that closing. I asked quickly if it was too late to grab a ramen, the kind gal could be said please have a seat.Looking around, I saw several tables that were covered with dirty dishes and uneaten food. Well that wasn't necessarily a great first impression, at least they had a good rush.Sitting down I received a menu, and a glass of cold water.Looking at the menu there was a variety of ramens to choose from, and so I went to my go-to Tonkotsu. Almost nothing better than a Tonkotsu with Chashu late at night. Done that many times after hours in Tokyo.Anyway I had to add Gyoza as a side to complete it.First come out the gyoza, and their fried on all sides. That is not my first choice, and this is very common when prepared by non-Japanese. I bit in, and while decent, they were not great. But the Ramen came out, and I was very excited. It smelled right, the broth was piping hot, and there was several good pieces of Chashu.First, I sip the broth. It was good and hot. Second, I slurped the noodles, they are firm, warm, and perfect flavor. I grab a little sneak bite of a Chashu, It's warm, nice savory flavor, and a good thick piece. I'm pleased. I dive in. Before I knew it the ramen was gone, Gyoza, pretty much gone, and I was very full. The broth was nice and hardy, with a savory thick flavor, and simply it was a calming experience before hitting the hotel. For me my final question is always "would I go back?" The answer is a definite yes. Though I probably would not get the gyoza. But if you're looking for a good ramen, I recommend.“

“AMAZING quality, a clean ambiance, great service and family friendly. We came for lunch and the rolls we ordered were delicious and the sushi/fish was all so so fresh. The staff was ever so warm, inviting and attentive -- we had a 2 year old with us so eating out can become a thing, but their kiddo friendly options were a hit and the staff checked in on us frequently and never made us feel like "that" family. My two year old had a California roll (real crab, little bits of cucumber and generous avo!), udon noodles and he even killed my miso soup side. We're hoping to come back here for a date night (beautiful interior) to try out some other items from their menu and what looks to be a very generously stocked bar and drink options. Thank you, Kinja!“

“Great spot! They don't have the variety a fancy place might, but they put out good food and are always very friendly.Shima Aji is my absolute favorite and I almost never see it anywhere, but it was on their special board recently! Ordered 3, no regrets =P“

“This is the finest sushi restaurant I have ever been to. Their food is fresh and delicious. I’ve been coming here since 2008 and since my 1st visit have never been anywhere else. They are friendly and make you feel like family. I live in Vallejo CA and still travel to Pleasant Hill, CA for their food. Each time I have dined there I come out totally satisfied.“

“Honestly some of the best Japanese food I've had in the Bay Area. Everything is fairly priced and portions are large, sushi was very tasty and super diverse menu. Great service and clean place. Nothing to complain about, if you're craving Japanese food in the San Ramon area, this is the spot.“

“YOU HAVE TO COME VISIT IF YOU ARE A PICKY SUSHI EATER. It's a simple spot that looks like it's family owned, very unassuming but has the best sushi I had in the Bay Area for a while. Very fresh fish, reasonably priced, service is excellent. It's simply outstanding, please give them a try and you won't be disappointed! The sushi literally melts in your month IM NOT LYING TO YOU go“

“I called and ordered a roll to go-the Storm roll. It was delicious, and the finest quality and freshness! The owners were there, and the place looks extremely cute inside and also has outside seating. I had never been here before, but will be coming back soon. Very good sushi!“

“It’s a contemporary Japanese restaurant with an extensive menu. Decor is bright and cheery. Bonus points for big screens showing a winning Warriors game on the night we dined there! ? Personally I had the cheesy katsu on a sizzling hot plate which was quite a sight and tastes pretty good. My party had sushi and ramen which are ok but the broth is not complex flavor-wise. The draft beer in frosted mugs is refreshing and goes very well with the katsu. Service is friendly and lots of drink options from sake to soju to ramunes. Definitely something for everyone.Vegetarian options: There are options even for plant-based diets.Parking: Saw a couple of pay-per-use EV charging spots in the parking lot too. Probably J1772s.Kid-friendliness: Good menu options for kids and they provide little chopstick training widgets for a fun experience“

“I know my carnivore friends don't hate me but when you have a partner as awesome as I do and she says she wants to try this sushi place that also serves vegan sushi what do you do, you take her there. Mind you they also have fish based dishes. But I went with it and it was very good. The green dragon roll consisting of tempora sweet potato, avocado and egg plant was great. The sunshine roll with mango, tempura jalapeño, sun dried tomato and avocado was also great. The vegan baked spicey scallop with baked king mushrooms and avocado was also great. Winner of the night.....Green Dragon. The rest come 2nds. Ambiance is nice and the staff is on top of it. All around very nice and will be coming back.“

“Came here in search of vegetarian sushi and was super impressed. Not a sushi person, but dining here changed my mind about sushi. We tried Green Machine & Little Island - both amazing. The Matcha Pannacotta was okayish. Also tried the cauliflower but the sauce was a bit too sweet for my liking.Look forward to coming back here.“

“Ok, this is a neighborhood strip mall teriyaki joint, and its not much to look at. But I've been coming here for years, and it never changes: really good food for a reasonable price. I usually either get the teriyaki beef plate, or a chicken katsu...highly recommended!“

“Actually delicious. We’ve had a lot of sushi in the east bay and this was easily the best takeout - fish was fresh, cuts were generous, and seasoning was interesting and delicious. A little expensive for normal sushi takeout in my opinion but a nice monthly treat! We’ll be back to dine in!Dietary restrictions: Gluten, dairy, egg free“

“This sushi restaurant has some of the best sashimi in the Tri Valley. The staff are extremely friendly and it sort of a small town diner vibe with lots of regulars and friendly smiles upon entering. There are a couple of very interest specialty rolls and other sushi specialties that are worth trying, and their happy hour specials on beer are hard to pass up.“

“Exceptional service, polite staff, clean & organized with the best prices around. The Lion king roll was the highlight of my day with the fried bananas for dessert. The spicy seared salmon was gloriously refreshing & the tamago was cut in a heart shape when a chef noticed my husband & I we're sharing every plate New favorite spot & I will be certain to tell everyone I know about this gem of a dining experience.P.S. TIP the staff more than a dollar, they're hard workers & truly deserve it since tips are split between so many efficient individuals.“

“I've been coming here for at least 25 years. The staff knows me and my family. The sushi is always fresh and not too much rice, which fills you up, so you can order more rolls! They have all the standard rolls and will customize them if you don't like certain fish. I like the sashimi combination, rose roll, black and white roll, and rainbow roll. They give you some cucumber and crab salad at the beginning of your meal for free. They have a few flavors of Mochi for dessert. They serve very quickly. It may take an hour or less most times we go.“

“Food: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Price: 3.5/5 Atmosphere: 5/5 TL;DR: This place has such a cute, traditional Japanese aesthetic -- most of the seating are regular tables but they have a tatami styled seating that fits larger groups. It does get a little chilly in there are lots of fans that are running throughout the restaurant. The service is great, everyone was really nice and patient. The quality of the fish is really good -- comparable to some of my favorite sushi spots in SF but does fall on the more expensive side. But for a restaurant in San Leandro, it's such a hidden gem. (also their wasabi is so good and strong, big fan lol) Nankotsu: *5/5*: Fried chicken knee cartilage. This was so so so good. If you like cartilage, you must try it. The batter & seasoning were delicious. It's pretty much like standard chicken karaage with pieces of chewy, crunchy cartilage pieces. Wish it came with some sort of sauce or aioli (but sauce isn't needed) Tuna Carpaccio: *4/5*: The tuna is delicious -- really fresh and soft, melt in your mouth. Pairs really well with the fresh greens and citrus-y sesame garlic dressing. The tuna was really thin and for the price, would've been nice if it was thicker. Salmon Sashimi: 4*/5*: 3 pieces of fresh soft, tender and melt in your mouth salmon. Can't go wrong with this (kind of expensive though) O Toro Nigiri: *5/5*: Such thick buttery soft pieces of tuna. The sushi rice was pretty good as well but not the best ever. Throw some wasabi on this and it's the perfect bite. Sunset Roll: *3/5*: the spicy crab and pieces of sashimi on top of the roll was good; however there was barely any tempura shrimp inside the roll. Some pieces either had just tempura batter (no shrimp) or such tiny pieces of shrimp so it feels like you're eating veggies, rice, and the fish on top. Also wished there was a sauce drizzles on top. Chicken Skin Skewer: *4/5*: pretty good, crunchy yet chewy. But for the price, probably won't order it again unless I'm really craving it. Pork Belly Nigiri: *2/5*: the pieces we got were way too overcooked so it was super dry and tough to eat -- disappointing that it was that bad, especially given the price too Tempura Udon: *5/5/*: this is SOOO good. we loved how the udon noodles were actually thinner than typical, and it was super soft yet chewy. The broth was perfectly savory and so addicting. Tempura is fried really well and it came with a "sauce" which was essentially the broth with grated radish in it. Would definitely order this again, we were so impressed.“

“Honestly, the food here is amazing! I've ordered multiple things from the menu and yet I have not been disappointed. My favorite rolls so far are the Kibo, Hartz, Salmon Skin hand roll and Isabel!! Isabel, Hartz & Salmon skin hand-roll are my top 3 favorites. For the appetizer, I really enjoy the garlic edamame!! If you're a garlic girl like I am, you should definitely give it a try. The gyozas and mixed tempura are a hit as well!! For rice plates, I really enjoy the chicken teriyaki. I usually never order chicken teriyaki at restaurants but oh man this one is soooo good. I really like the salad and pickled vegetables that come with it.“

“Enjoyed appetizer of their Special of the day- crab, jalapeno, cream cheese, fried and with crunch topping. Was good but jalapeño was raw, would have been great if jalapeño was par cooked in this deep dried roll. Raw was clunky.Great vegetarian options that were unique, especially the yummy yummy roll, vegetarian roll, Japanese pickles and side salad.Guest had bento box chicken teriyaki, chicken was dry, not great. California roll standard. The rolls were great but bento was not my cup of tea. You may like it.“

“Here you can find polite service and savory food. The waiting time from order to bring food is 20 minutes on Tuesday at 6 pm.I ordered 3 sets of sushi:1. PHILLY - $17 - I like soft cream cheese, salmon was fresh, and all ingredients were combined perfectly.2. BABY YODA ROLL - $19.5 - my favorite set, so delicious, tempura shrimp was cooked ideally.3. KEWPIE IMANO ROLL - $19.5 - it was OK, it was a little bit spicy, but it wasn't problem at all.Ii was my second time here and every time it was stable quality of food and service. Thanks!“

“The manager on duty was amazing! He did a great job ensuring there would be tables available for guests who are just getting their food. It is very inconvenient and inconsiderate when patrons reserve tables before getting their food, so to have a manager who is so proactive is really attentive customer service. A++!!“

“Came back as its been awhile. Still consistent whether bento box or sushi. My fav bento is chicken teriyaki, tempura and CA roll. That was satisfying. The sushi roll was good. Just be ready to be patient as they are short staffed. Sushi chefs busy as the two older ladies are hosting, taking orders, etc. Service is pretty much order as soon as they come as one other woman she just walked by when we arrived. And the other ladies are hustling.“

“If you like tuna then try the house salad, the “black and white” dish and the “barbecue albacore” with the two sauces (3 or 5 piece) but I always get five! You will love those ;) The “pimp my roll” and the “garlic edamame” is to die for too. Mixed tempura is so yummy. The hot green tea is served in a tea pot and it is perfect. Comfort food! Now that I’m writing this review all I can think about is needing Mikunis later ;-)Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian options available!Parking: On a Friday or Saturday night be patient for parking. You can find a spot if you’re not in a hurry.Kid-friendliness: More of an adult atmosphere but most definitely kid friendly place with a great kids menu! I always see a few families dining here. Patio is very nice too.Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible but not a lot of space for a wheelchair if you ask me. It may take a little maneuvering inside the restaurant.“

“Beautiful presentation of food that well matched the taste and honestly was blown away by this small shop in the corner that I've looked over so many times headed past on my way home. The miso soup bowl was humongous, for 6$ the large really is large and well worth it. The chicken katsu was delicious and so was the beef ramen, the exact name of which escapes me. Overall very yummy food and pretty reasonable prices and I'm quite upset I haven't been here sooner.“

“We love this place! The food never disappoints! A bit pricey, but well worth it my opinion! Small inside, wouldn't accommodate a large group. We always order the gyoza & lion king wrap (in a double size). We've also ordered the sushi bakes before as well, and they too were delicious! Definitely recommend eating here!“
“tasty sushi burrito, interesting concept, no high end ingredients but still pretty good! ran in with my buddy to the commissary kitchen that has a lot of different restaurants as part of the group. Nice guys running the place, fun to talk to, decent semi-healthy lunch to grab and go!“

“The owner - Sharon is such a lovely host. The last couple of times we have gone in small to large groups she has always been helpful and taken good care of us. The quality of fish here is excellent, and consistent each time. The unfortunate part about the restaurant is one of her servers is unbelievably unprofessional and rude. He does not seem to grasp the idea of customer service. He was the very first person we experienced when we came and I was sure we'd never come back. However, the sushi and Sharon and many of the other servers are the reason why my friends and I continue to return. Coincidently, he avoids serving us because he knows we are fully aware of his lack of respect.“

“This sushi place is very near to my office. I have gotten lunch and dinner there off and on for many years now. The fish is good quality, and everyone there is so very nice. I almost always get takeout, but their restaurant is very pleasant for indoor seating, and the service is warm and friendly.Dietary restrictions: I am celiac, and they are always very accommodating with gluten-free soy sauce. They are also happy to adapt rolls for you if you ask. I usually enjoy sashimi the most so it’s not a huge issue for me.“

“Late night meal after playing bingo, and we were able to get seated at 10pm. Wide open, clean interior with plenty of booths and tables. Had no problem getting seated. Massive menu, plus there was a happy hour that cut appetizers and roll prices by a few bucks. The value was pretty good compared to other sushi restaurants in the Bay Area The tastes of the rolls and food varied. For the cooked items, they were all fairly reliable. The udon was loaded, to katsuo well fried, and tempura not bad (although odd choice of the veggies included in the mix tempura, including bell pepper). The cooked rolls were a bit heavy handed of sauces (and cheese, perhaps, on the Bob roll), and weren't too my taste, but the dragon and CA roll were good. Anything involving raw started to get inconsistent. The John roll was fantastic, but the tuna tataki had a odd sear that made the taste off-putting. Overall, the food is about average, but with the great value during happy hour and the positive staff service, I can justify coming back here again, especially for late night eats.“

“We've been going to Toyo Sushi for over 16 years, many times weekly. This is our goto sushi restaurant for many reasons- The staff is friendly. The fish is fresh. The menu has plenty of options for non-raw-fish eaters. It can get very busy especially on Friday nights so if you order to-go, as a regular, I suggest that you budget 20 more minutes on top of the time they say it will be ready. But its so worth it. The food is great! For the dine-in crowd, they have indoor and outdoor seating and do their best to accommodate larger parties.“

“The ambience is nice and servers are friendly. Soup always seems to be lukewarm, not hot. I enjoy their bento boxes. Portions are big and their sushi rolls are good. Parking can be challenging. I was a little annoyed they don't refill Iced Tea... the server said it will be full-priced. I'll pass. Their water tastes bad from the faucet. They should put a filer on tap.“

“One of my go to local Japanese restaurants. Mainly because of their Godzilla roll. I don't think I've had or seen Godzilla rolls at other Japanese restaurants and the one here is quite good. The sashimi pieces are thick. However, their rolls are on average smaller than many Japanese restaurant I've been to. The service is good. I also really like their decoration.“
“Although it stated as Japanese restaurant it's actually is a Thai restaurant serving many different kind of Thai food. One particular entree that I would not order again was a Lamb rack dish cooked with curry. The lamb meats had no taste with little meat. It was disappointing. But my other orders were quite good. I liked their salmon eggroll dipped with Thai sweet sauce.“

“Excuse my French but....THIS PLACE SO MF GOOD !! I rarely leave reviews but I had to for this one. They knew what they were doing naming this place "yummy yummy" y'all know how Keith Lee syncs into his seat when the food hits ?!? Baby that was me on the ride back to work lol. Thought I'd just get a little taste and baby I tore that trio plate up ! It was my first time so I went during their lunch time and they have an amazing lunch special. Everything is seasoned to perfection! The rice is cooked perfectly the steak butter and literally melts the chicken is tender and I've been to every hibachi in the bay and sometimes the chicken can be a bit dry but not at yummy yummy ! The veggies were even seasoned perfectly! I also got a lobster in the side and there was some garlic butter that didn't quite melt and I scooped it up with that piece of lobster meat.....orgasmic!! So happy I gave this place a try I will definitely be coming back again !!“
“The sushi is really good, all ingredients taste high quality and fresh. The plate situation is odd though, as they are stored on top of the wooden separator between every table, so they are sometimes a bit dusty. Other than that the restaurant is amazing, with really nice staff.Vegetarian options: A lot of vegetarian roll options, which my friend really appreciated“
