Fast service, seated quickly on a Friday at lunch. Not too loud despite it filling up. The seared salmon sushi was the excellent and the best of the nigiri we had (raw were just OK). The baked roll that was brought to the table on fire was good too, and definitely worth the show to order.

We changed up our sushi spot the weekend before this weekend and it was really good. I was pretty impressed how pretty the rolls looked and how delicious they were. We went all out and got an appetizer and 4 rolls. Not gonna lie, we ended up eating everything even though we felt like we were too stuffed. The inside looks nicely decorated. It's very clean and they have music playing overhead. My only complaint is that their chair wasn't comfortable. We sat on the chairs the looks like wood/bamboo and it was super hard. The chairs looked nice, but not comfortable to sit at. They had other chairs at other tables as well as booths. They had tons of tables and when we visited there were others dining in. The service was amazing. The lady that waited on us might have been the owner or a family member, but she was super friendly and our service was super fast. She wasn't in a rush to boot us out, she made our visit feel nice. We definitely will be back. The prices are pretty normal compared to other sushi spots, but they have a good lunch special where you buy 3 of their basic rolls for about $20. If you haven't visited, you definitely need to check it out.

Lunch combo was decently priced. Had Salmon Avocado, Yellowtail Jalapeño, Spicy Salmon and Spicy Tuna rolls (best by order). Their salad dressing, miso soup and spicy garlic edamame were pretty good. Clean place but smelled kind of funky.

Had an amazing experience at Kuma! Our waiter Eric did an amazing job getting answers to our questions and going over the top to give us a wonderful experience. Management is focused on great customer service and it shows with all the staff tonight. Also their vegan roll options were phenomenal! We will definitely be back!

We came here for lunch and were seated right away. Inside looked trendy with nice decor and high ceilings. I feel like it would make for a nice casual date night. Orders: Tempura (large): I'm always hesitant to order tempura at restaurants because it's easy to mess it up, but this one was great! Not too oily, not soggy. The batter on this was light and crispy. It was super hot when it came out, so be careful not to burn your mouth. Salmon lovers roll: spicy salmon and cucumber on the inside, with salmon and avocado on the outside. Delicious when dipped in a little bit of soy sauce. FlaMango roll: the favorite of the table!! Tempura shrimp and crab on the inside, with mango and salmon on the outside. I wasn't sure if I'd like the mango with rice, but it was SO good. I sorta wish we had ordered two of these. Logistically, street parking was easy. The food was a little pricey (expected for quality sushi), but it was overall a solid place for a meal. Great food with amazing service. Our server was kind, attentive, and pleasant to interact with. We will be back to try other items!

I heard a lot about this place and finally I got to visit. It turned out it just took over one of my favorite sushi restaurants in town, they have big shoes to fill. The decor is beautiful, unchanged from previous restaurant, which is a great thing. The waitress was sweet and attentive, my beer was in my hand in minutes. I ordered soft shell crab appetizer. It turned out to be a whole salad with avocado and greens. The salad was lightly seasoned, which I really appreciate. It is big enough for a whole meal probably for a petite woman, but I am not one so I ordered sushi. I asked for something with salmon, and the waitress recommended this roll in my photo. The fish is fresh, rice is good, everything was done well. I need to come back a couple times to say it filled the shoes of its predecessor, which had a 10 course omakase that was delicious but also nearly killed me and my wife (killed with being full)

This place is GREAT! Best Japanese restaurant in Bakersfield and has some Korean items, located downtown so it is accessible to lots of people who work in the area and would like something more than just an over-priced sandwich for lunch, or a proper dinner. We had the Sushi special which had so much food it would have been possible to share one order and still be very satisfied. It came with Miso soup and a copious salad. Someone gave a great deal of attention to seating, as there are tables for two and four, making good use of space and encouraging parties of four to dine. Over the years many restaurants have been at this same location and vanished, generally due to poor service and mediocre cuisine. But these folks are doing things very well and should succeed. As they are open in the evening, this is a big plus. Service was prompt and pleasant. You will not be disappointed and will want to return.

Came here for lunch yesterday and it was fabulous! Loved the ambience, customer service and food. We got the lunch specials and it was spot on. Sushi was very fresh, my daughter got an ice-cream and love it

Found this place on Yelp and wanted to try since we would be in the area on a Saturday afternoon. The decor is industrial chic and I loved it! The place was packed at about 2:30 on a Saturday, but not so much that we didn't get a table. The service was very fast and attentive. The sushi was all very fresh and unique. There were so many things on the menu I want to go back to try all of it! We had the Ponzu Yellowtail Jalapeño for a started and it was amazing. Fresh and light. Then we had the Ex-Girlfriend roll, the Best Friend Roll and the Mr. Gump's roll. They were all delicious and meticulously made. One nice little detail was that after you were done eating they brought you a palette cleanser of honeydew melon. It really hit the spot! We will definitely be back!

I enjoyed eating here during my lunch break from the hospital. I came on a weekday around 12pm, and I was able to get my food fresh and hot, within 15 min or less from ordering. I ordered from the lunch happy hour, the bulgogi bento box. It was a good amount of meat that they gave, which I was pretty happy about. All the servers were attentive and friendly. Would definitely recommend to give this place a try. Side note: I saw that they had a big table, which I feel like This place can seat a party of 10 or more on one table.

Very good food and even better service. Will definitely be going again very soon. I highly recommend the red bull sushi roll it's worth every penny. Also the edamame's are also a must try for appetizer.
