Worst service and even worse food. I'd rather get bagels at the grocery store than spend money here. They were out of the bagels I ordered and instead of asking me (while I stood in front of them waiting) they replaced them with plain bagels. Do yourself a favor and take your business anywhere else that is local!

Accidentally stumbled on this place and glad we did. Their toasted bagels with schemers hit the spot. Loved the traditional sesame, and was surprised how good the toasted jalapeño with jalapeño cream cheese was. Even my picky teen liked it.

It’s very cool that they open very early, you can have a delicious breakfast and drink hot coffee or tea! You just choose a type of bread and name whatever you like to eat?

Bagel are the best in town, we have tried many many others and Bay Area Bagels has the tastiest Bagels in San Mateo/Burlingame area. We try to avoid them because their prices are a little too pricey, however we always end up coming back when we want the Best Breakfast Bagel we ever had!!!!!

We came here on a weekend morning and beat the rush, sort of. We called to place our order around 8:30 am but they were already out of everything bagels. However when we got there it was just before a rush of people. They did have whole wheat everything, which I tried, and it was fine. The bagel tasted a little more like bread with spices on the them. They were small and missing the softness of a bagel on the inside and the crunch of the bagel on the outside. But otherwise the everything spices were pretty on point. The egg in their breakfast sandwiches was pretty good, and they were pretty generous with their bacon, almost too generous. We ordered a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich on a plain bagel, and egg and cheese on whole wheat everything, and a garlic bagel with cream cheese -- at a little over $26, it was on the pricier side. Overall we thought the bagels were fine but it's not our favorite bagel place.

After double checking with me twice that I got poppyseed with lox they gave me the wrong kind of bagel. I did not care for the texture either it felt a few days old.

Boring "cinnamon raisin" bagel with little cinnamon or raisin. Bad service while waiting to order.

I have been coming to Bay Area bagels, formerly house of bagels, for close to three decades, and while the customer service has gone progressively down hill, nothing was as bad as my experience today. They were out of half their flavors by 10:30am, and I ordered one bagel sandwich and one bagel with cream cheese and with only two orders ahead of mine it took close to twenty minutes. That wouldn't have necessarily been a problem if they were polite when asking for a timing update. When I asked the young lady up front if she could let me know how long until my order, she ignored me and then told me it was not her job. When I finally got my order, the bagels were cold, as if they'd been toasted and the forgotten. Zero out of five stars would be more appropriate.

I loved that this place seems to be family owned and run, but I have to give feedback on my burrito. They have a burrito option on the menu which has ham in it. I asked to substitute the ham w/ chorizo and I figured since it's swapping 1 meat for another, there would be no charge. But, I was charged $5 more. I figured it would be fine, until I got the burrito. First off, it took them forever to make the burrito. We were waiting for over 10 min. When I finally received my burrito it was over filled with egg and little to no chorizo. I'm not joking when I tell you I had not more than 5 bites of chorizo. I even got to the point of picking eggs out of the burrito to find chorizo to eat. It really bothered me that I was charged extra, to have that little of chorizo in my burrito. I did not try their bagels, so maybe those are better, but I would not recommend a burrito. The restaurant was clean and the staff were kind (especially the young man making and handing out the food).

Love the Bagels when they have them available. Went in the other day just before lunch and wanted a dozen plain bagels and 1/2 dozen all everything. Was told they were out of them. How can a bagel shop be out of bagels just before lunch? Has happened to me previously as well. With parking in the downtown Burlingame area so difficult due to the endless construction, I will be taking my business elsewhere.

Don’t order online, we placed order online and waited at least 30” for our 2 veggie bagels. Saw a lot of people come in and order and leave before us.

Picked not just one, but two large black hairs out of my bagel and my MOUTH this morning. Absolutely foul.
