Menu prices on here arent right , $8.95 shrimp fried rice is actually $14.95. Wouldnt have ordered if i knew! It tastes no more than $10 worth .

I would give it no star if I could. The staff are no friendly. Thank god they are no longer there. The food taste old. I order a kung pao dish and I could not see my veggies and protein because the sauce was so black, dark and thick. Portion was small for the big price tag.

I will be wearing a black armband in mourning the loss of the best Chinese restaurant I have ever been to. This was the real deal. Not chain style mediocrity.

The owners decided to retire after 32 years. I always enjoyed eating there and talking to One less good place to eat and will miss Peggy and everyone who worked there. Best of luck to them, enjoy your retirement.

The best Chinese vegetarian food in San Diego County, and a great secret that is going away. Will miss Peggy and Denny--and especially the cooking of those talented gentlemen in the paper hats. BEst of luck to the whole Overseas family. Thanks for years of great food and friendly service. When an old school Chinese place with very good food closes, it's a real loss.

You have to understand that if the skilled, experienced chefs at Overseas we're behind the scenes of a super modern-looking concept, people would never stop raving about the high-quality, authentic Chinese food. But because it has been around for 40 years and is charmingly out of date, this family-run, old school establishment can be your secret. An entire separate vegetarian menu is one of the highlights. My favorite meal there is Singapore curry noodles, vegetarian tangerine "chicken" and sautéed Chinese greens. Nothing is ever greasy or off in any way. Fresh ingredients, excellent homemade sauces. And a couple older men with clean paper hats who know their way around a wok.

Sadly we didn’t get a chance to try this place! But I thought I should share this.

Always great service and food. Tony is always our server. Great job.

Definitely looks like a retirement center Chinese restaurant with no one sitting at the tables. However we ordered to go. Kung Pow chicken was amazing. Prices were sky high. But it's in the touristy Oceanside, can't complain too much. Chefs in the back look like they love working here.

Authentic as it gets. Best kept secret in Carlsbad. Family owned and the nicest people ever. They have seen my kids grow and when we havent been in awhile, they always make sure our family is well. We have had many of the dishes and everything has been superb! If you're looking for great service and the best Chinese, don't go anywhere else.

Becky and I were visiting friends in Carlsbad. The four of us decided to have Chinese food delivered one night for dinner. Our friends' house is about a two minute drive from Overseas Restaurant and we'd had their food before so the choice was easy. I called our order in for delivery and the woman told me in a delightful broken English, Asian accent, "Delivery? I don't think so. Chinese New Year, we too busy". Fair enough. Door Dash happily delivered for $2.99. Each of us chose something different to share. We ended up with a lot of food. Egg Rolls, Orange Chicken, Shrimp Fried Rice, Kung Pao Chicken, Crispy Beef and Vegetable Egg Foo Young. My favorite was the Orange Chicken. This was not Panda Express orange chicken. This was authentic, prepared the right way orange chicken. Absolutely delicious. Becky loves Kung Pao Chicken and she especially loved this version. I was in total agreement. Very good. Perfectly spicy, generous portions of diced chicken, lots of peanuts. The Shrimp Fried Rice was very good also. More shrimp would've been nice though, I counted only four shrimp. The Crispy Beef was very good as well, once I was able to pick out all of the water chestnuts. What is it with those things anyway? Yuck! The Egg Foo Young was terrible. Let me be honest. I had never before had egg foo young and I will never have egg foo young again. It was like some sort of egg pancake stuffed with vegetables. Just awful. Our friend, however, loved it. That's fine, she can have it all! Overseas Restaurant has a huge menu. Something for everyone. The food is very good, the prices are reasonable. We'll definitely order from them again.

Another favorite of my 95-year-old father's. They have been treating him like a king here for years. Great food and solid portions. Good value and a great change from the chains. You will not be disappointed.

The food is mediocre and the waitress was plain rude. Watching the way they treat their customers and delivery guys I don’t know how they stay in business. The young waitress really surprised me at just how rude and lack of attention she gave our table.

Don't waste your time. Food is just ok and the service is horrible. Waitress acted like we weren't a priority and actually argued with about our order. This place is a joke, beware. Go elsewhere
