Matteo's Pizza & Bistro is a lovely classy restaurant that has a beautiful indoor and outdoor dining area. I especially love to come here on warm summer nights and sit outside with the hanging bulbed lights, water wall and lush vegetation surrounding the outdoor patio area. It's wicked pleasant. Their menu is a good size and they offer specials and change up dishes based on whats in season. I really like their pasta dishes especially. This visit I hot the scallops and they were summer yummy and sliced like butter. I also got to try the salmon tacos which were good and satisfying and their roasted beet salad. That reminds me, I love their salads too. They also sell wine and if there's a wait it's fun to wander around their wine display and check out the different labels. Wonderful servers too and host. Will be back;)

I originally came here 15 years ago when it opened. My friend and food photographer for the Sacramento Magazine Rachel Valley asked for my help as we photographed many of Matteo's menu items. They were all delicious. I had since moved out of the area had been unable to return. Except for today. Being in the area, I had to return to Matteo's. We were seated by a very nice waitress, and as I told her the story of when I was here last, she remembered Rachel and I being here ! I recalled how good the fried calamari was and wanted to get it again. It was EXACTLY how I remembered it before : the breading was well seasoned and the calamari was fresh. With a quick spritz of lemon, it was all my taste buds needed to enjoy this remarkable side dish. My wife had the split pea and ham soup. It was hearty and filling and served with a sliced warm loaf of wheat bread. Awesome! Then came my entree: Pan Seared Scallops on White Truffle Infused Potato Gnocchi with Wild Mushroom, Asparagus, & Tarragon cream sauce. Oh my gosh! The scallops were perfectly seared and seasoned, and were still glistening as I cut into them. The gnocchi was fresh and soft and the cream sauce topped off this meal. I highly recommend this dish. The interior of the restaurant is cozy and quaint. It's not a large room, but that adds to the ambiance. Lighting and decor is warm and inviting. They also have an extensive wine selection, and while my wife and I were unable to browse through them, I'm certain you'll find whatever wine you're looking for. Fantastic center location in the strip, Matteo's is a must for anyone that loves great tasting food.

Terrible customer service today. We go here almost weekly. I tried to order on line for pick up and everything I chose said "not available for ordering." I tried to call. It goes to voicemail and the outgoing message says to NOT leave a message as the VM is not checked. No other option was given. What the H should I do? not continue to go to Matteo's, I guess.

Great date night spot. Lots of Vegetarian options, & the chef modified a dish to make it Vegan for us.

I've only been here for the pizza but it is some of the best in Sacramento. Great ingredients in the right proportion.

Great Pizza to go. Had special needs for the pizza and it was handled perfectly. Incredible wine selection. I had to buy a few bottles when I came in to pick up the pizza. I definitely will return for more of everything. So happy to have this pizza option in Carmichael/ Arden Arcade.

Matteo's Pizza & Bistro is the quintessential Carmichael neighborhood eatery! Matteo's boasts quite the loyal following of people who appreciate good food and wine! Matteo's is, in one word, delicious! When I am craving a top notch caesar salad and pizza, this is where I land! Oh...and a great glass of something to go with it:) It is a bit of a drive for me, but it is definitely worth it! Tucked inside a busy shopping center, parking is never a problem. That is a big plus! Another Matteo's feature beloved by their clientele is the outside patio behind the restaurant! This is one of the nicest outdoor areas you will find. You are instantly transported to a quiet, relaxing, and beautiful spot to enjoy good food, drinks, and friends! Even in the hot summer, this patio remains surprisingly cool sitting under the trees. And equally inviting and popular on the gorgeous fall evenings. Time just slows down when you are here. I love the entire menu. Crab cakes are crabby:) and seasoned perfectly (photo included). It is my favorite appetizer. The menu is varied with selections that will appeal to all different appetites. And the wine list....well, how shall I explain...includes more choices than I could probably drink in a year. That is because Matteo's has a serious wine shop attached to the restaurant open to the wine loving public! That is a big woohoo for me. And it is packed with SO many interesting wines. Just ask Peter, wine consultant extraordinaire. At least that is what I call him:) We let him know what we are feeling like with what we have chosen to eat, and he returns with a bottle, and it is always perfect. You are most appreciated, Peter! No wonder Matteo's is a culinary gem. Owners Matt and Yvette Woolston have a regional "foodie" reputation acquired with years of high-end restaurant experience serving the community. They are former owners of the Supper Club, which was a long-time hotspot for customers with discriminating taste. This wife/husband team was also well-known caterers for many VIP events . I am happy to report they still cater and you can have them at your next party or celebration! Both Matt and Yvette are in-house most days overseeing everything and chatting with their customers! This cozy dining establishment is not to be missed. And there is a nice bar to relax, chill, and enjoy a leisurely drink. I know I certainly have. Do not be a stranger! Check out the menu! Or go to the website and sign up for one of the always packed wine tastings hosted in the wine shop or the beautiful courtyard! Matteo's Pizza & Bistro will become your new, favorite hang out, too! See you soon, Peter!

This meal was fantastic. The cheesey bread was so delicious. I could have just eaten that for dinner but I'm glad I didn't. The chicken Parmesan was also amazing! This isn't a budget friendly place to eat but of you're gonna splurge this place has a very unique and tasty style to it. The atmosphere is very pleasant. The outside patio is beautiful too.

I think I have been sleeping on Matteo’s pizza! We had a chicken artichoke pizza yesterday that was so good. Also sat on the patio for the first time ever despite coming here for years. We had our 20 pound mini golden doodle with us and he really enjoyed it. They were incredibly accommodating towards him. As always the food was amazing.

I just got berated for not having my credit card ready for a pick up order I was trying to place.Who the hell speaks to someone like that? Then he acted flippant when I said I didn't want to order from someone speaking to me like that.I am not a first time customer but I am a last.Talk about speed running yourself out of a customer. Here is how the entire conversation went (pretty much verbatim):I called and, after a couple rings, I got a voicemail telling me to go online to order or get details (the normal voicemail you get when someone is on the other line at a business).I call back and get through:Matteo's: Thanks for calling Matteo's how can I help youMe: I would like to put in an order for pickup.Matteo's: OK have your card ready. Can I get your first and last name?(It's weird to be pre-empted for my card when last week I ordered a pizza the same way and paid at the counter no problem)Me: Devin CareyMatteo's: What can I get for youMe: Can I get a Pepperoni PizzaMatteo's: OK I am ready for the cardMe: sure one second (I had my wallet in my hand and was pulling the card out; not that I have to explain this because it's already absurd to begin with)Metteo'S: YOU DIDN'T HAVE YOUR CARD READY! (Yes, he said it emphatically like I was a villain)Me: What did you just say to me?Matteo's: Nothing, nm, what is the card number?Me: No, what did you just say to me?Matteo's: I told you to have your card ready and you didn't have your card ready (yes he said this exact sentence to me)Me: I am not going to order from someone who would speak to me like thisMatteo's: OK cool. (then he hung up). That is how you speed run yourself out of a customer.
