“El Tapatio is a very special place indeed, and just a hop, skip, and a jump from the bigger, Central California city of Santa Maria. The fun begins when you enter and see a colorful, festive, happy place with a giant, old juke box that sits quietly at the entry, and vibrant Mexican music oom pa pa' ing loudly from the open galley kitchen. But best of all, it's the delicious smells that greet your descriminating nose. Eddie and Mimi, the dedicated, friendly owners/husband and wife team, are very proud of their little diner, as well they should be. This little cafe has been in the family since 1988, handed down from father to son in 2018. They don't take shortcuts. Each morning starts with a trip to the local market for fresh produce. And living in Guadalupe puts you right at the center of some of the finest, vast agricultural heartland you could imagine in California. It doesn't get any better for quality. Our eyes got bigger and bigger as the food rolled out. The first thing on my agenda before ordering had been to sample the chile verde sauce. It was a bright, lightly herbal tomatillo sauce with chunks of the juiciest pork I could hope for. I knew immediately things were heading in the right direction, so I ordered a chile verde enchilada. But I wanted to make this a combo because I could not resist trying the chile relleno either. The Chile Relleno was magnificent. Eddie starts with a cheese-stuffed, monster-sized pasilla chile and a delicate batter. He lightly cooks it so that platter-sized pasilla is still slightly crunchy. His salsa for the chile is homemade, made of sauteed, fresh tomatoes and onion. Wonderful, not greasy. Mr. B had eyes only for the Camarones Mojo de Ajo. What arrived at our table was a huge platter, half of it filled with medium shrimp in a generous butter garlic sauce cooked to perfection. As if the entrees were not enough to bring tears of joy to our eyes, the sides of beans and rice were superb as well. And I have to mention that the complimentary corn chips and salsas brought to our table when we sat down were our first clue that we were in for something special. Two small bowls of dip arrived, one containing their rich, authentic refried beans topped with a drizzle of verde sauce and melted white cheese, the other was a vibrant cilantro avocado sauce with a slightly spicy tang. The tortilla chips were freshly fried...they make their own. Mimi assured us that nothing is pre-made nor popped in a microwave here. There is no microwave. Easily verified, tasting was the final proof. This will be a regular stop for us when we pass through. Just make sure they are open that day. Don't waste your time in Santa Maria. I challenge you to find better, home-style Mexican cuisine than here.”

“PHENOMENAL EXPERIENCE! My partner and I saw that this place had high reviews so we decided to give it a shot. We realized there was a sign by the door that said they were closing early, so we started checking our phones for another restaurant. A staff member opened the door and said they'd be more than happy to serve us while they closed, we were shocked and asked him if he was sure, and he opened the door more to let us in. I ordered pasta and my partner ordered an omelet, BOTH were absolutely delicious and the service was so out of this world. We asked for the check while we ate since we did not want to keep them. The staff member explained that he would allow us to take our time because he didn't want us to feel rushed to eat. It was such a generous and professional gesture. I would definitely drive out here again to eat here. The service, food, and vibe is the BEST.”

“Was in town for a weekend attending an event nearby, and wanted to eat somewhere good but not too pretentious. I found Salty Brigade via Yelp and it seemed to fit the bill so I stopped by for lunch. Felt so good about it I returned a couple days later before heading back home. First time I went I had the Kalbi Tacos, which totally hit the spot. Second time I had the Steak Frites with a beer, which was the perfect wrap up to the long weekend. The steak was cooked and seasoned to my liking and paired perfectly with the fries and the beer. The staff were super chill and helpful. Both times weren't super busy or packed which is usually my preference. The decor was well thought-out (which I appreciated as a graphic designer). It was also nice there was a parking lot. My weekend trip to the area is likely an annual thing so Salty Brigade will most definitely be a part of those trips!”

“Far Western is hit or miss depending on the night and where you are seated. The bar needs another server and bar back most nights. Food is great and the atmosphere is nice.”

“Would give 5 stars, but they're not always the greatest with the toppings at this location. I'll keep coming back though! Again and again and again and again and again!”

“Food is excellent—recommend the Hawaiian Chicken or Beef. Both equally delicious. The milk tea with honey boba is also pretty good. The only downside to the joint is that every time I’ve gone, the door is open. First time that meant flies were coming in. This past time the cold breeze was coming in making it a bit too chilly to dine-in.”

“Went to Dave's hot chicken today and I was pleasantly surprised. I would say it was the best chicken sandwich I have had here in Santa Maria. The people were friendly and the price was reasonable. Plus you get plenty of food. I highly recommend this place for your next outing.”

“Found out about this place 2 weeks ago. I've been here 4 times since then. I've had the chilli cheese fries, fat boy fries, western burger, and mushroominator. All of them were really good. Good food at a reasonable price. Takes a while to get your food but that's because they make it to order. The girl who takes your order could be more... energetic? ... welcoming? but the cooks who deliver your food have always been super cool. I'll definitely be back again.”

“Papa Napoli's Italian Deli is hands down the best Italian deli on the Central Coast. Not only are they family-owned, but also all of their family works there. The staff are passionate about what they do and offer the highest quality meats, cheeses and toppings for your sandwich. Their Italian dressing is absolutely delicious!I always order the Papa's Combo, Pastrami Sandwich or Meatball sandwich. If I order the Papa's Combo, I get the dressing on the side because I like to use a lot on my sandwich.Everything I've ever ordered here is delicious and fresh. I crave these sandwiches weekly and absolutely love this place. Don't miss your opportunity to try their amazing sandwiches and meet the family behind this amazing deli.Parking: Parking can be difficult to find due to the many businesses within the shopping center.Wheelchair accessibility: Ramps are near the entrance to the deli making it easily accessible.”

“Really really really good. I love coming here to eat and for take out. My wife always gets the nachos with fresh pico and I'll generally stick to a burrito. I attached a photo of my finished burrito (was planning on taking a picture of it before but it looked and tasted so good that I ate it all before remembering to snap a quick pic)”

“Alright..... today i find myself in Vandenberg village. Better known as the "nice part" of Lompoc. This taco place has some good food! I had a #6 and also got an extra taco. Everything was delicious, but my only complaint was the portions were a little small. For 17$ i should be full and uncomfortable. The tacos are smaller than a taco bell taco, so keep that in mind when ordering. The order came out fast and the service was friendly! I usually eat in my truck, so i didn't get too much time inside, but it looks like a typical taco place. Some booths and some outside seating. I will eat here again!!! If you like Mexican food and are stuck at the SFB, i say give this place a shot!”

“My choice pick for Mexican food in Santa Maria. I highly recommend the Fajitas plate(Either Steak, Chicken, or Combo) as these are simply fantastic. I did enjoy the Ceviche and I myself, are not the biggest fan of the dish itself; however the one done here is refreshing and great before consummation of the main dish that you order! Other things I enjoyed were the tacos(classic staple, right), specifically the asada and pastor are the go-to tacos that I've tried.”

“I have come here for several years worth of office lunches and have always received great service and good food. The serving staff have always been not just helpful but delightful people. The food is typically out pretty quickly and it's rarely difficult to find seating for a large group if you go early in the lunch period. The servings of food are decently large and the food is good. I'm already a fan of the diner vibe, but this place has always done even better. Their cross cut fries are excellent and crispy, their sandwiches are all very good, and their breakfast items are super filling. Definitely add this to your list of restaurants to try while you're in the area.Parking: The parking lot's never really been full so you shouldn't run into any issues finding parking near the restaurant. The last time I went it had been a while since the parking lot had been redone, so it can be a bit difficult at times to gauge where the parking spaces are actually supposed to be.”

“We were on our way to Paso Robles from Los Angeles and needed lunch. This is a great area with a lot of solid choices. Wife saw Urbane Cafe as an option and I've eaten at another location before. We ordered the cilantro chicken salad and the tomato bisque soup and salad combo with 2 cookies and drinks. Food was excellent. Staff was friendly. There's limited indoor seating but options outside. Drinks are serve yourself and not standard choices. Cookies were delicious too. A great choice for a meal!”
“I was at Lark & Sparrow the night of one of the reviewers who gave them a poor rating. Let me tell you- that group of customers were absolutely nightmare patrons! They were LUCKY the police were not called on them! I'm so beyond proud of the staff and owners for all that they bring to our community and making a place that we can go to and feel safe and free to enjoy ourselves! They are the BEST!!!”

“The Menu at The Green Olive is a Tour of Greek DelightsWhile the atmosphere at The Green Olive transports you to a charming Greek taverna, it's the menu that really wows and highlights the incredible flavors of Greek cuisine. With such an extensive selection of classic dishes and specialties, it's hard to know where to begin. For entrees, the kebab platters are a must. The Filet Mignon Beef Kabob features incredibly tender and flavorful marinated beef. The Kofta Kabob with its spiced ground beef mixture is equally delicious. But the real star may be the Chicken Kabob - the all-white chicken breast is marinated overnight in herbs and spices that pack a flavor punch. If you prefer your proteins off the skewer, go for the Gyro Platter. The sliced gyro meat is cooked rotisserie-style and has that beautifully crispy exterior while staying moist and tender inside. Be sure to dip it into the cooling tzatziki for the ultimate flavor combination.Vegetarians and vegans absolutely should not miss the Falafel Platter or the Vegetarian Platter. “Such a wonderful place to drop in and get a smoothie. I've tried a couple different smoothies, and they have all been very fresh tasting and very nice and cold. I usually get this delivered and I can contest that the smoothies hold up to being delivered. They don't get watery or melted at all, which was really nice. Their yogurt bowls are delicious. If you want some yogurt, fruit honey, the yogurt is always tasty. They add a nice amount of honey and the fruit is always fresh. I've only been inside a few times, but the establishment is always nice and clean and the employees have always been super welcoming. They answered all of my questions and you are not waiting too long for anything that you order. Definitely a place to check out.”

“It's not my usual dinner stop, but the food was excellent and so was the service. The ambiance is that of an old western/ranch theme, the only part that I wish had been better was the long wait to be seated. If you like 3 course style meals, and taking drives, this is the place for you.”
