As of now, you need a reservation to dine here because of COVID and limited seating, but its very easy to text them and they respond very fast. I've been dining here for many years and they were a favorite of ours during the covid quarantining. I love their chicken/tori nanban. Their omakase is also really delicious and the sashimi was very fresh so I think it is worth the money. It came with a good variety of cooked and raw dishes.

Don't expect usual omakase here, $80 omakase with few pcs of sashimi and unknown food... i would pay more for better food and service at better place.

I am immensely grateful to find authentic Japanese food here in the area. the flavors were delicate and beautiful. There is grace in how the dishes are put together & the price is very reasonable. I hope everyone can come out to try geko tei :) They will take u on an amazing trip & pamper your palate. I have to go on a bend and say- I will never settle for less and step foot in the other "Japanese restaurants" in Cerritos again. Those places are serving animal feed in comparison.

Chirashi was decent, tempura was ok. Agedashi tofu was delicious. I thought the reservation system was pretty good and received a fast response.

Walked in because my kids were craving miso soup. We have patron here before and service was average but the food was delicious. However today we walked in to a half empty restaurant (mind you it's tiny) and said they only serve reservations. I don't see anywhere on Yelp where it serves reservations only. Then I asked if my small child could use the restroom quickly and the owner rudely brushed his arm and said no, it's for paying customers. I can't pay if you won't serve me. Unfortunately they lost me as a customer.

Amazing experience as expected. Quality of the sashimi was comparable to the sashimi in Japan. The horse mackerel (aji) whole sashimi had a touch of sesame oil and ginger so wonderful. They took the bones and fried them so crispy they could be eaten whole, to the delight of the whole table. Chawanmushi was smooth and wonderfully fluffy. Tip: our arthritic 80 year old grandma came with us- you might want to request the normal tables if you bring your elderly or disabled. We were sat at a Japanese style table where you take off your shoes and have to maneuver your feet under the raised table on tatami. Needless to say, grandma almost didn't make it.

Ist impression is pretty good.It has table, sushi bar, and tatami seating. Reservation is a must via text message. They will take it, confirm it, and send the menu of the day back.Ordered the Omakase, chef's choice of the day based on a simple menu. To our surprise, the chef replace the salad with other side dishes, such as the miso soup. which are just perfect. I don't think anyone should complain that the salad is missing ?The chef walked the extra mile in preparing his signature Omakase, especially the appetizer... must try.Thumbs up. A big hole on the wall.

This place is ridiculous. Makes up fake CDC rules about how you can't wait inside. I was masked and made a reservation as they asked. I kindly asked the staff to show me which CDC guidelines they were referring to. I'm a pretty experienced and understanding diner but that was a new one. Because it doesn't exist. They told me to wait outside per the fake CDC rules they couldn't find or cite. In the cold. With no chairs or areas to wait. According to a rule that doesn't exist. There were two parties, one which left. So can't make the claim that it was crowded, etc., which would make sense. Nope, just rude, lying staff. They then canceled my reservation after being unable to locate said CDC rules and requirements. Trust me, I've eaten here before pre-COVID and the food is not good enough to warrant such arrogance and ignorance. Get over yourself Geko Tei. Be respectful and honest with your customers.

Brought a friend to try out their Omakase. Totally worth it. So so so good. Can't tell you how many the plates were but they kept coming and I was stuffed. Love the quiet tatami ambience. Service was great. You have to make a reservation via text or via IG.

The place is such a hole-in-the-wall place with some solid food. They also have daily specials so others can try something new when they visit. Don't forget to call/text to make reservations first! Chicken Kara-age - Probably my favorite & the most worth the money! Fillet Katsu - The meat felt really tight and it was a little drier than usual. Agedashi Tofu - This really reminded me of the Chinese dish that was tofu with soy sauce. I thought this was okay for $6. Wagyu Beef Tataki - Pleasantly flavorful (would not order again for $18) Oyster Ponzu - Probably my least favorite because it did have quite a fishy taste to it. Overall, I enjoyed the meal, but probably will be trying other places when I'm in the area!

This place is fantastic. I used to come in late night for ramen a few years ago but they've changed the restaurant layout and menu since then and it's incredible. First off, you must make a reservation. It's very easy, you text their number and submit your request and they'll message you back. The place is very small so it's a must. They have table seating, bar seating, and tatami seating. The tatami is my favorite! Sometime I want to try seating at the bar so I can see the chef work, he's wonderful and the plates he puts out are beautiful. Anyways onto the food... We always order a few skewers, I highly recommend the beef tongue. The oyster ponzu is huge and a bright start to your meal and you have the option to add uni and roe if you're feeling decadent. The chawan mushi was excellent on a colder night, I recommend that as well. But the highlight of our meal was the sumi ika or the squid sushi. It was so tasty that we ordered it 2 more times during our dinner...still obsessed. The only thing they didn't nail was the clay pot but that was ok because the salad, soup, and house made tofu made up for the lack of sizzle and crispy rice the clay pot didn't have. The soup oh my was so tasty they must use bonito bones in their broth as well this is not your standard soup it's made with love!! I love that the menu changes with the season and availability of products so it's always exciting to see what new menu item they're offering. Lowkey I can see this place eventually making their way towards a Michelin star if they continue in this direction. You can sense the care and love chef puts into his work. If you love Japanese food, especially seafood, this place is wonderful.

Love their Uni Ikura don when they have it. Overall they have great, tasty homemade Japanese food.

From the exterior, this place looks no different from a hole-in-the-wall, but from the quality of chirashi, you can tell it's legitimate! From the sushi (rice), ikura, uni, tamago, and sashimi, I was impressed with the perfect balance of flavors. Today was one of those rare instances where I actually finished all the rice in my chirashi because it was simply delicious. Hats off to the chef for having the perfect formula down for the sushi (rice). So so important. The only reason I'm giving my experience four stars out of five is because the sashimi cuts today were little disappointing. Perhaps I had gotten my hopes up too much prior to coming.. Personally, I like fatty cuts, but only one piece of sashimi was my favorite. The rest: I was given two pieces each, and were pretty average.. tuna and mackerel were probably my least favorites out of them all bc of their fishy smell. I'll be back to update my review when they bring back Hokkaidon because it's got alll my favorites in it :) also can't wait to try the eel clay pot rice as well as beef tongue.. yumm ;)
