“If you look up local family diner in the dictionary, this place would be the example! Awesome to see multiple customers hugging servers and staff as they enter and leave! I sat at the counter immediately and food was out in minutes! Waffle was good. Service was quick. In and out about 30 minutes! Wish I lived closer, as this would be my go-to diner!“
“Facility is clean and new. Food was ok. Expectations are low for kiddie places. The play areas are clean but not too much toys. Some of the pretend play kitchen area toys were broken but kids improvised and still had fun with their friends.“
“I only been here for breakfast. I ordered the veggies omelet and comes with avocado. Most places charge extra. They have a salsa bar and they bring fresh chips to your table. On the weekends they have a live band. “This is a great little diner with a very friendly owner and staff who make you feel welcome and part of the family! They are also able to accommodate different dietary restrictions, which I really appreciate as someone with limited safe options.Dietary restrictions: They have gluten free bread and buns, so they are able to make french toast, sandwiches, and burgers safe for me!“
“Been going to Penny's since it was on Hacienda & Maplegrove (bout 25 yrs ago) Hadn't been in a while Had steak & eggs with HOUSE POTATOES and it was all so tasty & delicious!! Waitess was nice but seemed new. The only drawback was she seemed to get busy with a couple of other tables and didn't come back to our side for most of our stay. Waited for coffee refill until I was done with my food. Only one more person behind the counter. Overall a good experience based on the food...and that amazing house salsa!“

“This place truly is a gem. Basic fundamentals of a good restaurant: good people and good food. I want to keep this short as possible but so much that needs to be said about this place. This place is literally the representation of the American dream. I grew up in this neighborhood since elementary, left into my twenties all over the place. I was originally looking for a quick bite at Maria's Bakery down the street but they were closed. Decided FINALLY try this place on a whim. Me and my buddy always told each other we would try it out one day but man ... if I had known such great people were running this place, I would have came sooner. Me being Asian American myself and in the restaurant industry... I felt it the moment I stepped foot inside... Best way to sum it up is "Real recognize Real". You can tell that they really love what they do and they do it well. It's something special to keep a place going for 77 years. Most restaurants now outsource products from big companies, everything pretty much tasting the same... but the moment I tried my food, I can tell a lot of it is done the old fashioned way. The beef for the sandwich, the pickles, the peppers ... does NOT taste like anywhere else. I've never been to Philippe's in LA but I would probably safely assume this can go toe to toe with them no question! Beef dip gravy you can tell made from the drippings and not purchased from SYSCO and the coleslaw was well balanced. Simon and Margarette really make the place what it is, a true mom and pop Asian American owned Restaurant with the heart and soul of Los Angeles food culture for what it was, is and should be!“
“Clearman's Galley, known locally as "The Boat", is a must-visit eatery. While you can order anything on the menu, the can't-miss items are their delectable cheese bread and fantastic salad. If you leave without trying these signature dishes, you haven't truly experienced The Boat. Despite the bustling atmosphere, this is a wonderful place to dine.“
“Went In before 12pm and got 2 carnitas burritos because they were on the lunch menu. I was worried because alot of the customers in the restaurant were almost all elderly. Usually restaurants like this are subpar, but I was wrong. The burritos were really good. Will definitely come back. Just wish the restaurant was open after 3pm.“
“Family-owned Mexican restaurant off the beaten path. I saw a post from the owner’s son encouraging people to come to his dad’s restaurant and wanted to support a small business. Ordered takeout via the phone and the food was ready ~25 minutes later. They do have an outdoor patio available for dine-in as well. There’s a large tv indoors right by the counter and it’s a very homey vibe. They do take credit cards. Parking is easy since it’s in a strip mall. In terms of the food, the portions are enormous. The menudo was hearty and piping hot. The super burrito (we made it wet for an extra $1.25) was split between my sister and I, and we were stuffed after eating it. The al pastor meat inside was tender and they cooked the cilantro in the burrito, which was different than what I typically see. They put a generous proportion of meat and the amount of rice/beans served to enhance the burrito, rather than try to cover up for a lack of meat as some other places do. The carne asada nachos had pretty thin chips and towards the end, it was mostly beans. Overall a very filling and enjoyable meal that came out to be under $30 for a family of four.“
