We went here for a birthday and they had enough seating for our group of 8. I ordered the Mackerel Saba. It was perfect. They had plenty of roll options for us to try and they also had yakisoba on the menu, which my family loved.

Very, very good miso soup (best in the valley, in our opinion). This has a bit more traditional vibe especially with the sushi selection so if you're looking for goofy-named rolls that are deep-fried and loaded with cream cheese this isn't the place (though we really love that place too ). Kajima's is a peaceful environment, with polite and fast service, and excellent food. A real secret gem sushi place

Kijima is easily one of the best Japanese restaurants I've eaten in a while. Right off the bat, the atmosphere is warm and inviting while remaining calm and quiet. Our server was amazing! She was incredibly friendly throughout the entire meal and really made us feel welcome there. And the food was superb! I ordered a combination lunch plate with teriyaki steak and shrimp and veggie tempura. The steak was cooked perfectly and was amazingly tender. It was served alongside a small dish of teriyaki sauce which meant you could season your meat the way you wanted to. The tempura was cooked perfectly and had an excellent crunch to the batter. My dining partner ordered the pork katsudon and raved about it to me afterward, saying it was better even than they could make. I'm already planning a return trip to Kijima. If you're fond of good Japanese food and you're looking for a pleasant lunch spot, try stopping by Kijima.Vegetarian options: Kijima seemed to have a decent selection of vegetarian items on their menu.Parking: The parking is a little difficult. There are approximately four spots directly in front of the restaurant with another four around the side of the building.

Service was really great but food was quite sad. $25 for 6 small pieces of steak, the sashimi tasted like it had been left out for a few hours, and the chicken wings were chewy.

Don't be fooled by the simple decor...Our sushi was delicious and so was their teriyaki chicken and tempura. I also recommend the baked mussels. The owners were extremely gracious amd had a great sense of humor. ?

I wasn't even there for food I was parking for a business connected to this one, it's a shopping center. A man working there who was standing outside was super rude right away and said I needed to park elsewhere, no signs said I couldn't park there so I was confused and then he went off on me more so. You shouldn't be working in a restaurant if you can't learn how to be polite.

Very simple dishes but done decently. Portions felt lacking for price on certain dishes but generally a good experience.

A Buddy of mine from Japan took me here. Said it was what reminded him of home. It was an awesome experience. Great quality and a variety of sake options

A hidden gem in Fresno for good Japanese food in a casual setting. They also have a separate room for small parties up to 20 people which was perfect for our family reunion.

Small restaurant, with. Big taste! I love the Ebi katsu (shrimp deep fried with panko flakes). After a small bite of nice crunchy panko, the shrimp just melts in your mouth. Prices are decent and with all the local competition Japanese chains this one is a gem.

Delicious lunch. I forget about this place. They have excellent food. This is the Chicken Teriyaki and Tempura. And the Teriyaki Salmon. It came with soup and salad also. We also had a California roll. Everything was delicious! Definitely going to have to go back.

My family and I have been coming here for years. And it has always been solid fare. We took a break from restaurants during Covid, but now dining out again. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent meal I had at Kijima last week, most notably the fish. Honestly, here in Fresno, all the sashimi tastes the same to me... mediocre, tasteless. Not like in NYC or the Bay Area where I've had plenty of good sushi. But here at Kijima's, my wife ordered the sashimi dinner, and I could tell right away this was good fish. I ended up sampling some of hers, and then ordering more for us. The salmon, mackerel, yellowtail, clam, and more were simply delicious, with that velvety texture and buttery aftertaste. Yum! Anyways, I came back again tonight and had another great meal. Sashimi was great again. I got the katsu curry pork over rice and it was excellent. It was perfectly cooked, and tasted homemade! I was very surprised, as before Covid, it tasted more like your run of the mill curries. We've also tried the Hamachi Kama, which isn't on the menu, but was very good too. And, this place is perfect for kids. It's quieter than those huge sushi/teppanyaki places. Not as busy. So, two excellent meals in a row. Kijima gets 5 stars in my book. Come give them a try. You won't regret it.

Not sure why they do not get more love on yelp. Our favorite Japanese place in town. The service is personal and they even remember exactly what my daughter wants. The food is high quality and consistently great. The tempura is perfectly battered and crispy. The chicken teriyaki is moist and slightly crispy on the outside, the perfect combo. I have to admit my favorite part is the macaroni salad, reminds me of plate lunches in Hawaii.
