Experience Coalinga's Mexican food at these fantastic spots.
“This place has amazing food!! We stopped here on our trip from SF to LA and then back from LA to SF because it was so good! The carne asada torta was phenomenal and the adobada taco was great as well! Our favorite thing here were the tamales! They are some of the best tamales we have had in years!! Both the pork and cheese tamale were FANTASTIC, but our favorite was the cheese tamale! It was soo good!! We will always be stopping here for food when taking road trips through California! If you are reading this review and thinking of eating here, you won't be disappointed if you go here for food!!“
“We were in town to dig up some gems and took a chance on what has to be the best comida de Mexico this side of San Diego!! Lawd, drove up and noticed the hours - open at 4 am on weekdays. They're feeding the people if they're up that early. I got a carne asada burrito w/ salsa rojo, plus a chorizo taco (I suspected I would greatly enjoy this place while perusing the menu and as usual I was right) and some pre-made flan. We dragged our dinner back to the hotel (the aromas coming out of that bag made it a long mile) and proceeded to chow! My son got carnitas tacos (his barometer for comida) and reports great successes! I don't know anything about the demographics of Coalinga, CA but they do have at least one great place to eat.“
“Stopped on a long road trip from Oregon to Ventura and needed dinner. Found this place listed on yelp and the review were good so we decided to stop. It is AMAZING!! Every positive review was totally true - the service is great, super friendly and welcoming, the food was delicious and the place was totally clean. Will definitely come back here again the next time we are passing through.“
“Great tasting food. Had the "Gus Special". Yum!. Try it sometime. You won't go wrong. Huge burrito. It has shrimp n Carne asada then some. Just say-"I want the Gus Special. I'm going back that's for damn sure. Getting hungry thinking about it. Great job to cooks.“
“Found this spot after gem mining. I was hectic about it at first because it looks like a beat up place from the outside. When walking in, all you see is old tables and chairs, the cartons of the sodas, and big fans. When ordering is like you are ordering from those taco stands in the streets.Don't be fooled about what I just wrote because what matters is how good the tacos were. I tried the carne asada, cabeza, lengua, and tripas, and to me they were sooo good. They had flavor and the tacos were full of meat. I normally eat 4 tacos. So I ordered 4 and was only able to eat 2 because how big they were. This is my go to place when traveling on the I-5, since it's only a 10 mile detour from the highway. Plus they are open for 24 hours every day.“
“I came here for lunch and everything was great. I ordered the chicken burrito lunch special. It was great and the chicken had great flavor. The beans and rice were both cooked perfectly. Also, I like their chips and salsa. The service was fantastic here.“
“Very happy! I had the guacamole Impossible burrito and it was delicious! Alondra was very friendly and helpful. Next time I'm in the area I'll come back.If you haven't tried it yet I encourage you to try the Impossible burrito as it tastes just like real beef except for no cow had to be bolted in the skull and stabbed in the throat.“
“definition of fast food! no line on Monday afternoon & they cranked out my order in minutes! there's always a new creation to try - the crispy chicken taco w avocado ranch was surprisingly good (or I was just too hungry lol)Vegetarian options: can't go wrong w rice & bean burritos and their potato soft tacos!“
“Small place but Big on taste [Coalinga CA]If you think Coalinga is all about Harris Ranch you should drive further in to town and try the food at Taqueria Gonzalez. Indoor dining room was a modest size but they have outdoor seating as well. The restaurant is counter-service so we placed our order with the friendly (and patient) young gal as we browsed through the wall menu quickly. We chose an Asada Burrito and Asada Fries. We found an open table and before we could say "birria" our order was being served to us. The burrito was a generous size so the hubby and I split it. The radish, jalapeño, fried onions and hot sauce were served on the side. For drinks I got my favorite, the Jamaica, and hubby chose the horchata. We also shared the asada fries. French fries loaded with beans, roast beef, mozzarella cheese, pico de gallo and topped with a jalapeño. That was enough to get me full. When we think of Coalinga we think of Harris Ranch steak and cattle farm... and you'll know when you hit Coalinga by the smell. We did not go for a ribeye steak this time but we still had some kind of meat in the form of a steak burrito and steak fries ("asada" is beef) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯Review #3219“
