My family and I have always come here since we were kids, and even longer since my parents first dated. The food is wonderful and the restaurant owners are so kind. Great food, atmosphere, and truly a wonderful experience. We always get the new style sashimi, tamago (and it's the best), and other sushi. Their tempura rolls are wonderful. :)

? ? Do yourself a favor, Seared Peppered Salmon.....It's not on the menu, but it's life changing and you'll thank me for it later! Holy cow! Don't let the run down shopping center fool you, or maybe even the lack of anyone else in there, this spot is amazing! My wife and I are creatures of habit, so we know for sure that the Rainbow Roll is great, the YellowTail is amazing and the spicy tuna is spot on! But the Seared Peppered Salmon ??

Beef skewers are pretty good and anikimo was okay. Nevertheless, they have a decent selection a bit on the pricey side. I probably would not dine here again.

The place is small and unassuming, situated in a strip mall in suburbia, California, but it definitely accomplishes it's goal. The service is phenomenal, the food is fresh, and expertly prepared. My one tiny criticism is that the plating (particularly the plates themselves) are a bit dated. But beyond that, an amazing dining experience that beats quite a lot of the DTLA restaurants I've overpaid for in the past. I highly recommend their full 7-course omakase. The courses are prepared thoughtfully, and both the chef and the server(s) enthusiastically take you through an experience that celebrates Japanese cuisine. ($120pp)

We came here for our family Christmas dinner. Each of us ordered the "Omakase" Chef's choice 7-course (appetizers, halibut, sea bass, prawns, sushi, seafood soup, & dessert). Everything was very fresh and flavorful. Each dish had a great presentation and everything tasted delicious. My favorite was the sliced halibut. It melted in the mouth and was very fresh. Customer service was outstanding. Staff introduced all the dishes, refilled water glasses without being asked, and cleared table quickly after each dish. We'll definitely be back!!!

AUTHENTIC JAPANESE GEM SUSHI SPOT We only eat at the REAL sushi restaurants, they're usually Japanese owned and serve the freshest highest quality sushi sashimi. Hayakawa is it! Everything I've tried is delicious! You usually find places like this in LA or Torrance so to have it in West Covina is a treat! Enjoy!

Omg omakase here is so so good!! My date made dinner reservations for us but we honestly could have gotten seated without reservations since there was only one other party seated besides us when we came in. There's 7 rounds for the omakase but it literally left like the perfect amount of food when we've done. We paired our meal with hot sake and it tasted so smooth but hit really fast for me. My photos honestly couldn't do the food justice here but definitely worth coming to try! The service here is also really friendly and there's tons of parking since it's in a plaza.

Service was good Yelpers but way overpriced. The sushi was just ok and nothing worth the price I paid. I guess for Covina it gets the high rating but I will not return... let me know what you think. So let it be said... So let it be written.

this is hands down the best sushi restaurant I have been to between California and Mexico. Kazu and his wife have crafted in my opinion the finest dining experience in town and the food is outstanding. I go for lunch and dinner and If I could show self control I would probably eat there once or twice a week. price dramatically changes whither you drink or not, and I usually have a bottle of cold sake. Also if you are planning on going on the weekend would recommend a reservation.Kid-friendliness: kids are welcome but it is a quite dining setting for the most part.Parking: plenty of parking.

The BEST! Had omakase. Made a second reservation at the end of our first visit. Can't wait to go back.

My boyfriend made reservations for us at Hayakawa last Friday evening. He ordered the dinner omakase for us. This came with a variety of small dishes and dessert at the end. Check out my photos!! Overall, my experience was amazing. The food was 10/10. Service 10/10, Quality of food 10/10. Company 20/10. In the future, we plan to visit again to try the sushi dinner omakase.

HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS PLACE EXISTED UNTIL LAST NIGHT! Wowwww, so happy to find a new sushi spot. For starters, as soon as you walk in, it feels a bit fancy. Not traditional Japanese per se, but both my partner & I concluded we got old Italian restaurant vibes turned Japanese. It's kinda charming! We ordered the miso cod dinner-- this was soooo freaking good. Two generous portions of fish that came with soup, salad, a noodle soup, potato salad, rice and some noodle thing. This was soooo so good. I loved the skin! And then for sushi we ordered: Peppered salmon 10/5. We get peppered salmon everywhere we go and this was hands down, by far, the best we've ever had! So buttery and melt in your mouth. Spanish mackerel 5/5. I've never had this before but it was soooo good. So smooth and had a really good flavor. Scallop 4/5. Solid-- not the best I've ever had since I usually like the big scallops since they're sweeter. These were a bunch of baby scallops with mayo or some sauce. It was good Tamago 5/5. Huge pieces. I actually didn't eat this but my partner said it was realllllly good. We wanted to order more but we're pretty stuffed. The cod dinner was pretty filling. They also had Mille cake but we hope to get that next time.
