I am honored to be one of Jim's original customers when he was on Culver Bl. The food at Santa Maria BBQ is outstanding. The tri tip is authentic. The chicken is extraordinarily moist and seasoned to perfection. And, the beans are so good!!! Really!Jim is a great chef and a pillar of the community. I approve! Chief

Jim catered a milestone bday party I hosted for my husband. Referred by long time customers who have eaten there for years. From the initial contact to the day of, Jim was very responsive, easy to go over the food and timing (first time catering at my house) and just made the whole process seamless. The pricing was very reasonable and he added extras for good luck. The food was 100%- all my guests raved about the tri tip, ribs and chicken, as well as the sides. Thank you so much Jim and John for making it an unforgettable event! I highly recommend.

I can't tell you how many times I drove past this place, caught a glimpse of the "BBQ" sign and got all excited only to find out they were closed. But, instead of leaving them an undeserved 1-Star rating, I made a mental note of their business hours and carried on until one day last week, I realized I was in the area and it was before 3pm. I drove up, found parking on the street right in front, and wished I had taken a look at their menu before I got to the window to order. I was pretty hungry, which is never a good idea, but the woman at the window was very helpful. I new I wanted baby back ribs but I wanted to try more of what they had so I would know for next time what to get a lot of. She suggested the sample platter with tri-tip, baby backs and chicken. I'm not normally a big chicken fan but I didn't want to ask to substitute anything as I know a lot of places will give you a hard eye roll just for thinking about it. So I went with that and I chose the coleslaw for my side. You know if the coleslaw is good, the BBQ is going to be good. She asked if I wanted their regular or spicy BBQ sauce on the side (I like that they put the sauce on the side and offer the meat as it was cooked. A lot of places will drown their meet in sauce which potentially hides what some might consider a poorly prepared meat. This place was confident in the quality and taste of their meat and leave it up to you to add more flavor on top of the flavor in their meats.) I decided to get a little of each since I can't eat super spicy stuff like I use to. But their spicy sauce was just the right amount of heat and excellent flavor. I decided to take my order home with me but I got that coleslaw out before I got to the first light. Man! I almost turned around to go back and get more. I wish I had! I finished it before I got home and grabbed a piece of tri-tip just before pulling in the driveway. Oh, man! No sauce and so tender and flavorful! The ribs were on point and I even liked the chicken. I will say that I would've like the chicken skin to be more crispy (I'm a big texture person, nothing wrong with the chicken, just my personal preference) but the meat was fantastic. I've been thinking about this place ever since. Their price points are what you would expect and for the quality, they could probably stand to charge more, I just wouldn't be able to afford it. I wish BBQ wasn't so expensive but I'm saving up for another visit because I will be back. I might even go back sooner, just for the coleslaw!

After years of not knowing what happened to the once loved corner BBQ restaurant in Culver City, I found Jim (the owner) again! To my surprise he had been in the area the entire time and still caters. So I decided to hire them for our catering event today. They showed up prompt, professional and kept the area tidy at all times! The set up was great, I didn't even expect everything that was provided so that made the event even better. From the juicy tri tip that just melted in my mouth, to the moist chicken that I could taste a hint of smokiness, the food was on point!! The potato salad and veggie beans were perfect side orders. I do regret not ordering some of that tasty rice I remember eating @ their restaurant. The salsa was mild enough and when mixed in with the BBQ sauce, these condiments just pulled the entire dish together!! I came to find out my neighbors could smell the good cooking blocks away and wondered where it was coming fromEveryone at the party had nothing but great things to say about the delicious food and how friendly Jim and his side kick were. I will definitely keep them in mind for another catering event. Extremely satisfied with the service and delicious food and these days that's become a difficult thing to find and say! Job well done

There is NO BETTER catering concern in Los Angeles than Santa Maria BBQ..! If you're a Company ( Church, Members Club, Corporation), or you just wish to entertain family and friends, you can't go wrong. Prices are competitive for this region and in many cases they're much lower. They also have grilled vegis and can accommodate the most picky or demanding palate.....

This is the top of the line Barbecue is West Los Angeles. One of my best friends live in this neighborhood and when i visit, We always through a barbecue. 4 of us got together and through a nice little get together kind of catering thing. I love the Spare Ribs with juicey red barbeq sauce. Meat is so tender, It falls or melt inside your mouth. My first time here, They come here frequently. Side orders are good too, Just like the real Santa Maria barbecue. Love this place, I hope we can get together often and make a good barbecue party.

Ribs were well seasoned and the mild and spicy sauces were loaded with delicious heat.

The ribs were cooked to perfection and the spicy and mild sauces added delicious flavor. I like the fact that the ribs were so well seasoned. The beans were fantastic but the grilled veggies were my favorite. I used to frequent this restaurant least twice a month when they were located on Washington. I'll try the tri-tip next. Wish they had pulled pork on the menu as well. All in all, very satisfying BBQ.

Ordered the Santa Maria meal for a group of us. Wasn't very good at all. All the meat tasted like liquid smoke. And made us all feel kind of nauseous after a few bites. Just didn't taste good. Also, everything was a bit dry and over cooked. Don't think I'll eat here again.

Amazing local BBQ place with delicious food and friendly staff. I had the tri tip sandwich and hubby had the Joe's special sandwich. We shared a side of beans as well. The tri tip is tender and full of flavor. The sandwich bread held together the entire time, even when I dunked it in their spicy BBQ sauce. The beans have a lovely smokey taste to it which complements the meat perfectly. Hubby truly enjoyed his sandwich as said he'd be back again for the same. The lady that took our orders was super friendly. It's just around the corner from us so we'll definitely be back again!
