“This place is absolutely above any of my imagination and expectations - I’m not very young and I like burgers - tonight I had the best burger of my life hands down!It’s juicy, flavorful, big, meaty, dripping and absolutely delicious in every bite. The wings are amazing as are the fries and the sticky bun - the bun needs its own restaurant!And something else - the people are great - Andrew was awesome, just family atmosphere all around in the kindness of the Midwest really.I’m all out of words of praise but this is worth any drive. I would give the burger a Michelin star!“

“This place is amazing! I ate here every night while I stayed at the Inn. I can’t even wrap my head around how amazing the food is. My background is in cuisine. So, I can confidently say that Sarah is a genius. Duck ragú, Peruvian chicken, braised ribs, braised lamb shank, Caesar salad….wow. I wanted to try everything on the menu. I still do. “Absolutely love this gorgeous space; a true secret of the north state. We never miss a chance to spend time here even if we are just stopping through. The space feels like a complete getaway or vacation with its warm inviting atmosphere and I can't describe it but you instantly relax when you enter the town of McCloud. The staff is lovely, Jessica was very thorough with the menu and made sure our glasses were always full. We also had the pleasure of meeting chef Jules who was so kind and humble even though his food was absolutely out of this world. Everything is fresh and perfectly flavored, I wish I had taken a photo of the food but to do so would have been to ruin the experience that is the Axe and Rose Pub. We started the meal with the potato latkes and had the Buddha Bowl and the Duck Confet Burger. If you have the opportunity please stop in, you will not be disappointed.“

“Absolutely great food here. We went for breakfast today and it was fantastic. It was so good we even went back for dinner tonight. The Szechwan wings were crispy on the outside, moist inside, and the sauce was amazing. My girlfriend had the Pad Thai which had the best flavor. I lived in Thailand for five years and had great Thai food, but this Pad Thai was extremely flavorful and unique. Definitely eat here while in town, you’re missing out if you don’t.“
