“Go here. Visited may 2023. Really good consistently, just what you want when craving a hot dog! Good fries and a shake too! Hasn’t changed the decor in forever (good thing)!Kid-friendliness: A+”
“Love this food truck! It has become a weekly taco Tuesday spot after our discovery of their street tacos...mmmm...carne asada...mmm! They also make a spectacular chili relleno which you don't often see at a food truck. It is puffy and cheesy but not greasy. Better than most brick-n-mortar establishments!”
“Surprisingly good place in a nondescript strip mall. Everyone in our party of 7 was satisfied. My kids loved the chicken tamale plate. I had tacos of lengua and asada that were both really good. The salsas and chips were yum, especially the smokey red salsa. Rice and beans were on point. The fish taco was slightly bland, but the freshness and homemade everything, including tortillas, more than made up for that. I would definitely come back to try more.”
“Fiesta veg burrito was amazingly delicious! The crazy fries were decent but not as “crazy”.The Jamaican hibiscus tea was very refreshing!Service was good and quick. The menu is creative and offers many options. The restaurant is spacious.Would recommend their fiesta burrito.”
“We love this place. Very friendly. Good drinks and good food. The reason it didn't get a five is because there have been times on Friday nights where it took a long time to get our food. They have started opening for lunch with special things on the menu. Happy hour starts at 4:00 I believe. You can get a full dinner with all the trimmings and appetizers. Easily splitable. Just order the extra plate and a side salad. Conveniently once again we are going there tonight. See you there!”
“As someone who is a scratch cook I can honestly say this % the best breakfast place I have ever been to . Not only does the owner(Cherie) walk around and check in with you , but if you are a fun kind of person she will replicate your attitude back The food is always fresh hot and amazingly delicious . All staff are extremely kind , swift and a wealth of information on the food choices My wife totally loves the Mexican Potatoes and Stuff . I have a special spot for the stuffed French toast - unlike most every other place I have been to across the country the stuffed French toast have the perfect balance of sweetness not to much and not to little . Today I had the Pancake tacos , they are a fun little breakfast food for child and adults alike . Never once have we had a bad experience or meal at Hot Brew Bistro . If you are ever passing thru or live in the area and have not been to Hot Brew Bistro you should stop in for a down home good cooked meal and a great family experience The one and only bad thing is today is our last time coming to Hot Brew Bistro as we moved to South Carolina last year and we were only back visiting for a week . This is our last trip to CA and the lost coast area Thank you for all the great food and wonderful times”
“Live from New York pizza used to be the best pizza back in the 90s and early 2000s. It's really hit or miss nowadays. Every once in a while you get a good slice of cheese pizza that tastes just the way it did in the 90s. I really think the inconsistency needs to be addressed. I did use to smoke a lot of pot when I'd go there and now I don't. Maybe they should do CBD Pizza cause it did used to taste better when I was baked.”
“Good food and great friendly efficient service. I really like the Bistec a la Mexicana. The chips and salsa are good. I haven't tried much else on the menu yet.”
“The guy who runs the store is really nice. The Cider is absolutely amazing. He brought us some while we were working out front doing traffic control. The shop seems really cozy and a great opportunity to support local business.”
“Update: We returned to Pepper's again tonight. Joe and his Fortuna Pepper's Team were exceptional. True world class. As always, the food was perfect (Southern Dinner and Baked Lasagna) with chocolate cake for desert! I am here in Fortuna for a few weeks taking care of my father in-law who lost his wife to cancer last week. What really stands out at Pepper's for me is there attention to customer service. The team is uplifting and very customer focused. I will be a Pepper's customer for life. Sincerely - MarkUpdate: Joe, the owner of Pepper's called me immediately after my post. I greatly appreciated his effort to reach out to me directly from a customer service perspective. His focus was understanding the customer experience I had and what he could do to course correct the issue. Joe was receptive and a very good listener to my experience. He certainly made every effort to make it right. Based on his call I will return to Pepper's during my stay in Fortuna.Original Post: I am visiting Fortuna for a couple weeks. Tonight I placed by 5th order with Peppers for a "to go dinner". Of those, 3 of the orders were not what I ordered. When I finally called to complain, the receptionist said they would try to do better and hung up. Really! I expected a little better customer service, but they were not very concerned. Very disappointing. Recommend you make sure you check your to go order for accuracy. Mark”
“If you are from Humboldt and have never ventured out of the county you may give this place a 5! I put into consideration that it is a brewery in Humboldt or may have given it a 2 or 3. Beer is decent but nothing to really rave about.”
“I've only ordered their breakfast burrito because it's delicious ?. Thus, this review could be all wrong, but I'd definitely recommend the breakfast ?!”
“RATING 5* or of 5* NOTE I'm picky. I live walking distance from the #1 rated Mex Eatery in Humboldt County. It was a fluke that I ate at Aztec Grill. If they had their own building with nice seating & more dishes, they'd be serious competition for #1. POSITIVES I was impressed. You can see your food being made. All the staff looked like older ladies, who had lots of experience making this food. Enjoyed watching them get after each other in Spanish. It's a show. LoL NEGATIVES Struggled with English . Can't take a date. They should have a classier place to sell their yummy food. SERVICE Super Quick . Order-Gas-Food-Eat (no wait) They should have a drive-thru. AMBIANCE Fast Food / Market Environment FOOD Authentic, Delicious LOCATION Gas Station ADVICE * Get an old fast food eatery building. * Put in a glass wall, where customers can watch their food being cooked (for entertainment & keeping staff honest). * Decorate in authentic, old style Mexican style. * Keep the same kind of staff, so have more variety of dishes & have several vegan options (vegan cheese & veggie meats). * Gives you a larger demographic. You want health nuts & tourists (Humboldt main tourists are health minded.) There are 200+ National Redwood Forests & Redwoods are in 2 places in the World. * Make the environment feel rich, warm & inviting. * Do a classy drive-thru that has a covering that looks like it's part of the building. You don't want it to look tacky.”
“I order carry-out special. I do not dine in. I have had them deliver in the past its on par. It's average pizza and priced fair. Lately the pizza is done in 15 to 20 min. Basically I order online pay online drive from palmer and the pizza is ready.”
“A great place to get high quality meals "like mama makes em". The servers are always so friendly and willing to answer any questions you have. There are several food restrictions in my family and they are always mindful. The lighting and comfort level are perfect during a rainy day; did I mention their coffee? Never had a bad coffee from them, and I'm picky. Perfectly priced, I usually share a meal with my partner since their portions are so big. One of our favorite spots in Fortuna!”
