I was given a package of malt vinegar for the fish along with tartar sauce the cooks offer too. "Absolutely nothing wrong with that"Later, a friend told me the place probably has a chain of restaurants scattered across parts of the UK and other areas of the US. It's perfect for Fountain Valley.

I have been going to Union Jack Fish and Chips for about 20 or 25 years now. The fish and chips are very good, even compared to some higher end places that make fish and chips. Now the cod filets are sort of long triangular shaped, which might make you think, 'processed filets'. BUT, they are not formed from different parts of the fish, they are cut that way from the solid white meaty part of the fish. They cook them to order, so when you get the bag it is piping hot! The fried batter is crispy but not tough, thick but not so thick that you can't taste the fish and they are not greasy like a lot of restaurants make them. The place is not much to look at and they only have 3 or 4 tables, but what they lack in ambience they more than make up for in delicious fish and chips.

The food at this place was amazing and the manager was really nice.I ordered the fish and shrimp combo with fries/chips on the side and it was among the best ive ever had.The food was crispy and cooked to perfection. I also love that they sell British groceries, and have traditional sides as well such as Mushy Peas.Thanks for the great meal I will be back!Vegetarian options: The best fries and Mushy Peas. Onion rings as well.Dietary restrictions: They have chicken if you don't eat fish.Parking: Decent size lot in a shopping center.Kid-friendliness: It's fried food. What kid wouldn't love it?Wheelchair accessibility: You can probably get a wheelchair in the store, but just be aware that the store is very small and not a lot of waiting room.
