“This has changed owners and names from Oishi’s to Sake. The service has not faltered and the food although different retains quality. I recommend “Ron’s” special. It’s got fresh buttery garlic, lightly breaded shrimp and rice. Enjoy food so you enjoy life.Kid-friendliness: They don’t mind kids as long as you don’t let them run around everywhere.Wheelchair accessibility: Flat area. O stairs or obstacles.“
“Never noticed this restuarant until the other week. Decided it was time to give it a shot and the shot returned with flying colors. Any review that says the food was bad, definitely tripping. Walked in, was greeted by a chef that immediately welcomed new guests to the establishment and offered great recommendations for sushi and plates. You cannot go wrong on the lava cake roll, sushiyaki special roll, and dragon roll! Don't forget that New York steak with bacon fried rice plate. Definitely impressed by how tender and well seasoned them tiny thin cuts were. Total was shy under $60 for all that for two. Can't beat that for 2024 prices. Hope this helps new faces check out a fantastic hole in the wall restaurant.“
“i loooovvee this place!! you have to try the jalapeño poppers as well as the ramen. my go to is the miso ramen medium spicy and it’s perfect amount of spicy if you can handle it. i’ve tried many ramen restaurants in fresno and none compare to the ramen here. it has much more flavor than the broth at other ramen restaurants. the servers here are kind and the owner always welcomes us back and asks how things are. definitely check this place out.“
“Went here last week with my girlfriend, and I gotta say best sushi spot in fresno, Used to work at a teppanyaki spot and this is by far the better spot when it comes to sushi. Everything was fresh our server was great and the whole environment was good etc. Can’t wait to bring the rest of my family in!!“
“The sushi was delicious! Both the Dragon Roll and Booty Tempura Roll werena delight to the senses. Unfortunately, the Grilled Unagi Teriyaki Bowl my girlfriend had was disappointing. The Grilled Unagi, despite being delicious, was riddled with bones that ruined not only the texture but the experience. Although the bones are safe for consumption it was unpleasant. Finally, the restaurant was cozy. We arrived 10 minute's after their 4:30pm dining hour and it was a full house. Our food took nearly an hour to arrive at our table just before we were going to flip a coin to determine if we should leave. Although the rolls were phenomenal after waiting for so long I finished my roll within 5 minutes and although I was still hungry we decided not to order desert or anything else out of fear of the wait time. A 30 minute wait time I feel is acceptable but an hour is too much for so little food. We shall return but with deep consideration and definitely staying away from the grilled Unagi.“
“After an event downtown we sought a restaurant to deter the cold. We settled on this ramen place and were pleasantly surprised. Our waitress was helpful and patient. The recommended ramen was full of flavor and delicious. Definitely worth the drive downtown.“
“We had a party of 23 people 3 birthday ? we sat down fast drinks were in a matter of of minutes, the mushroom soup and peanut salad ? was so good, the rice was delicious with bits of bacon ?,I give the restaurant was top 5 Star ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ in my opinion it must “
“The place is a gem. Their tempura batter is excellent. A combination of flaky, sturdiness, and flavor. Gyosa were full of flavor and cooked to perfection. We came on a Tuesday and the place was sadly empty. Also, the service and attention to detail was just right. Our needs were met while allowing us to enjoy our meal. This is worth a drive from our home in North West Fresno.“
“The food here is spectacular. I loved my sushi roll and hand roll. The service was very good and we were checked on a few times. The ambiance inside was very well decorated to the point that my friend said that they wanted to get the same type of doors that separate the additional dining area from the primary dining room in the restaurant in his house.“
“Been here 5 years ago, and was not impressed but that's where everyone wanted to go so went.Glad I went sushi was outstanding and the service was excellent.Talked to the waitress and found out it changed hands a while back. The fish was fresh and the sushi rice was outstanding. The small Salad was huge and the miso soup was delicious. Will be back for sure.“
“We purposely drive an hour away to just eat here. We love the tepanaki but this last time we didn't enjoy it as much as the last time. The chef who cooked for us did tell us that they had a lot of call offs so he was a sushi chef cooking for us. We love the fried rice but this time it was super dry like he let it cook for too long. But overall the meal was enjoyable. We were a group of 2 adults and 5 kids including a 1 year old who disliked seeing fire.“
“Beautifully run true mom and pop restaurant. Becoming more of a unicorn these days with the increasing cost of overhead to run a family owned restaurant. Had the shrimp yakisoba and a couple of sushi rolls from the 2 for $20 menu. Very fresh and you can see care was put into the meal presentation. Was quiet for a weeknight, don't be in a rush. Great food takes time!“
“Had a good dining experience here. Friendly staff and an impressive sushi menu. The prices are pretty reasonable and the quantity per item is just enough for one. The spicy edamame was a good choice for the appetizer. Their fried sushi rolls are awesome. Had a tough time deciding what to order. Gotta go back.“
“We only had teppanyaki so I can't speak for the sushi. The duo meals are well stacked dinner for two for approximately $130. Includes steak, chicken, lobster tail, scallops, shrimp, veggies and their famous bacon fried rice which is quite delish! All with a fire show and good ambiance. You def need a reservation. The cooks are nice and try to make u feel special if it's a special occasion.“
“100% eat here. Sit at the bar. We had the Fresno and super girl plus eel. Service was perfect. Food quality, and volume was great. I'm only upset that l and my wife got full.Vegetarian options: Many people were heard ordering and enjoying veggie only sushi“
“I'm just gonna cut to the chase. I loved it. My friend Larry--we go WAY back--kept speaking negatively about her experience here, mainly her distaste for what she refers to as "the monkey balls," and straight from the lion's mouth, she claims, "Now, I know a thing or two (and sometimes three) about balls!" Um, ok pal, we believe you!! I visited this monument to the gods, this crystal palace of all that is Japanese cuisine, with my darling beloved, my voluptuous bride. Her knee's been in complete agony, and this is just what the doctor (Dr. Cruz) ordered: a sushi roll, tempura appetizer, and cocktails. Each mouthwatering morsel got my brain racing, a torrent of pure ecstasy electrifying the synapses of my cerebrum, like Frankenstein animating his most abhorred creation. I, too, abhorred the atavistic nightmare these toothsome piscine viands birthed inside of me. One taste, I became a monster starving for more. Two tastes, I transformed fully into a demon, Lucifer awakening in Milton's Hell, free from his chains and ready to rule in pleasure and sin. Papa likey, and that's an understatement. The sashimi got me going like nothing else could, and the cocktails are beautifully crafted and exquisitely priced for a humble gourmand as myself. Yeah... I think I'm gonna make another visit to Banzai. Larry was absolutely dead wrong. She ended up loving it upon her second visit, and the rest of my dining party was head over heels, as well. Thank you, Banzai, for making my "Hump Day" a real treat!Illustrated below is Larry's eyes, beaming with joy at her second visit to this fabulous local establishment. Only the eyes are displayed so as to protect the true identity of this skeptical dining companion.“
“It was decent sushi. Not as many choices as most local sushi places. Still good. This is a strange review to write. There was nothing wrong with the place but I'll probably go to others instead. Oh but did not like garlic edimame, tasted sweet.“
“To be super honest, this is one of my favorite places to come grab sushi. I always get the ono nigiri because it tastes like butter...!!! The server was professional and attentive. As of right now it is about $40-$45 a person for AYCE Sushi... but on this particular day, my boyfriend and I ordered 1 chef's special roll at $15, 1 order of takoyaki at $8, 1 order of ono nigiri at $7?, 1 Good Day soju at $15, and 2 servings of ice cream at $5 each. After taxes it came out to be around $60. It is a lot pricier than it used to be.. i still enjoy ordering from here once in a while! I forgot to mention that they made the chef special roll that we ordered extra spicy and it was incredibly delicious! My boyfriend, who doesn't usually like eating sushi, loved it!!!“
“As we walk in we were greeted by the chef. He politely let us know that their service might be a little wait due to short on staffing. To our surprised we got our food within a decent time. And the chef kept checking on us and filling our drinks without having to ask. Everything we order was delicious..“
“10/10!!! This place is amazingly delicious. Came in with my husband for a lunch date and it did not disappoint!! We got Nigiri to start, yellowtail, albacore, and salmon, then had the super Mario roll, Larry the lobster, crazy roll, and dragon roll. We had to take some home with us we couldn’t finish it LOL!! We will be back to try the other rolls soon!!Thank you !!!“
“I've been going to this place since it first opened. I've never had a problem with the taste of the food, just the waiting and getting someone to actually come take your order. Most, if not all the time, you have to seat yourself because there's really no host. The servers are everywhere, until they notice you. And that can take an awkwardly long while. Don't go too late on the weekends or Friday because you may not get a table. The music is a little loud. They can tone it down and still have fun. It's hard for staff and guests to hear each other. They changed the DJ and afterwards it just sucked. DJ needs to know that if they have a long list of people waiting to karaoke, they need to move quickly down the list and not play music in between each singer. Then the waiting is even longer! I get it you're not going to get through everybody until closing time, but you don't prolong it if you can help it. I feel their service got worse towards the end when the last owners were going to close the business. Hopefully the new owners will train their staff to do better.Parking: big open parking lot, recently upgraded tooWheelchair accessibility: no stairs, 1 level“
“Awesome place for Tepenyaki and great cocktails as well! I love that it's a no reservation restaurant, it makes for available seating all the time as opposed to similar restaurants in the Fresno area. Great food!! Don't pass up the scallops!“
